Is Toni Gonzaga better, or friendlier, than Jessica Soho?

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

“Hypocrite - a pretense of having a virtuous character, moral or religious beliefs or principles, etc., that one does not really possess.” That’s to Toni Gonzaga, and Lucy Torres, and their kind.

It's really quite ironic and disappointing for the two to give life tips and lessons, but actively promotes a fraudulent political candidate at the same time.

They teach about goodness one second and enables liars the next.

Wala naman kasing Toni Gonzaga or Lucy Torres Gomez ang magbibigay ng bible verse if issues on ill-gotten wealth and tax evasion are brought up by Jessica Soho.

In a teaser, Jessica Soho said they invited the five of the highest ranking candidates based on the latest surveys for the "Presidential Interviews." But Bongbong Marcos declined to participate. Only four others, Leni Robredo, Isko Moreno, Manny Pacquiao and Ping Lacson joined.

Marcos' spokesperson Vic Rodriguez says they declined invite because they believe veteran and Peabody-award winning journalist Jessica Soho "is biased against the Marcoses...we believe her questions will just focus on negativity about BBM which the UniTeam dislike."

Bongbong Marcos would talk to Toni Gonzaga, but not Jessica Soho. That says a lot. This is already red flag! I wonder if BBM would've attended if it was Toni Gonzaga who conducted the interview.

Bongbong Marcos' interview with Toni Gonzaga has been a big misinformation tool for Marcos to use. If only BBM had the guts to sit and talk with credible journalist who knows to differentiate facts and lies and provide trustworthy news.

Gonzaga’s controversial interview with BBM drew backlash but at the same time it also became instrumental to the growth of Marcos’ YouTube channel.

However, the engagement could simply be just online. The same way that none of Toni Gonzaga’s 12M views translated to sales for her corny ass movie Exorsis. Narcotics swore they would watch the movie? Toni threw away whatever integrity she has left for nothing.

it's a matter of who people should trust regarding news, updates, concrete plans, now tell me who is more credible between those two? in times that misinformation is widespread, people should know who to trust, and obviously it's not Toni.

Kay Toni Gonzaga lang daw siya magpapa-interview. Mas legit naman si Jessica Soho, Hindi nga lang as attractive as Toni. But it's not a beauty pageant.

Before these unending caravans muddle your memory, remember that everything started with this seemingly casual Toni Gonzaga interview that triggered so many making Toni Gonzaga's interview with BBM viral. It was probably one of the first miscalculations of the opposition and their supporters. Had they ignored it, it wouldn't have gained much traction.  By highlighting it like they did, it is now the MOST popular video on Toni's channel by far, and made many aware of BBM's own YouTube channel.

However, this Cancel Culture could power BBM to the Presidency. But I hate to become president just because of infamy, like what happened to Duterte.

They say that the Pinklawans greatest power is cancel culture. The irony is, it's the same cancel culture that engulfed the (then simply) smoldering desire of BBM supporters to a now burning desire.

On a more serious note, this interview with Jessica Soho could've also been BBM's chance to share his platform (assuming na meron). But like his followers, Marcos Jr. is afraid of debates because it will expose his lack of intelligence.

Remember 2016 when BBM was also the leader in VP survey at onset until he wasn't during campaign period.. and the rest as you say could say is political history.

Also, if a presidential candidate cannot face Jessica Soho and still tries to avoid TV debates — choosing to sit down with personalities who are “friendly” like Toni Gonzaga who do not really ask the right and important questions — then BBM is probably NOT ready to be the next commander-in-chief.

If BBM can attend an interview with Toni Gonzaga, why can't he join the interview with Jessica Soho? He is aspiring for the highest position and yet afraid to attend?

Toni Gonzaga and her sister, Alex Gonzaga, are Christians who live by the word of God, or so they say, but at the same time, supporters of the family who killed thousands and looted millions.

Nakakatawa rin na tumiklop si Bongbong sa dalawang babae - una kay COMELEC Commissioner Rowena Guanzon and now kay Jessica Soho...This speaks too much of his false image.

Replace Marcos with Ka Leody De Guzman for the presidential interviews

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

In other news, it would’ve been refreshing if GMA News also invited Ka Leody De Guzman to the debates so we can have someone else (other than VP Leni Robredo) slaughter Marcos Jr on national TV.

I’m pretty sure Isko, Pacman, and Ping wouldn’t have the balls to attack a leading candidate.

Okay. Enough of the #MarcosDuwag thing. So why is Leody De Guzman still excluded from the frame of those being interviewed by Jessica Soho?

"invited 5 of the highest ranking candidates?" ..... Aren't there just like six of them? Ka Leody has been excluded in a lot of mainstream media when the topic is about the presidentiables. You can't convince me that they aren't doing that shit on purpose.

I'm disappointed that Ka Leody was not invited to the GMA News presidential interviews. He would've elevated the discourse amongst the candidates.

Ka Leody deserves to be heard. Manggagawa naman!

Presidential aspirant Ka Leody de Guzman says he is interested in joining national debates as these will give voters “informed choice.” Says a candidate who is reluctant to engage in debates will likely hesitate in taking on serious responsibilities as government official.

Leody De Guzman is more worthy than Bongbong Marcos to be invited. At least he has a brain he chooses to use, a platform, and offers more than empty platitudes.

I really wish the media took ka leody more seriously as a candidate. Sayang kasi dahil napakaganda rin ng platforms niya and I do feel like we definitely need someone in the candidates to put forward concerns that come from the masses.

And compared to Bongbong Marcos, he takes this whole election much more seriously. Ewan ko ba kung bakit si Ka Leody pa yung kinoconsider na nuisance eh etong si Marcos, hindi na nga masyado kagandahan yung plataporma, duwag pa... but that's a rant for another day.

i know na top 5 presidential candidates lang ang target pero sana if may nag-decline, they could've invited Ka Leody since it'll be a big platform for him to pursue his advocacy. He's decent and genuine with his candidacy naman. Bongbong Marcos is more of a nuisance candidate.

Bigyan natin ng chance siya to deliver his platform on mainstream media. I know it's impossible to invite all of them, but why do they solely base it on the popularity rankings anyway— when it's out there in the open that some of the notorious ones aren't competent enough for the highest post?

Ka Leody De Guzman is a promising presidential candidate as well. Hindi man malakas ang makinarya, like the other candidates, this could not help him top surveys pero malakas naman points niya (platform), track record, and paninindigan!

I'd rather watch a candidate I haven't heard of fend for themselves than spot a familiar face that isn't worth my time at all. Filipino voters are very much entitled to have that 'informed choice', if and only if the concerned agencies are willing to make it happen.

Replace Marcos with Ka Leody! We would love to hear his thoughts, platform, and how we would present himself in a debate against other candidates. As a labor leader, and underdog, fighting for the masses and workers this would be big!

Indeed Ka Leody deserves the platform but mainstream media is most probably too afraid for a socialist man to speak the truth.

Not all those that have grievances against the government are "Dilawan"

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

... May pandemya pa yan.

Why does she have to apologise? yung presidente nga ay puro mura Ang bukambibig eh.

Those who were not born during Martial Law. This is how it works.

Samantalang si Leni kapag minumura ng mga trolls ay hindi maaksyunan, but when it comes to ordinary person like this Aling Gemma, ang bilis aksyonan!

This is a democratic country, kaya karapatan ng bawat isa satin n maglabas ng hinanaing at saloobin kung paano tayo tinatrato ng gobyerno..This is another side of martial law.. Pati matandang walang kalaban-laban ay haharasin ninyo. Shame on you!

Ganito ba ang gusto nyo madlang people?

The fact na wala pang Martial law yet they can abuse this kind of authority means something.

The Duterte playbook. Sad but she dropped a lot of truth bombs.

Hindi ito tama. We should not be living in fear. I hope may nakareach out kay nanay to make her feel better/safe.

Ayaw namin sa isang diktadoryang gobyerno!

Bongbong Marcos declines presidential interviews

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

"Bongbong Marcos declined to show up for the GMA News Jessica Soho presidential interviews. In a teaser for tomorrow's full program, Soho says they invited the 5 highest ranking candidates but only Lacson, Moreno, Pacquiao and Robredo accepted.

We have been asking the Marcos camp if Bongbong Marcos will attend Comelec-sponsored debates, and followed up tonight why he declined GMA News' invite, but we have yet to get a response. We will update here when we get one."

I can’t believe I’m saying this but Duterte was right. He is really is a weak leader!

That’s the strategy. Let the pawns do the work. While he is at the comfort of his mansion (habang nasinghot) yung mga attack dogs, bayaran, at blind followers nya ang naharap sa laban.

Sabihin niyo kasi na may binyag or kasal para sumipot tapos on the spot interview/debate pala talaga... Charot!

Because last 2016, Robredo roasted him in a debate and it crashed his candidacy and fortunately, natalo siya. We love it. We love seeing the Marcoses losing everything.

He is in politics for what... 20+ years? tapos tatay niya former president, and claim ninyo na he is very smart, pero irereject yung interview invitation dahil... pinagtulungan siya sa debate?

That's because that 64-year-old brat did not inherit even 1/3 of the oratorical skills of the late dictator. He just enjoys the benefits of having megalomaniac parents.

He does not even know his current events and issues. Puro motherhood statements ang banat.

Oh my, so mas mahusay pa mga college students na undergoing thesis?

Funny how the one the Marcos supporters and DDS call “dumb” has more guts to show up, unafraid to answer questions. To all you believers of BBM, isip isip din kayo kung bakit laging no show ang manok ninyo. A leader should never be too scared to face his critics.

Takot si BBM magpa-interview kay Jessica Soho or sa Presidential debates because we all know he will choke and mauutal pag sumagot. Signs of a liar.

Jessica would ask him kung ano ang plataporma n’ya. Tatlo ang possible nyang maisagot. 1. Magkaisa 2. Babangon muli. 3. Nais makita ang mga ngiti ng Pilipino. I wonder if he can say that coherently, at the very least.

Less talk less mistake. Yan ang payo ng mga campaign managers, and let the trolls work. Walang authenticity, bad quality of a leader. Hindi pa halal pero nagtatago na.

Ganyan ang strategy nila today. No ambush interviews and debates kasi alam nilang mahina talaga sa debate si Junior,  Takot mag-isa dahil usually kasi ay spokesperson niya nagsasalita sa mga issues laban sa kanya eh. Ayaw madulas yarn?

Ano ba iyan??? Will we actually settle with someone who cannot even attend the very important events such as the Zoom hearing with COMELEC and the Presidential interviews but could attend a "binyag"? This is what happens when the candidate is not willing to be accountable.

I-take advantage ito ng lahat ng kalaban. Kung dito pa lang ay hindi na niya kaya harapin, what more yung problema ng bansa.

Ang narrative nila this halalan ay gawing inaapi at kinakawawa si Junior to get more sympathy.

And this is what I'm afraid of. Pavictim na naman sila. Of course for us it only proves how incompetent, unreliable and coward he is. But for others, especially since pagkakatuwaan na naman to, papavictim sila. Inaapi. Kesyo ayaw ng "pagtatalo".

Put this into perspective, mas okay pa si rastaman may episode sya sa KMJS at nailatag nya yun plataporma nya para sa bansa pero itong kinginang to, ayaw na ayaw ng impromptu. ayaw maexpose ng utak yarn?

I hope the Philippines would not settle with a President who would not attend hearings and debate but would rather attend binyag and wedding celebrations. We deserve so much better tama na ang 6 years with Duterte.

Tapos!

Tapos tayong lahat pag yan ang naging presidente.

Also, GMA should give equal opportunity to all candidates and not just chose because of the survey results. Ka Leody is not included so this show technically robs the Filipino people of an opportunity to information.

Ka Leody deserves a spot there. It's time we give fair exposure to all the candidates.

At least people will know their side (issues), reforms for sustainability, awareness, viewpoints, comprehensive programs and etc..

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

NEW YEAR, SAME DEDICATION – Rebisco shows once again its all-out commitment to the sport of volleyball as they enter 2022 with a renewed focus and goal of getting its indoor professional teams in the Premier Volleyball League to a better finish.

Entering its third season in the PVL, head coach Oliver Almadro’s team aims to build on its first two stints as they aim for a podium finish this time around and raise the level of competition in the Philippines’ first professional volleyball league higher than ever.

After adding experienced and skilled veterans in setter Jem Ferrer and middle Cherry Nunag back in November, Choco Mucho signed four key players that will strengthen the team’s championship drive this season.  They are Desiree Cheng, Isa Molde, Aduke Ogunsanya and Thang Ponce.

Cheng and Molde will provide the much-needed scoring in the wings while Ogunsanya and Nunag will join the defensive middle blocking composed of Bea De Leon and Shannen Palec. Ponce meanwhile, will support Denden Lazaro on floor defense.

SSS promotes its online channels amid rise in COVID-19 cases

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

The Social Security System (SSS) is once again urging its members, pensioners, and employers to use its online services as the country continues to record a high number of COVID-19 cases.

SS President and CEO Aurora C. Ignacio said transacting with the SSS using its online channels is the simplest, safest, and most convenient option for SSS stakeholders.

“Through our online channels, our stakeholders can avail of our services without the need to go out of their homes or offices, minimizing their risk of exposure to COVID-19,” Ignacio said.

Among SSS’ online channels are the My.SSS Portal at www.sss.gov.ph, SSS Mobile App, and uSSSap Tayo Portal at https://crms.sss.gov.ph.

Using the My.SSS Portal, members, pensioners, and employers can access their SSS information including contributions, loans, and status of benefit claims or reimbursement; open the Disbursement Account Enrollment Module (DAEM) and Benefit Re-Disbursement Module (BRM); and generate Payment Reference Numbers (PRNs) for contributions and loans.

Members may also submit Maternity Notifications (for individual members), Maternity Benefit Applications and Adjustment of Maternity Benefit, Sickness Benefit Applications, Funeral Benefit Applications, Retirement Benefit Applications (subject to qualifying conditions for online filing), Salary Loan Applications, Calamity Loan Applications, and Pension Loan Applications (for renewal), among others.

On the other hand, employers may also submit Contribution Collection Lists (R3), Employment Reports (R1A), Loan Collection Lists (ML2), SS Sickness Benefit Reimbursement Applications, and Maternity Benefit Reimbursement Applications; and certify their employees’ Retirement Benefit and Salary Loan Applications, among others.

Currently, there are over 30 member services and nearly 20 employer services available in the My.SSS Portal. Some of these services can also be accessed through the SSS Mobile App.

Meanwhile, the uSSSap Tayo Portal, a self-service platform, enables SSS stakeholders and the public to conveniently find relevant SSS information to answer their questions and access a facility to communicate with the SSS for their additional concerns.

The uSSSap Tayo Portal has three sections, namely the Knowledgebase Section, which contains information about SSS programs and services, including a getting started guide, step-by-step and how-to articles, and troubleshooting information; the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) Section, where users can access answers to common SSS queries; and the Viewing and Submission of Tickets Section that allow users to check the status of their concerns or create additional tickets.

Online and alternative payment channels for SSS contributions and loans are also available. One of which is through the SSS Mobile App, wherein self-employed, voluntary, and Overseas Filipino Worker members can pay their contributions using their PayMaya account, GCash account, Credit Card/Debit Card, or Bank of the Philippine Islands account. Information about SSS online and alternative payment channels can be found in the Knowledgebase Section of the uSSSap Tayo Portal.

Why Iyo Bernardo believes he is an alternative to Vico Sotto

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

The public tit-for-tat between Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto and Vice Mayor Iyo Bernardo continues, after Bernardo threatened to take legal action against Sotto.

Sotto is wondering why Bernardo dragged “family reputation” into their verbal tussle when he never mentioned anything about it.

“Bakit ‘family’s reputation’.. may sinabi ba ako tungkol sa pamilya niya?” Mayor Vico Sotto tweeted in response to Vice Mayor Iyo Bernardo’s criticisms.

The team handling Iyo Bernardo’s publicity is not doing him any favor. As far as numbers are concerned, he’s up against a social media darling known for changing the course of the game in LGU public service. Looking at the overall engagement reactions on social media, we know who’s obviously winning.

Ano kayang mental gymnastics ni Iyo Bernardo to think that he is actually an alternative to Vico Sotto?

Iyo Bernardo, who is running against Mayor Vico Sotto, is supported by vice presidential aspirant and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

Iyo Bernardo was the grandson of its former Mayor Emiliano Caruncho. The elder Caruncho was one of the country's longest-serving local executives, serving from 1956-1986.

Iyo Caruncho was also a nephew of former Pasig Vice Mayor Lorna Bernardo.

If you're wondering why Iyo Bernardo is making so much noise, it's because he was most likely was paid to do so. He's a Eusebio ally after all. Does he believe what he's saying? I doubt it. But he and the old guard want to start throwing dirt on Vico now, hoping it will stick.

I’m sure Iyo Bernardo knows he will not win. But if they want to pull off discrediting Vico as a leader for 2034, they have to start now, para it will seem like a persistent issue right from the start.

The Eusebios know they're not getting that power back soon. That's probably why they got this pointy haired clown (seriously, hair gel in 2021?) as their inside man to supposedly publicize the boy mayor's "failings." Problem is, walang credibility si Iyo.

I mean, he didn't even show the screen of his phone to "prove" na tinext at tinawagan siya ni Mayor. And even if he did, everyone knows how easy it is to delete logs lol. But then again what do you expect from a dude who thinks his hair is a great idea in this year, at his age?

He is still the current vice mayor right? What the heck is he doing? Whining instead of actually working? Throwing a tantrum like Pasiguenos owe him anything. what a crybaby!

Iyo Bernardo is now becoming the biggest pest I've seen in Philippine politics! He doesn't deserve to be in that position and he doesn't even have the class and morals to be there. Mayor Vico rose to fame because of good governance and showed true heart for Pasig.

Mayor Vico is one of the best LGU leaders in the Philippines. This is clearly an election ploy by those who want to be back in power.

Military service doesn't inspire partriotism but breeds scalawags in uniforms

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

Duterte-Carpio said “only the likes of Mr. Bello would think of mandatory military service for its citizens as arming them and telling them to kill” because for her, that actually “inspires patriotism in the youth.”

"I also emphasized the need for the youth to be prepared for disasters and become proactive community partners in rescue operations and in aiding victims of calamities."

Mandatory military service agad para maging proactive community partners? For both males and females? Talaga ba?

Military servitude inspires patriotism? Really?

My ROTC days did not even "inspire patriotism" in me. I just wanted the day to be over because I felt it was just wasting my time since I still needed to study for my other subjects. And all those days under the sun doing senseless stuff did not really gave me that patriotism because the officers were just taking advantage of their positions. Sa totoo lang, it doesn't inspire partriotism but breeds scalawags in uniforms.

There are plenty of outreach programs and livelihood skills development that we can freely share with the youth. Also, there are already agencies in place to do just that.

Before you are called a certified rescuer, first responder, you undergo rigorous trainings and certifications. You can not just unilaterally claim that ROTC can create competent rescuers. She should stop floating ideas if she doesn't understand how it works.

You can be a regular Pinoy and still be patriotic. You don't need to join the military or even the ROTC.

That’s the only way she knows that can inspire patriotism? How about civil service? You are maybe confusing patriotism and fascism.

It's also hard to instill patriotism when the head of the state sucks up to other countries like China.

How do you inspire patriotism when you have leaders that kowtow to foreign countries that bully us and threatens our territorial integrity?  Or inspire helping community when we have leaders campaigning in other provinces during time of calamity?

Add the instability, low wages and living conditions, poor education system and work opportunities, rampant corruption and incompetency among government officials, etc., which doesn't really inspire love for this country. Priorities, priorities, priorities. You can start with our healthcare system or education system.

If you want patriotism, fix those first.

What will inspire patriotism is: seeing your leaders stand up to China, not military training -- seeing leaders with uncompromising principles, holding themselves accountable to the people not bossing them around.

I am sorry but there is no way I am endangering my children. Imagine an 18 year old responding to danger. Huwag naman please. Better to invest on good training for our men and women that are already in uniform. Or recruit more people and make this their permanent job. Please do not touch our children.

Make it mandatory for the spoiled and entitled children of politicians and government officials.

In your case talaga, like father, like daughter. Kung ano ano na lang sinasabi. Haaaay. No  more of this please.

I am sorry but there is no way I am endangering my children. Imagine an 18 year old responding to danger. Wag naman please. Better to invest on good training po ng men and women in uniform. Or recruit more people and make this their permanent job. Please not our children.

Mandating 'service' within the militarist framework only bolsters the subservient orientation of our education that is meant to foster docile citizens in the future—a precondition for unaccounted tyranny. Sara Duterte is no different from her despotic father.

Anyway, she's not my candidate for VP, or any position, and knocking the heavens to hear my plea that she would never win on 2022 and in any future.

The benefits of a Smart TV

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

Smart TVs have slowly but surely begun to become essential within every household, in fact, within 2021, it was reported that 67% of households now own a smart TV which accurately shows how much they are dominating the TV market. However, some may ask, what is so great about a smart TV and what do they offer that a normal TV doesn’t? Let's jump straight into the benefits of a smart TV.

Extended access to additional content

One of the main and most prominent benefits of a smart TV is the ability to access a wider range of content than a normal TV offers. With a standard TV, there is no ability to access the internet, therefore, streaming services are not an option unless you invest in a device that plugs into your HDMI that allows you to do so. Once they are set up, a smart TV gives the user access to a wide range of apps that are available for free download, and in most cases, the user should already have an account linked to the apps they wish to download and use. Apps such as Netflix, Hayu, Spotify, and YouTube are some of the wildly popular apps that smart TVs have to offer to give the viewer such a wide range of content for endless amounts of entertainment.

Still have access to live TV

Although a smart TV offers much more choice than a standard TV, a main benefit of a smart TV is that the viewer still has access to live TV. This makes it easier when purchasing a smart TV as smart TV prices are not as ridiculous as they were in the past and quite often, they are priced similarly to normal TVs, making it a no-brainer to purchase a smart TV over a standard TV. Ensure that you have a functioning TV aerial to access digital TV, contact us for https://tayloraerials.co.uk/

Only reliant on one remote control

Clutter can be frustrating, especially when it comes to electronics. There is not much worse than having to depend on several devices to operate one device, and yes, we are referring to TV remotes! In the past, it is likely that we had a remote for our TV, our DVD player and not to mention whatever other devices were compatible with our TVs such as gaming devices like an Xbox or Nintendo Wii click here  for more. You know yourself that the clutter of different remotes was annoying and even more so when you lacked storage for them. With a smart TV, everything comes under the one remote, this means that there is less mess and accessing platforms is a whole lot easier for everyone.

Easy to use

Although a smart TV may sound complex to some, they are actually the complete opposite. Think about it, we all thought the same thing when the smartphone was released and now there is no looking back and they are such simple devices to use! The same goes for a smart TV. Setting up a smart TV is very much similar to setting up a normal TV and once the device has been connected to your home WiFi, you are all set to go!

We Vax as One: Mobile Vaccination Drive

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) in partnership with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will be holding a mobile COVID-19 vaccination drive for commuters and transport workers at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) from 24 January 2022 to 28 January 2022.

Dubbed as the “We Vax as One: Mobile Vaccination Drive,” the five-day activity aims to give the AstraZeneca vaccine brand as first, second, or booster doses. Those receiving their booster shots will be given priority.

Transportation Secretary Art Tugade said the vaccination drive intends to give 500 vaccine doses per day.

“Mahalaga po para sa atin na masigurong bakunado ang ating mga bayaning transport workers, lalo na at iba't-ibang lugar ang kanilang pinupuntahan, gayundin ang ibang stakeholders at mga commuters na kanilang nakakasalamuha sa araw-araw,” said Secretary Tugade.

Vaccinations at the PITX during the 5-day drive will be given from 8:00 a.m. until noon (12 p.m.) Those who want to be vaccinated are advised to proceed to Gate 4 at the PITX 2nd floor.

The vaccination drive is open for walk-in vaccinees with the registration to be done onsite.

To recall, the DOTr led a similar COVID-19 vaccination drive for transport workers for six consecutive weeks at the PITX that started on 31 July 2021.

Dubbed as “TsuperHero: Kasangga ng Resbakuna” last year’s vaccination drive was able to vaccinate public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers, conductors, and other transport workers. Participating in the vaccination drive was the DOTr Road Transport Sector, the Department of Health (DOH), the Mega Manila Consortium Corporation (MMCC), the Parañaque City government, and the PITX.

For that event, the MMCC converted five buses of which three were used to inoculate at least 1,000 transport workers every Saturday to reach the minimum target of 6,000 vaccinees.

The Parañaque City government meanwhile provided the first batch of vaccines for the vaccination drive with the remaining vaccine doses needed being sourced from the national government, under the nationwide vaccination program.

FDCP Selects 2 Filipina Producers to Represent PH in Rotterdam Lab 2022

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) has selected two emerging female producers as the country’s representatives in the 22nd Rotterdam Lab of the of the 51st International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) in the Netherlands.

Stella Laguda of KT House Productions and Carmela Acol of TEN17P add to this year’s roster of selected budding producers, with 46 women out of 73, in the Rotterdam Lab 2022 for the IFFR Pro, the business counterpart of the festival, that will be held online from January 24 to 28, 2022.

The FDCP as an international partner of the IFFR Pro and the eligible party to nominate participants in the country, issued a Call for Applicants last December 2021 for emerging producers who have at least two short films and are working on a feature film with the aim to co-produce and network internationally.

KT House Productions’ Laguda is the writer and director of “Si Kulit at si Pilya (Kulit and Pilya)” and “Ibang Daan Pauwi (The Other Way Home).” She also worked on Gilb Baldoza’s “Hindi mo naman ako iiwan, di ba?” (as production manager) and producer of Austin Tan’s “Happy Birthday, Mylene! 2023 ka na (Happy 2023rd Birthday Mylene!)” and “Kung Nakakapagsalita Lang ang mga Halaman” (If Only Plants Could Talk).

At present, Laguda is producing “The Gay and the Dying World” by Baldoza and “RA 8941 or How We Recall Lost Memories in Transit” by Tan which is a Fiction Lab alumni of FDCP and Tatino Films’ Full Circle Lab Philippines, a capacity-building program for Filipino and Southeast Asian filmmakers that aims to support film projects’ development and post-production process in order to enhance its artistic and audience potentials focusing on storytelling.

Meanwhile, Acol of TEN17P is the production associate for marketing for Paul Soriano’s “Siargao,” production associate for Soriano’s “First Love” and RC Delos Reyes’ “Mary, Marry Me,” and associate producer for Carlo Ledesma’s “Sunod,” Delos Reyes’ “Love the Way U Lie,” and Fifth Solomon’s “The Exorsis.” She is currently working on the

Philippine adaptation of the South Korean romantic comedy “My Sassy Girl” by Solomon and “The Entitled” by Theodore Boborol as associate producer.

“For two consecutive years, we have been represented by exceptional emerging Filipina producers in the Rotterdam Lab. This will be an invaluable moment for our local producers at the start of their film production career, for them to learn more about the international networking opportunities and create lasting connections,” said FDCP Chairperson and CEO Liza Diño.

Now on its second online edition, the Rotterdam Lab 2022 has chosen participants who are at the start of their career that will get to learn about international film financing, sales, and distribution through workshops, pitching training, and active and open round-table sessions with industry experts. Additionally, the selected producers will have access to the CineMart Online, the festival’s co-production market.

As part of its project and talent development programs, the Agency is consistent in opening opportunities to expose Filipino producers to international networking platforms. In the past years, the FDCP had selected and supported producers to participate in film markets such as the Cannes Film Festival’s Marché du Film - Cannes Producers Network, the Berlinale Co-Production Market of the Berlin International Film Festival, and Locarno Pro - Match Me! Program of the Locarno Film Festival.

The Rotterdam Lab for talent development is designed to build up emerging producers’ international network and experience. Also part of the IFFR Pro initiatives are the CineMart, the Hubert Bals Fund for independent cinema, and IFFR Pro Hub which offers masterclasses, panels, debates, and professional services.

SSS Sickness Benefit Program covers COVID-infected workers in home confinement

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

The Social Security System (SSS) clarified that COVID-infected workers in home confinement are already covered under its Sickness Benefit Program, contrary to recent media reports.

SS explained that members who cannot work due to sickness or injury and are confined either in a hospital or at home for at least four days could avail of the sickness benefit. Aside from employed members, SSS also grants sickness benefit to self-employed, voluntary, and overseas Filipino worker (OFW) members.

The SSS Sickness Benefit Program is a daily cash allowance paid for the number of days a qualified member cannot work due to sickness or injury, including workers infected by COVID-19. Members can avail of up to a maximum of 120 days in sickness benefit in one (1) calendar year.

COVID-infected members in home confinement can qualify under the program if they have paid at least three monthly contributions within the last 12 months before the semester of sickness or injury and are confined either in a hospital or at home for at least four days.

For employed members, they should have used all their current company sick leave with pay and notified their employer about their sickness. On the other hand, self-employed, voluntary, and overseas Filipino worker members and those separated from employment must notify SSS directly by filing a sickness benefit application.

Likewise, COVID-infected members need to present a positive Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test or Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) done in a Department of Health-accredited facility; or RAT result using Food and Drug Administration-approved test kit; or non-FDA-approved RAT result together with a copy of Certificate of Completion of Quarantine issued and signed by a Medical Officer from the local government unit or the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team.

ARTWALK returns for eighth edition, to include Katong-Joo Chiat precinct for the first time

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

After seven successful years in Little India, the iconic ARTWALK event will expand beyond its home ground for the first time to include Katong-Joo Chiat.

The eighth edition, which runs from 14 to 22 January, will centre around the theme of Looking Back, Going Forward. Milenko Prvacki, Senior Fellow, LASALLE College of the Arts, said: “ARTWALK has always been about telling the rich stories of Singapore’s heritage, and Katong-Joo Chiat has an amazing treasure trove of new stories which can be told through art. We are very happy with how ARTWALK has enlivened Little India since it started. Bringing the festival to a new precinct is a fantastic opportunity to continue the great work of our artists and the student organisers from LASALLE.”

Ms Lim Shoo Ling, Director, Arts & Cultural Precincts, Singapore Tourism Board, said: “We are pleased to welcome ARTWALK back in 2022, this time with an expanded reach into Katong-Joo Chiat. We hope ARTWALK will continue to excite visitors with its rich stories of Little India, and look forward to visitors exploring Katong-Joo Chiat and experiencing more of its distinct character and heritage, through this year’s line-up of programmes.”

Part of Singapore Art Week, ARTWALK is an annual multidisciplinary public arts project organised by LASALLE College of the Arts (LASALLE) and Singapore Tourism Board (STB), supported by the Little India Shopkeepers and Heritage Association (LISHA). Through artworks such as wall murals, workshops, music and performances, artists bring to life the history and traditions of Singapore’s cultural precincts through a multisensory art experience.

This year’s festival is presented in a hybrid format, with one of ARTWALK’s most popular events, guided art tours by Monster Day Tours, making a return in-person. There will also be five new murals this year across Little India and Katong-Joo Chiat.

Other highlights include sessions with storyteller Kamini Ramachandran, a long-time ARTWALK favourite, who will bring visitors on a virtual tour of the Indian Heritage Centre and Katong Antique House, two iconic institutions within the cultural precincts.

Katong-Joo Chiat

Visitors to Katong-Joo Chiat can look forward to new murals by Didier ‘Jaba’ Mathieu and Boon ‘Baked’, with their works entitled Jalan Jalan at 357 Joo Chiat Road and The Phoenix at 321 Joo Chiat Road respectively. Jalan Jalan celebrates Katong-Joo Chiat’s heritage through colours inspired by Peranakan ceramics, with brightly coloured cats proudly wandering the precinct. The Phoenix pays homage to the namesake phoenix that is used as an auspicious motif by the Peranakans, and represents the continuance of life in the flames of change brought on by the pandemic.

Budding artists and heritage architecture enthusiasts can also join in Peranakan Shophouse Sketching workshops by Straits Enclave or the Eurasian Craft Workshop and Gallery Tour by the Eurasian Association.

Participants who prefer to tune in from home can look forward to Test Your Tastebuds, a video series which introduces traditional dishes from Peranakan, Eurasian and Indian cuisines. The series follows a pair of strangers connecting over a meal at Rumah Bebe in the Peranakan edition, and a father-daughter duo at Quentin’s in the Eurasian edition.

Little India

Adding to the line-up of Little India’s murals this year are artists Shah Rizzal, Lee Wan Xiang and Chand Chandramohan, and Slac Satu. Find Shah’s work, Windows, at 1 Dunlop Street, Wan Xiang and Chand’s work The Sun Beaming at 109 Rowell Road, and Slac’s The Bird of Paradise at 72 Syed Alwi Road.

Pink Gajah Theatre’s documentary series Forgotten Corners will bring audiences on another immersive journey, this time through the eyes of residents in Little India and Katong-Joo Chiat. LASALLE will also present a textile exhibition at the Creative Cube foyer in its McNally campus, showcasing Peranakan, Eurasian and Indian cultures through a range of textiles and artefacts.

Virtual performances include a dynamic exploration of the Tamil folk dance karagattam by Meenalochani from Makoolam Kalaikoodam, which will be available on YouTube and Facebook Live. Audiences at home can also tune in to a lively sound-painting journey by Brahmastra, while those looking to experience ARTWALK in-person can head down to Tekka Place for Iswarya Jayakumar’s Fusion Dance workshop or try their hand at Western Indian Warli Art with Stroke Arts Studio’s Kumuda Krovvidi. In another instalment of Test Your Tastebuds, catch a pair of friends exploring the depths of Indian cuisine together at Podi and Poriyal. ARTWALK rounds off with a shower of tunes courtesy of VarshaSG premiering on YouTube and Facebook on 22 January 2022 at 8.30pm.

Full details of this year’s hybrid programme can be found on the ARTWALK website at artwalklittleindia.sg, which includes digital retrospectives of past editions dating from ARTWALK’s inception in 2015. Audiences can also visit ARTWALK’s official social media platforms on Facebook or Instagram.
