Car Maintenance : Solve Your Flat Tire Problems
Wazzup Pilipinas!
Flat tires are inevitable. Pioneer’s Jay Garcia shares a few tips on how to prevent running on a flat tire.
Preventing running on a flat tire:
• Check your tire pressure on a regular basis.
Not all flat tires are caused by punctures. Some are caused by defective air valve, or improper mounting of tires on the wheel rims. If the air pressure goes down even when the vehicle isn’t running, you need to have it checked.
• Follow the recommended air pressure.
Maintaining correct tire inflation prevents tires from weakening, exploding or forming bulges on the surface.
• Have your tires inspected during the vehicle’s Periodic Maintenance Check.
• Check your vehicle’s emergency equipment and learn how to use them.
Some vehicles are equipped with spare tires, while others have tire repair kits. Know how to handle them in case of emergency.
• Use run-flat tires if necessary.
Some tires can run even without air pressure. However, these tires can cost you more or less PhP 20,000 per tire.
• Be conscious on how your vehicle sounds and handles while running.
Weird noises, or if the vehicle veers to one side is a sign of a flat tire.
