Ang Buhay Ni Galileo Musical at PETA

Wazzup Pilipinas!

"Ang Buhay Ni Galileo" is a highly intelligent FILM. You need to listen intently to the dialogue to learn and understand what the musical is all about.

I was deciding whether to watch it or not.

Having decided to go and watch this 1981 revival of PETA's 2nd play, I was well pleased.

I believe God was teaching me and talking me thru the play's story.

Galileo discovered that the planets revolve around the sun instead of the previous notion that all the planets in our solar system including the sun revolve around the earth.

The last song at the first half of the musical was singing about how we should not be "sunud-sunuran" and that we should learn and discover things on our own so that  we can elevate to a higher level in our own lives.

The theme of the current generation of Galileo was that everyone was always just following their leaders blindly.

We are called to be people that will champion science and to discover new inventions that can ultimately make life better for the whole of mankind.

This play encourages one to have democracy, to have good discourses and to foster open forums/discussions about new ideas/inventions for groups to discuss. Who knows? Someone that is not being noticed actually has the cure for cancer or the secret ingredients or formulas to create a TIME-MACHINE!

Roman Baths Scrubbing Salon in SM Megamall

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I was fortunate enough to experience their services a few weeks after their opening and was able to share my thoughts and review about them on my social media vlogs I posted on Facebook.

I'm sort of liking more to upload my videos on Facebook rather than YouTube because it's a lot faster and convenient on my part. So please do check out my videos about Roman Baths on either my personal Facebook page or at the official Facebook page of Wazzup Pilipinas.

Speaking of faster, I'm experimenting on vlogging instead of blogging since I want to improve this particular craft that could be useful in public speaking or hosting. It teaches me to effectively share my thoughts, and boosts my self-confidence.

Incidentally, body scrubbing also helps in many ways to improve both our external and internal features. This is because scrubbing smoothens skin texture, minimizes pores, prevents acne and break-outs, fights signs of aging, evens out skin tone, allows better absorption of skin products and improves blood circulation.

Treat yourself to Roman Baths Scrubbing Salon signature natural scrubbing services that will leave you feeling lighter, cleaner and more refreshed!

I experienced a Body Scrub for only P720 and a Facial Scrub for only P380 last Wednesday September 4. Ask me about it!

Visit them at the 5th Floor Building A of SM Megamall. Call 09237297292 to book for an appointment.

Below is the official press release given during the launch.

This salon, owned by Ocel Fabian and Merci Hilario, promises to make its mark by making skin exfoliation an important part of one’s regimen.

Roman Bath’s services range from a very affordable knee or elbow scrub valued at Php 160 to a thoroughly relaxing Body Scrub package (complete with massage) priced at P720.

Roman Baths Scrubbing Salon uses natural ingredients like Himalayan salt and brown sugar which gently scrub out the dead skin, dirt and grime from your skin’s pores, making you feel clean and refreshed.  These scrub basics, mixed with oils such as Chamomile, Lavender, and Green Tea, offers its patrons the perfect ambience of tranquility and calm.

“Our therapists are trained to give our clients a uniquely memorable scrubbing experience that will leave them wanting to come back for more. We make sure that we only give the best quality scrubbing service even as we make it accessible to more Filipinos,” says Merci Hilario, co-owner of Roman Baths.

Hackuna App Defends Your Mobile Phones Against Hackers

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Aiming to make the cyberspace safer for businesses and individuals, Cryptors Cybersecurity Inc. popularly known as “Cryptors” launched Hackuna Anti-hack, a mobile application that serves as weapon against mobile hackers.

Developed by 21-year-old CEO Alexis Lingad, the Hackuna app, derived from famous Lion King movie statement “Hakuna Matata” (means no worries), claims to be the first of its kind in the world.

By downloading the app, which is available now in Google Play and soon to be in App store, it boasts its capability to blocks hackers within the network from hacking the user. Through pressing the button WiFi Blocker, the user can now track the one who hacked her/him making the world different now, as hackers are the one who should be afraid of hacking the users on public WiFi.

“Before, we have to be extra careful in connecting to free WIFI on public areas such as train stations, coffee shops, malls and government offices because these are the places where WIFI hackers mostly catch their victims. But because Hackuna app is already here to protect your mobile phones against these threats, you don’t need to worry anymore” Lingad said.

Meanwhile, by clicking the Permission Analyzer button in the Hackuna app, it will detect the apps that have unreasonable permission to access the user's private data, camera, mic, SMS, GPS, call logs and contacts without the user knowing.

“There are a lot of apps that seems trusted just because we downloaded it on Play Store but there are still apps that go beyond the security of the platform. For example the Pitu app, it is a trendy app in but it has been discovered that it collects too many private data in our smartphone and invades our privacy. A simple Flashlight app in Play Store meanwhile is asking a lot of permission in your smartphone to access private data that is unreasonable to access. By using Hackuna, you will be able to detect these unknown hackers and track them down, it is a truly beautiful weapon”, Lingad explained.

Moreover, its Malware Buster has the ability to detect the hidden spy apps and the trojans that hackers use in hacking and controlling users phone remotely.

The Hackuna app boasts its 10,000 downloads in Google play in just one month which most of the subscriptions coming from The United States and The Philippines.

“Usually, a mobile security apps takes a month to have its 1000 installments. Hackuna just did 10 times of that. In just 1 month after its public launch,. it gained 10,000+ downloads. Usually, there are only 1% - 5% daily active users in a security mobile apps but in Hackuna, we have 30% - 40% daily active users, ” he added.

Save your friends in the digital world now by downloading this app. Fore more information, please visit www.cryptors.org .

4 Reasons Why You Must Have a Travel Pillow

Wazzup Pilipinas!

If you’re not the kind of person who can afford flying first-class wherever you go, I recommend coming to the airport prepared. In my book, this includes a travel pillow and an eye mask, but I find the pillow a lot more important (see below why).

#1: Comfort, Comfort, Comfort

You don’t need to be a spoiled princess to own a comfortable travel pillow – you just need to travel often enough that your neck starts to hurt from the uncomfortable chairs and weird snoozing. Regardless of the fact that you travel by plane, boat, or bus, you are forced to occupy the confining space of your seat for the entire duration of the trip.

While I am a small person, and this gives me some room to move in the seat, my neck still has to suffer. I used to get out of the transportation vehicle with a stiff neck and back pain which took about two or three days to go away. This is definitely not my idea of fun!

So, I recommend a travel pillow to anyone who wants the slightest bit of extra comfort while traveling. Even more, buying one that is snug and wraps around your body is a fantastic idea!

#2: No Extra Wrinkles

I know that traveling has a permanent effect on my body and skin. I see it happen, as jetlag whoops me into chronic fatigue for days on end, and when I catch my face in the mirror. However, this is a risk I must take since this is what I love doing. But, I will not take any risks I can avoid, such as getting more lines on my face (than necessary).

Having a travel pillow allowed me to keep my face away from seat covers, blouses, or other materials my head may fall over.

#3: You Can Have Your Pick

The thing I like about these products is the wide and varied offer. Nowadays, there are inflatable pillows, memory foam designs, with a hood attached, pillows that have an inner structure, and more.

I started with an inflatable one because it was cheap and only took little space in my travel bag. However, the material on the side that touched my neck and face started wearing down after a while, so I had to give it up.

The second type of pillow I love is the memory foam design. True, it takes a lot more space, but it is so much more comfortable! The material changes position as you change position and creates the ideal shape for your needs. Sure, you’ll get a little bit hot, but it is worth it!

Finally, the one I have now is like a scarf with an inner structure that can be fixated on your neck. So, the structure supports your head while the material keeps your neck warm and cozy. Honestly, I like this one the best because it’s small and customizable.

#4: Extremely Useful

Like most of the new travelers, I was a skeptic at first. What, that tiny thing will help me feel better? No way! But, as I started using them, I learned their true usefulness and now I don’t leave home without one. Even more, they’re not expensive, they’re almost everywhere, and they’ll change your life as a traveler forever!

Kris Aquino Brings Better Skin to Filipinas

Wazzup Pilipinas!

In a trip to Thailand last year, one beauty brand made a believer out of the Queen of all Media, Kris Aquino. Today, the star-turned-entrepreneur brings the SNAILWHITE phenomenon to Manila, as she paves the way for Filipinas to Unlock Beauty.

Kris Aquino’s curiosity with SNAILWHITE began when she saw countless SNAILWHITE ads during a quick stay in Thailand last year. Asking her associates to purchase all SNAILWHITE products so she could try them herself, Kris quickly fell in love with the skincare brand. Thankfully, Kris was introduced to the Do Day Dream PLC owners—makers of the SNAILWHITE brand—through common friends, and after a tour around their factory, their hygienic and high-tech systems convinced Kris that a business partnership with the SNAILWHITE team was something she couldn’t pass up.

After a year of market analysis, focus group discussions, and on-ground research, Kris Aquino is launching SNAILWHITE in the Philippines under the company Do Day Dream KCA Philippines, SNAILWHITE’s first official subsidiary outside Thailand.

Hear it straight from Kris herself as she recounts her exciting SNAILWHITE journey in a Heart to Heart with Kris special webisode: “Live Life With Kris: SNAILWHITE Soap, her new favorite” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heLNJZ11s6U).

SNAILWHITE is a modern skincare phenomenon. Only five years after the company was founded, SNAILWHITE has become a runway success, with SNAILWHITE Moisture Facial Cream rising to be the no. 1 facial cream in modern trade in its home country. In the Philippines, SNAILWHITE is set to launch eight products, of which two are its star products: SNAILWHITE Whipp Soap (P295, 100g), Kris’ personal favourite and SNAILWHITE Moisture Facial Cream (P995, 30ml).

Watch out as SNAILWHITE launches in the Philippines soon. Products will be available at Watsons and The SM Store nationwide, as well as online via BeautyMNL, Watsons.ph, Shopee and Lazada.

How To Prepare Your Skin Before Waxing

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Waxing is the most common hair removal procedure that woman follow to get rid of unwanted hair from their body. It is a ritual that women usually go through almost every month and while some months may seem easier than the others, it is always a little painful and you need to take out enough time to get it done. If you have been wondering what you are doing wrong before your waxing procedure then here are a few key tricks that you should know so you can stay prepared for the next waxing appointment that you have booked.

Exfoliate

Exfoliation helps to open up all the dead skin cells and takes out all the unwanted dead skin cells that are settled on your skin. This ensures that only your hair is remaining on the skin and it makes it a lot easier for the waxing process to be completed. Exfoliation also helps to take out all the excess oil that your body secretes and this ensures that it is smoother and more comfortable for the professional to wax on. Many people suffer from in growth and oily skin and this could create problems during the waxing procedure which is why it is recommended that you exfoliate just the night before.

Don't Moisturize

Although many people believe that if we apply moisturizer and then go for a waxing session it will be easier for the process to get completed and the hair will come out smoothly, the truth is that the oiliness in a moisturizer makes it difficult for the wax to hold onto the hair on your body and this could take longer for the hair to come off. If you want your waxing process to be as smooth as possible try to stay away from the moisturizer because the greasiness of the moisturizer will make it difficult to wax and it will take longer for the procedure to be completed which will end up being more painful. When you exfoliate your skin just make sure that you wear a cool cotton cloth and head out to the salon to get waxed.

Make Sure Your Hair Is Long Enough

When you have very short hair growing on your hands and legs it is impossible for the wax to hold onto the hair or take it off. If you desperately need to get rid of really short hair on your body you might want to consider using a good quality epilator which will help to target even the shortest hair on your body and get rid of it. However, if you want to stick to waxing then you need to wait for the hair to be at least quarter of an inch so that the wax can hold on to it and pull it out right from the root.

Don't Go Out In The Sun

One of the worst things that you could do would be to go out in the sun and head straight to the salon. The rays of the sun make your skin very sensitive and when you start to wax on skin that was directly exposed to the sun it could create a burning sensation that will make it difficult for you to go through the process. Your skin becomes very sensitive in the sun and since you won't be using any moisturizer or any other cream, make sure that you stay as far away from the sun as possible. It is always better to choose a waxing appointment either early in the morning or once the sun has set.

Choose The Right Wax

If you have sensitive skin then you might want to try out the new chocolate wax that is safer and more effective on your skin rather than the regular wax. Wax beads work really well and they are very good for sensitive skin.

International Filipino-Irish Artist Andreah to Open for Sam Smith's Sold Out Manila and Southeast Asian Shows

Wazzup Pilipinas!

17 year-old emerging international artist ANDREAH is set to open the slew of sold out Southeast Asia shows for hit international singer-songwriter Sam Smith – including his Manila show tonight October 5th at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Andreah’s performance at the concert serves as sort of a homecoming, as the young performer actually has Filipino descent. The Filipino-Irish singer-songwriter started learning the ropes of the music world at an early age – taking piano and voice lessons, and learning how to play guitar and write songs as well. This love for music eventually sparked her interest in pursuing a music career, with one of her earliest achievements having been invited to open for the Irish pop band  The Script for their shows in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Manila earlier in 2018. Aside from this feat, Andreah has also released her debut single “Best Friend”, an original composition that she wrote as a personal ode to her long-time best friend who was migrating to another location.

Aside from the Sam Smith concert, Andreah is is slated to take part of the “It’s A Girl Thing” event at the ABS-CBN Vertis Tent on October 20th.  These concerts and events are set to launch local and regional tours – both in Manila and her other home-base, Singapore, to promote “Best Friend” and her upcoming single “You.”

Given her ambition and musical talent, Andreah is an artist to watch out for in the coming years.

Tugade to Public Officials: Set a Good Example, Respect Security Protocols

Wazzup Pilipinas!

"Having an access pass gives you the opportunity to enter the area but that does not exempt you from following the protocols there. All of us must follow and respect protocols.", this is how Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade views the recent incident involving an alleged security breach at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 on Saturday, 29 September 2018.

On Sunday, a netizen posted a video on social media showing ACTS OFW Rep. Aniceto John Bertiz III deliberately disregarding security protocol. The solon was seen forcibly taking the identification card of the Screening Security Officer (SSO) from the Office of Transport Security (OTS) personnel later on identified as Hamilton Abdul.

In the viral video, which earned the ire of netizens, the lawmaker was also seen to be flaunting his identification card.

Although the incident is currently subjected to further investigation, Secretary Tugade believes that no one, most especially public servants, are entitled to violate international safety and security protocols.

"Dapat yung pagdidisiplina, may kasamang political will. Kung pabayaan mo, uulit at uulit ‘yan. Protocols are set to safeguard security and order in our transportation hubs", Sec. Tugade said.

In a statement, Rep. Bertiz issued a public apology, but insists that there were Chinese-looking men who were ahead of him and were let pass security protocol.

However, contrary to Rep. Bertiz' allegations, Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Ed Monreal said that after having reviewed the CCTV Footage prior the arrival of Cong. Bertiz at the final screening area of the NAIA Terminal 2, there were no Chinese looking men being assisted by NAIA staff who were let pass security protocol.

Further, GM Monreal said he finds no reason to doubt the SSO’s performance of duty citing that it is his duty to implement standard operating procedures to all departing passengers.

"Nareview natin CCTV footage, halos 20 to 29 minutes iyon before the incident pero wala tayong nakitang allegedly Chinese looking men being assisted by NAIA personnel. Pero kung mayroon siyang maipapakitang ebidensya o video ng ibang nakalagpas iimbestigahan din natin,” said GM Monreal.

For his part, OTS Administrator Arturo Evangelista reminded the Congressman, and all other passengers, to abide by the laws pertaining to boarding the aircraft.

“Kung ayaw mo magpa-tanggal ng sapatos, kung ayaw mo magpa-search, okay lang, pero ‘wag ka sumakay sa eroplano. Kasi nasa kontrata yan... Nung bumili ka ng ticket, nakalagay yan dun, na dapat magpa-search ka, pati yung luggage mo. The airline has all the rights not to allow you boarding, kung ayaw mong magpa-search," Usec. Evangelista said.

Meanwhile, Secretary Tugade assured all concerned groups and individuals that fair judgment will be carried out in the course of investigation.

“The incident is far from being over as this should be an eye-opener for public servants to stay humble. We need to follow best practices overseas. We will uphold what is right and what is best for the greater good. We should set a good example as public servants,” Secretary Tugade said.

Suzuki Wheeltek's Jacob Buncio Headed to a Great PSBK Race Season Finale

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The conclusion of the Philippine Superbikes (PSBK) Nationwide Championships 2018 season looks positive for the fastest lady rider in the country today - Suzuki-Wheeltek Racing Team's flag bearer Jacq Buncio with her Suzuki GSX-R1000R. Jacq is competing in 2 events of the PSBK where she is both holding the top ranks and she is on to defend her position at the finale this weekend - October 7, 2018 at Clark International Speedway.

Jacq is racing at the PSBK Nationals Rookie category making her the youngest and the first ever female participant of the event and the PSBK Cup or better known as the Pirelli Cup Heavyweight A class. These two are 6-leg races running under the 2018 National Motorcycle Championships. Considered as another milestone in the country's motorsport history, the Rookie Category is a new addition to the Philippine Superbike National Championships and is a step for the Philippines inspired from the MotoGP, the most sought after motorsport competition in the world.

Our lady rider Jacq might just be the first ever PSBK Nationals Rookie Rider of the Year that the country will see being the frontrunner in this category with 238 points versus her contenders BJ Ang with 168 points and Pocholo Panlilio with 125 points on 2nd and 3rd spots respectively. For the Pirelli Cup, we will see Jacq defending her position with her current points at 188points followed by Pocholo Panlilio with a close 183 points and Rod Valdez with 127 points. The race this weekend will be very intense as we look forward to Jacq protecting her positions to give her fans a sweet back-to-back championship season finale.

Jacq Buncio's success goes alongside the big return of Suzuki on the superbikes racing scene with one of its top dealers Wheeltek Motor Sales Corporation. The partnership between these 3 strong names in the country's motoring scenes aim to continue the unfinished business of the legendary Maico Buncio - one of the most decorated and fastest riders that the Philippines has ever seen. Jacq is racing on board the Suzuki GSX-R1000R which her dad and Team Manager Gregorio Buncio said to be very lightweight even an 18 year old can handle it well. It is the 6th generation and the latest GSX-R sportbike and is considered as the most powerful, hardest-accelerating, cleanest-running GSX-R ever built. It is also the most compact, the most aerodynamic and the best-handling GSX-R1000, with smoother throttle response and better combustion efficiency.

Gary V on Fire!

Wazzup Pilipinas!

One of the most enduring names in the concert scene, Gary Valenciano mounts a concert as a way of giving thanks for his second lease on life.

Only a few names come to mind when you hear the word "longevity."

Gary Valenciano is one of them.

At 50, Mr. Pure Energy is still on top of his game.

After all, the multi-awarded performer, recording artist, producer, actor, host, and celebrity judge has been in love with music and performing since the age of 14. And the public loved him back.

In 1978, a very young Gary appeared in a commercial for Fress Gusto, the defunct soft-drink brand of San Miguel.

Gary then made his official foray into local showbiz a few years later, in 1982. He marked his first showbiz milestone some two years later, or in 1984, when he staged his first solo concert at the Araneta Coliseum.

From then on, there was no looking back for the talented fellow. Gary made hit after hit, milestone after milestone, collecting awards and plaudits as he went along.

As a recording artist, Gary did a number of albums, some of which were released internationally. He holds the distinction of winning the "Best Male Recording" in Awit Awards 12 times.

As an actor, Gary has worked on 14 full-length movies, appearing alongside such famous actresses as Vilma Santos, Sharon Cuneta, Lorna Tolentino, Maricel Soriano, to name a few.

As a concert performer, Gary has performed at sold-out venues in the Philippines and beyond. He's been dubbed as the "Michael Jackson of the Philippines" thanks to his high-octane or "hataw" dance moves on the concert stage.

On top of being an OPM legend, he's been involved in some charitable projects. In 2008, he marked his tenth anniversary as a UNICEF Ambassador.

So it is not surprising that Gary Valenciano, even after successfully dealing with a major health scare this year, is raring to go back to the stage. It's where his heart belongs. This time around, he's not staging a concert for the sake of entertainment. He's doing it for charity as a way of giving thanks for getting a second lease on life.

Titled "Gary V: Mr. Pure Energy in XS," this concert is a musical event that would help raise funds for the Xavier School charities. It will be held on October 13, 2018 at the Xavier Sports Center in Greenhills, San Juan City. “Gary V, Mr. Pure Energy in XS” will be more memorable because his very own daughter Kiana Valenciano will be joining him on stage.

Iloilo and Palawan Back Localized RE Planning

Wazzup Pilipinas!

PALAWAN LEG: Representatives from the civil sector organizations, academe, National Power Corporation, Palawan Electric Cooperative, financial institutions, local government units and the provincial government of Palawan participate in the DREAMS Palawan Stakeholders’ Meeting from 28 to 30 September 2018 held in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

The Department of Energy (DOE) today said the provincial government of Iloilo and Palawan threw their support behind the agency’s project encouraging localized planning to support the development and use of renewable energy (RE).

DOE-Renewable Energy Management Bureau through its “Development for Renewable Energy Applications Mainstreaming and Market Sustainability” (DREAMS) project, concluded a series of consultations with the provincial governments of Palawan (4 September) and Iloilo (26 September).

Aside from supporting the DREAMS project, officials of the two provinces stressed the need for additional knowledge and strengthened capacity in preparing localized RE plans. They noted that such plans should focus on helping boost investments in the RE sector, ensuring compliance with the policies and guidelines of the RE Law and reaching out to unserved communities.

The Energy Committee of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Palawan partnered with the DOE-DREAMS to assist off-grid communities in the towns of San Vicente, Aborlan, Cagayancillo, Brookespoint and Balabac as part of the province’s RE planning strategy.

Similarly, the provincial government of Iloilo expressed desire for additional skills and knowledge on developing an energy to reach out to island barangays with RE resources but are currently relying on diesel power plants, particularly in the town of Carles, Iloilo.

FDCP Leads Philippines as Country of Focus for Busan Int'l Film Fest

Wazzup Pilipinas!

In recognition and celebration of the One Hundred Years of Philippine Cinema, the Philippines has been announced as the Country of Focus of the 23rd BUSAN International Film Festival. As part of the official announcement by the organizers, Philippine Cinema will be highlighted in a number of activities and events during the Festival whose delegation will be headed by the Film Development Council of the Philippines.

FDCP leads the country in one of the biggest film festivals in Asia and the world, bringing in a huge delegation composed of filmmakers and producers who will be participating at the film market, film exhibitions, special screenings and talks as part of the celebration.

"We cannot stress how great of an honor it is to be selected as the Country of Focus in Busan just in time for our centennial. More than highlighting our Cinema, being the Country of Focus means greater exposure for our filmmakers and more platforms for us to showcase this work. Our target for our next hundred years is to go global not just through the prestige of being in festivals but in finding opportunities for coproduction and distribution, and Busan is the best place to start because it offers both when it comes to film market, festival, culture and industry," said FDCP Chairperson Liza Dino during the Agency’s send-off Press Conference for Busan delegates last October 2, 2018 in Quezon City.
