Live Life to the Fullest

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Summer is the most awaited season especially to us, students. Everyone wishes to spend their summer vacation according to their plans. Last summer, I learned to value my family, friends and everyone around me. Since, I finished another year of being a student as a Junior High School, and that made me sad because it’s the most memorable year for me.

When the school officially ended the classes, I made a list and immediately planned the places I will visit. I wrote Boracay, Puerto Princesa Palawan and especially Subic because my Lolo owns a house and farm there, it serves as our family’s gathering place.

My relatives organized an outing so I immediately packed my bags and bought everything I need. I prepared all these one week before the outing because I was too excited and we rarely meet each other because of works and schooling.

April 5,2013 (Friday) one day before our Subic outing, it was my sister’s graduation. She graduated fourth year high school. The ceremony lasted for four hours, I was drained and I wanted to go home. We were homebound to have a celebration and suddenly my uncle called and said a bad news, my Grandmother died.

We were all shocked because it was unexpected. The last time we saw her, it was her birthday, and she looked healthy. The outing was cancelled and my aunts and uncles organized my Grandma’s wake at Evergreen Pasig Memorial. Many relatives from different places visited the wake. The place was too crowded. My cousins and I were obliged to serve the visitors because of that, we were too drained and exhausted. Two days before Grandma’s burial, we had the chance to bond and have fun. We didn’t notice how tired we are.

The day came, my Grandma’s Burial, the saddest point of my summer vacation. We said our final goodbyes and left the cemetery. Right after, we went to my late grandma’s house and had a dinner and discussed some important matters. Little by little, the serious conversation became a hilarious conversation. We started throwing jokes and played some games. It might sound so stupid or rude to be happy that day, but we realized that it’s her purpose, purpose for us to unite and value more of our family. After that, our family decided to have a Grandest and Biggest Reunion and it will be held in Cagayan this coming December.

My summer vacation didn’t end there; One week after Grandma’s wake, I was enrolled in a Review Center in Katipunan at the front of Ateneo (one of my dream school) together with some of my classmates to be prepared for the College Exams. I had so much fun because I met many people and our teachers were cool! The exciting part there was everyday commute with friends, funny conversation in LRT though, it’s very crowded and we laughed insanely. Everyday allowance and especially the bonding moments we had. We’re more than friends we’re like brothers and sisters or my siblings from another mother.

With all these experience, I learned to live life to the fullest, grab every opportunity to bond with your love ones and always look into a brighter side of life.

  1. Hey, Vallea! I'm happy that you had fun during our summer break. Even if there's a bad, unexpected news, you were still able to manage and understand everything. Just like what you've said, you've learned something from those experiences, and that's a good thing.
