e-Blog Mo Na Yan! Episode September 20: Laughter on Air with the Comedy Cartel

Wazzup Pilipians!

Last Saturday's episode of e-Blog Mo Na Yan!, a segment in the Vigattin Radio show of Radyo Inquirer DZIQ 990 AM in partnership with Elison Barcelo of Vigattin and Ross Del Rosario of Wazzup Pilipinas brought you some of the members of the pioneers in Point-of-View Stand-Up Comedy featuring Rene Cruz Jr. and Juan Miguel "Migs" Alejandrino. We also had guest blogger Alain Yambot-Alejandrino, a blogger of and wife of Migs.

As usual, Den Macaranas and Arne Barcelo, resident broadcasters of Vigattin Radio where there to interview our guests with Wazzup Pilipinas founder Ross Del Rosario. Vigattin CEO Elison Barcelo was also nearby providing technical and moral support...hehehe

Breaking away from the technical aspects after an interview with the weather expert, the members of Comedy Cartel brought some humor a day after the Metro Manila flooding. Most of our countrymen in Manila and nearby areas where all submerged in flood waters due to the surprising bad weather so the guesting of the Comedy Cartel was a much needed break from all the seriousness.

The humor that Comedy Cartel provides is the more professional way of making people laugh. They do not resort to insulting their audience and cross-dressing just to get more people to laugh at them. In fact, they dress up like ordinary people in plain everyday clothes. No fancy outfit, no distracting jewelry or bling-blings

Is stand-up comedy able to provide enough to raise a family or even just yourself. The two comics prefer to say its more of a passion than a source of income. The prestige is probably more important, or simply the power to make people laugh at their punch lines.

I asked Alain if the wit and humor of her husband Migs was one reason why she fell in love with the guy, and she said yes! So that's "pogi" points for any guy who wants to be appreciated by women. A guy with a sense of humor, who knows how to tickle the funny bone of a lady has an advantage to get the girl.

Den was also sharing some laughable inputs as he was able to crack us up as well with his one-liners. Arne was more interested in asking Den to try out the Open Mic Showdown held by the Comedy Cartel. Lol!

I guess everybody can become a stand-up comic if you have the guts and wit enough to cause a commotion among the audience. You also need to be socially aware so you'll have plenty of materials for your jokes. You also need to be able to identify the target audience even before you step on the stage as the joke materials that will work may vary depending on the profile of your crowd.

Of course , after every radio show comes our power lunch at Shakey's Pasong Tamo where we invited our guest for some pizza, fried chicken with mojo potatos, spaghetti and veggie salad.

Shakey's has been our usual lunch venue but we occasionally go to other restaurants whenever we have an invitation from other sponsors or our guests are restaurant owners.

Up next on our show this coming Saturday, September 27, 2014, is Joreen Audrey Baquilod representing Pixy Cosmetics Philippines, a Japanese cosmetics brand that is now available in the country.

Of course, we also have guest beauty blogger Rattus Yu, blogger of, joining us for the interview.

It will be a very interesting topic since it will be all abut beauty and make-up techniques, and the brand is also planning to sponsor a raffle in our blogs soon. Better stay tuned to Radyo Inquirer DZIQ 990 AM this Saturday from 10  to 11 am or watch it from the live streaming.
