Online Romance Scams To Avoid This Valentine’s Day

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Not everyone is looking for love.

Whether you’re in a relationship, happily single, feeling flirty or looking for love, it’s hard to miss Valentine’s Day, with sweet cards, red roses and chocolates wherever you look.

But as with every other celebration through the year, cybercriminals are ready to take advantage. Follow our tips to avoid being duped while looking for love online.

Love at first site? Fake ads and spam

Whatever your relationship status this Valentine’s Day, no one is safe from seasonal scams. Let’s be honest, who isn't curious about a supposed Valentine’s email or e-card?

Unfortunately, Valentine’s Day regularly delivers an increased threat of malware using spam email attacks or fake advertisements and they are often very successful.

Be wary of too-good-to-be-true offers for e-cards, jewelry or flowers. These may land in your inbox, reach you through social media or appear on web pages.

By clicking on links in the ads you may inadvertently download malware or be taken to a fake site where the aim is to steal your credit card information or other personal data, rather than sell you the promised romantic gifts.

My Foodie Valentine: The True Romance Between Love and Food

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Food and love; love and food – definitely two of our favourite subjects in life, these basic human needs are also innately linked. Today we celebrate love and it’s no coincidence that one of the most popular gifts are chocolates, and the most popular activity is spending a romantic dinner with your loved one: There is a profound connection between food and intimacy.

The proverb is true… a man’s heart is through his stomach. Either it is eating well because you’re in love, losing your appetite on a heartbreak, desiring for what is forbidden, food and love are bound together as they produce the same reward hormones like dopamine and norepinephrine, which make us feel good.

It’s a fact: when you are a couple, your lifestyle revolves a bit more around food. Online food ordering marketplace foodpanda (www.foodpanda.ph) found the best, foodiest love quotes and created 7 cards to share with that special person in your life.

What began as a passion project has now evolved into the longest-running sports aviation event in Asia. Wazzup Pilipinas!

Below is an article that talks about the first solo exhibition of Roberto S. Bonifacio at the Renaissance Art Gallery located at the 4th floor of SM Megamall. Written by Cid Reyes, the article shares the many artworks created by the young artist who is only 21 years young.

This momentous event is very memorable for the young prolific artist since it's practically his formal start to make a significant presence to the art community. It is very admirable that there are quite a number of artists that continue to inspire and impress art enthusiasts through their exhibitions and art fairs. We all appreciate such creativity and would love to make their works a part of our homes, offices and communities as decorative pieces full of meaning.

We at WazzupPilipinas.com would like to thank those many people who continue to support our youth in bringing out their talent in the arts. We believe that they deserve all the much needed encouragement to continue expressing their ideas and imagination.

Please read on below and let's visit the exhibit happening on February 13 until the 19th of February.

Isang Sulyap TVC of Camella Homes: Young Hearts Brought Together by a Master-Planned Community

Wazzup Pilipinas!

"A young boy looks up and suddenly his world changes. In an instant, he has been cast out of the boyhood life of toys and comics, playing pranks and computer games and entered into the world of love-at-first-sight-- or was it crush-at-first-sight?

But the first sight may be the last. Or maybe not..."

That was a portion of the description of Camella's newest Television Commercial (TVC) that you can view below about young love between a boy and a girl brought together conveniently by a pet dog that obviously understands his master so much. Yup! All the elements for a romantic teen teleserye love story infused with our love for adorable smart pets are all here.

No adults were explicitly shown in the story because it mainly focused on our three lovable characters which made the TVC a lot more interesting since it was easy to grow so fond of the lingering scenes when the boy seemed to be thinking about the girl he almost met. The last act of the dog was so cute that I wouldn't want to spoil it by giving it away already. It's better that you watch the video clip on your own so you'll appreciate it more.

Just in time before Valentine's Day, Camella creatively introduced its master-planned communities with an interesting and cute love story that speaks directly to the Filipino heart. The video would like to share that "One does not just own a home in Camella. One lives a life."

Radioactive Sago Project Steps Into Eraserheads’ Shoes In “Manhid” This February

Wazzup Pilipinas!

“MANHID: The Pinoy Superhero Musical” brings together not only talented actors, singers, and dancers, but critically acclaimed musicians too! Audiences will be treated to live music in each show, care of the Radioactive Sago Project. The sought-after group is taking over where the Eraserheads left off in 1991, as the production’s live band.

The Radioactive Sago Project’s perennially surprising stylistic excursions have earned them a cult following, from critics to art fans, even to discerning rock audiences. The band is fronted by four-time Palanca Award-winning writer Lourd De Veyra, along with alumni from the UP College of Music, two-time Gawad Urian awardee for Best Music, Francis De Veyra on bass, Jay Gapasin on drums, Junji Lerma on guitars, Pards Tupas on trombone, Arwin Nava on percussions, and Wowie Ansano on trumpet. Eventually, the band added Roxy Modesto (tenor and baritone saxophone) and B-boy Garcia (turntables) to beef-up the lineup.

“We’re greatly honored to be performing alongside the Radioactive Sago Project,” says Ballet Philippines Artistic Director Paul Alexander Morales. “We had a great experience working with them during Rock Supremo, so we are very eager to do so again.”

As the talent-studded cast of “MANHID” will be doing the singing for the show, frontman Lourd De Veyra’s involvement in the production is limited. His brother, Francis De Veyra serves as the production’s Musical Director, which he did for “Rock Supremo” as well. As a whole, the band brings a new vitality to the musical’s songs, which were originally performed in 1991 by the Eraserheads.

Qi Wellness Teahouse and Bathhouse of Tagaytay

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I knocked on this huge red door for one of the most pleasant nights I had in my life. It was almost seven pm and the sky has darkened. My consort and I are cold and tired from the drive. The door opened and we were greeted pleasantly by a man, “Welcome to Chi Wellness!”

Alas! We missed the sunset overlooking the beautiful view of Taal volcano. A marvelous view of the volcano can be grasped even though the darkness of the night covered it. On the other hand, we saw the pleasant night view surrounding the area.

We were toured around the place with a glass kitchen to showcase the artwork behind their dishes. The chef gave a smiling face as we passed by. The big dining area can accompany 20 guests and could be booked privately. A grand event like a bachelorette party, a corporate event or a birthday dinner would be nice to have here.

Going down the stairs, is an even more lovelier place. The bartender offered us cocktails and we hanged out by the bar and were offered the menu. The menu is limited but with absolute taste. It is well thought of by the chef.

Skin Philosophie by Dr. Kyla Talens: Be Among Their Masterpieces Flaunting Beautiful Flawless Skin

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I guess everyone, especially in the Philippines whose people are fascinated with glutathione solutions and whitening soaps and creams, would want to have smooth, flawless and glowing white skin. Unlike in the other countries whose people would spend for tanning equipments and bum under the sun of tropical beaches just to get that perfect tan, we Filipinos would want to look like we belong to the affluent by becoming as white as our foreign counterparts we deem blessed with white or Caucasian complexions.

We also don't want to see blemishes, wrinkles, acne, warts, blackheads, whiteheads and all sorts of skin flaws to make us less confident and appealing. We want the best for ourselves so our physical appearance become one of our primary concerns. Admit it or not, people still have the discrimination against people who look like they belong to the lower class. Since our complexion is obviously the first thing people see, we strive hard to make it more acceptable in the judgmental eyes of many.

This is why many of our fellow countrymen dream of having celebrity-like skin. Sadly, skin care treatments would mostly be expensive for the common people. Blessed are those that can afford to spend a fortune in perfecting a flawless complexion since some dermatologists would normally recommend the most expensive or lengthy treatments.

But there's great news for everyone now that there's a new skin center that was recently opened just last November 2014. Skin Philosophie Medical Aesthetic and Lifestyle Solutions by Dr. Kyla Talens promises to make you their masterpiece - because they believe crafting beauty is an art, and they want you to be among their many fully satisfied masterpieces.

Wazzup Pilipinas at Radyo Uno: Hosting Every Sunday for the Family Business Radio Show

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Your friendly neighborhood Pambansang Blogger ng Pilipinas, Ross Del Rosario, has recently accepted accepted the offer to co-host at Radyo Uno's Family Business radio show which airs every Sunday from 5:00 to 6:30 pm.

They've been wanting me to join them since I first guested with them last December 21, 2014 but I was unfortunately too busy to accept during those times when events and writing obligations were too frequent that even my weekends were blocked.

I am still busy, but I will try my best to host whenever I'm free. Though I'm more focused on online media since I am the type of person who works best at the background, I am open to collaboration even if it means I have to be under the spotlight.

Radio and TV hosting opportunities will be challenging because unlike blogging, I will now be dealing with concerns such as impromptu dialogues (as we won't be always depending on a readily available scripts) and outfit considerations (what to wear at every broadcast since we are on live streaming and it will look awkward wearing the same clothes every airtime).

Our guest last Sunday, February 8, was e-games mobile provider Mirai D3sign Digital Solutions. Both the CEO and Business Development Officer of the company discussed about their very first mobile game app called "Fiesta7" which they are promoting as a leisure game downloadable for free as an Android mobile app via Google Play Store. The game involves just picking 7 numbers and trying your luck to win via randomly drawn numbers for the day.

This is a particularly interesting opportunity for initiatives in Asia to scale up with the help of the ADB’s partners, to improve health and access to sanitation facilities.

Other benefits include trainings and coaching, access to the networks of partners of the ADB and AsianNGO, and exposure in international expos and events.

If you think this is something you or anyone in your network would find this a worthwhile undertaking, please share this information (including the attached poster herein) or nominate an organisation - providing us with their details (name of organisation, contact person, contact information).

For your reference, more details are available online at www.youth4.asia. We hope you can share the attached PNG file on your social media channels.

Again, hope you could spread the word to your network in the region. Application closes on the15th of February.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Blogcaster at Radyo Inquirer

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I've been calling myself as a "blogcaster" for quite a long time already since I joined the broadcasting community on radio as a co-host at the Vigattin radio show of Radyo Inquirer DZIQ 990 AM airing every Saturday from 10 to 11 am.

I genuinely coined the word from the words "blogger" and "broadcaster" to come up with the perfect designation since I've gone beyond blogging already and penetrated the broadcasting world. I would also like to mention the other radio and TV guesting opportunities, plus the upcoming TV segments for existing TV shows at UNTV, and another TV network soon, if ever it gets approval.

I owe the opportunity to be part of radio hosting out from the invitation of Mr. Vigattin himself, Elison Barcelo, to become part of Radyo Inquirer as his guest co-host. I will forever cherish this experience as part of my ever growing portfolio.

Last Saturday, February 7, after several weeks of absence from the radio show due to weekend-scheduled events, I finally had a free Saturday to drop by and join them once again to interview some guests namely the students from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) Junior Marketing Executives group who is currently running a beauty pageant competition among the students of PUP. They brought along 5 out of the 18 pre-selected candidates who are already scheduled to compete in the grand coronation night to determine who will be Mr. and Ms Marketing World for 2015.

This was followed by an interview with our other esteemed guests namely were Israel Brizuela of Pay8Bilis.com and Emil Tapnia of PhilDev.

It usually takes a lot of #Diskarte in order to have a good chance of surviving in this challenging world.

Skycable, the largest cable operator in the country and the leader in the cable entertainment industry, announces another milestone event aimed to help save the island of Boracay - The Sky Life Boracay Weekend.

At a press conference held last February 6, 2015 at Teddy's Bigger Burger EDSA Shangri-La branch, the event was graced by one of the most trusted name in the running community, Coach Rio Dela Cruz of RunRio and working as Race Director of SkyAthon 2015. Mabuhay Germany 2015 Previews Concessionaires at Food Tasting Media Event

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The German appreciation for healthy, well-prepared foods served with care is well known worldwide. My first time to visit a German restaurant was not a disappointment. I loved the traditional German dishes such as Sauerbraten, Bratkartoffeln, sauerkraut, quark and even the usual potato salad done really right. These dishes are also best washed down with a frosty mug of beer.

This is probably why instead of just a traditional press conference, the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (GPCCI), together with its partners that organizes the Mabuhay Germany 2015 event, held a food-tasting media event featuring some German food concessionaires around Metro Manila.

Members of the media, including online media or bloggers, had an opportunity to preview what to expect at the upcoming event. Last year's Mabuhay Germany event was participated by around 50 companies and almost 30 of them were exhibitors offering lots of world-renowned and favorite German food like sausages, schnitzel, doner, sauerkraut and of course, beer.

Mabuhay Germany 2015, just like its previous run last year, will again be held at the Bonifacio Global City on February 21 and 22, 2015. There will be lots of activities like a corporate bingo, an al-fresco event featuring 1980s and 1990s music and, to emphasize, definitely lots of beer.

Philippine Women's University/JASMS Takeover: Is There An Attempt to Influence Public Opinion?

Wazzup Pilipinas!

You may have been following the PWU / JASMS vs. STI issue, which has seen coverage both in the newspapers and in some blogs. One thing that I've noticed is that another website has actually posted excepts of the minutes of more than one board meeting of Unlad (the Benitez family real estate company that holds the land on which PWU and JASMS are situated). If we assume for a moment that nobody in the Benitez family would leak a copy of the minutes to a website that was writing hit pieces on them, who does that leave?

It leaves the non-Benitez appointed directors of Unlad, who are all appointed by Eusebio Tanco (including the Corporate Secretary who drafted the minutes) and no one else. Taking into account the timing of the leak (during a business negotiation between Tanco and the Benitez family) and the contents (excerpts attempting to paint the Benitez family in a negative light) it is easy to see that this move is simply an attempt to influence public opinion against the Benitez family, and rush a decision under pressure.

Take that into consideration when weighing the evidence and coming to your own conclusions.

Feng Shui Paint: Attract Prosperity, Health and Harmony This 2015

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Chinese New Year is coming and people look forward to a fresh new beginning. Everyone’s optimistic about the year ahead and can’t wait to start the year with positive changes like New Year’s resolutions, bucketlists, and even home renovations. In the Philippines, home design and renovations are now done by an increasing number of Filipinos that adapt a Chinese tradition of attracting positivity through the arrangement of one’s home – Feng Shui.

As Angi Ma Wong defines it in ‘Feng Shui Dos & TABOOs,’ literally translated as “wind-water,” Feng Shui is the art of placement and is one of the five components of a person’s destiny. Part of this practice is the proper choice of colors to surround you, to effectively enhance the flow of positive energy in both home and business environment.

This concept inspired the birth of FENG SHUI PAINT. Designed as an indoor wall paint, Feng Shui Paint is made up of colors carefully chosen to suit a person’s lucky color based on their Chinese zodiac sign.

Prescribed by the well-known Feng Shui expert Mr. Johnson Chua, Feng Shui Paint is made to help attract three general life aspects: prosperity, health, and harmony.
