Malaya ka na Pilipinas : Champion!

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Dance has many genres, like jazz, ballet, disco, ballroom hip-hop and so on. According to Wikipedia, the dance is a type of art that generally involves movement of the body, often rhythmic and to music. It is performed in many cultures as a form of emotional expression, social interaction, or exercise, in a spiritual or performance setting, and is sometimes used to express ideas or tell a story.

Malaya Ka Na Interpretative Dance contest was supposedly held last August 20, 2103. But because of the heavy rain, it was postponed and moved on September 17, 2013. The weather was a blessing in disguised for us because if the contest was pushed through last August, I think we will not be able to perform the dance well.

After a month of practicing, the competition day has come. The competition is 1:00 in the afternoon. We attended our first subject period first, practice twice the routine, eat our lunch and fix ourselves with the help of our teachers. Before leaving the school, we and some problems in terms of the transportation, the school service was not available so the MAPEH head department decided to just call tricycles just for us to be at the contest venue, Tanghalang Pasigueno, on time.

The contest already started. We will be the 6th one to perform. The first 5 performers gave us tension, because some of their routines are similar to our routine.

After our performance, we prayed and hoping to have a place. We are not aiming and expecting the 1st place. Runner-up is enough for us.

As they say, expect the unexpected. All the runners-up from 3rd- 1st is already called. Our number “6”, is unfortunately not in the runners-up list. We loosed hope because as I’ve said, we’re not expecting to be the champion cause other schools performed well. Unexpectedly, the champion for the Malaya Ka Na Interpretative Dance is no other than Pasig City Science High School, contestant number 6.

And celebration follows…

  1. It's a great experience for our school to join such a contest like this. We were very thankful that PCSHS won the contest.

  2. It's nice to see that Pascians are not only for quiz bees only but also in physical competions like the Malaya ka na Pilipinas. Thank you for representing our school in other schools and win the place as a champion which makes us all proud to be a Pascian.
