The first 24-hour anime channel in Asia is serving up a fresh crop of anime including express-from-Japan series GRIMGAR, ASHES AND ILLUSIONS, and blockbuster series Assassination Classroom and The File of Young Kindaichi R.

With some new characters and the return of original director Takahiro Omori, the stage is set for what’s been described as “an ending that no one will see coming”.

Durarara x2 3rd Arc premieres on the same day as Japan, on 10 January 2016 at 10pm, Sunday, Same Day as Japan.

The Philippines’ Most Exciting Cities For Real Estate In 2016

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The Philippines’ real estate sector, despite having a somewhat restrained performance in 2015, is far from experiencing a downturn. In fact, real estate developers launched more ambitious projects last year not just in Metro Manila but in other cities as well, and these players are earmarking record capital expenditures, ensuring that the sector’s momentum is sustained over the next few years.

With this, many of the country’s cities will surely benefit from all these real estate investments. Lamudi Philippines lists down some of these cities property buyers and investors should watch out for in 2016.

1. Taguig
Taguig’s population is projected to reach almost 1 million by 2020, which will make it the NCR’s fourth more populous (after Quezon City, Caloocan, and Manila) and the Philippines’s ninth. The city’s real estate sector has been on an upswing ever since Fort Bonifacio was privatized. Several projects now are underway, most notably Megaworld’s McKinley West and Ayala Land’s Arca South. Access to and from the airport (particularly Terminals 1 and 2) and to Coastal Road will also improve when the flyover connecting C.P. Garcia Avenue to the Moonwalk Access Road and West Service Road is finally completed.

DOE Warns Public on Using LPG-refilled Butane Canisters

Wazup Pilipinas!

Due to a number of reported incidents, the Department of Energy (DOE) warns the general public on the dangers of using “LPG-refilled butane canisters” for household consumption. Butane canisters are used only on a “one time” basis and must never be refilled with LPG, which has a higher pressure than butane, and thus may cause accidents (i.e., explosion, fire, etc.) while in use.

The DOE emphasized that these butane canisters are not intended and designed to be refilled, more so with LPG. Based on existing Philippine National Standards for gas containers, only “welded steel cylinders” are designed for storage, transport and distribution of LPG for domestic consumption.

The DOE would also like to reiterate Department Circular DC2014-01-0001 which outlines the rules and regulations governing the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Industry, especially the sets of standards for compliance of all LPG Industry participants (i.e., refiners, importers, refillers, marketers, and even haulers). The circular also stated that illegal or “backyard refilling” of butane canisters is also strictly prohibited under the DOE rules and regulations, as its unsafe operations and substandard facilities posed danger not only within the area but also on its immediate vicinity.

DOE Reactivates Power Industry Task Force for 2016 Elections

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Cognizant of the government’s aim to hold a successful election, the Department of Energy (DOE) once again reactivates the Power Task Force for Election 2016 under DOE Department Circular DC2016-01-0001.

The Task Force, which was formed in 2010, is in compliance with the Commission on Elections Resolution No. 10023 deputizing the DOE, National Electrification Administration (NEA), National Power Corporation (NPC), National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) and the local electric cooperatives to ensure that there is adequate, stable and reliable power supply before, during and after the national and local elections in the country which will happen on May 9, 2016.

The DC particularly outlines specific duties and responsibilities of concerned national government agencies and power stakeholders, such as, ensuring availability and operation of power plants and electricity market, carrying out strategic preventive maintenance of all power facilities, and providing enough technical manpower for emergency response and security of vital power infrastructures, among others.

The Power Task Force Core Group is composed of the DOE as head and NEA, NGCP, NPC, National Transmission Corporation, Power Sector Assets & Liabilities Management Corporation, Philippine Electricity Market Corporation and Manila Electric Company as members.

DOTC Seals Deal With Busan Group For MRT-3 Maintenance

Master Showman German "Kuya Germs" Moreno Passes Away

Wazzup Pilipinas!

After years of sleepless nights of "Walang Tulugan", the Master Showman finally gets his well-deserved "rest".

"In a statement sent to GMA News Online, John Nite said that German Moreno, who is popularly known as Kuya Germs died at 3:20 a.m. due to cardiac arrest, one year after suffering from a stroke.
Nite is Moreno's nephew and co-host in GMA's "Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman."

"He passed on in the company of his family and friends. He lived a full life, touched so many hearts through the years, and helped make dreams come true for most of the biggest stars in the Philippine entertainment industry," he said. "We are deeply saddened by his passing but we are comforted by the thought that his legacy will live on."

The late-night host of Walang Tulugan was confined at St. Lukes Hospital in Quezon City after suffering a stroke, and entered a coma afterwards.

Born on October 4, 1943, Kuya Germs had humble beginnings as he started as a utility worker at the once popular Clover Theater in Manila in the 1950s. He became a stage actor and later a film star. He earned his big break in television during the late ’70s, as host of the Sunday noontime show, GMA Supershow. He soon became host and producer of That’s Entertainment, which launched many local performers into superstardom.

Determining and Formulating Objectives, Lesson Planning and the K-12 Plan

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Lessons are the building blocks of learning. Each lesson has its own prerequisite steps and is also the application of the metacognitive and the scaffolding process. We can say that they are the significant substantial aids in order to assist the students’ acquisition of knowledge as well as their capability to perform, employ and create.

One of the concepts we educators have tackled was Bloom’s Taxonomy, which ultimately tells us the way of distinguishing the fundamental questions and the manifestation of higher order thinking skills like analysis and creation. Formulating objectives which concur with this concept like using words corresponding with the levels of Bloom’s taxonomy is a great start, which is exhibited by one of the K to 12’s defining features which is the spiral curriculum. When it is time for us to create our learning plans, we should make sure that it is understandable in the eyes of our students.

In order to carry out the necessary steps of an ideal lesson, we must first construct effective yet realistic goals. The purpose of a lesson is its heart and the execution is its mind. Instilling the benefits of each lesson is quite achievable, provided that there are appropriate and adept objectives. Placing ourselves in the perspectives of the students and making them aware of possible academic achievements beforehand makes a worthwhile and active learning plan.

Crafting a good learning plan also produces numerous advantages. For one, it helps us educators to make excellent use of our time. Nowadays, with the K to 12 curriculum underway, it helps us promote interaction and student participation. When I am in front, I will remember to follow my prepared learning plan as it guarantees a successful outcome.

BAYAW for President VS Governor Gary Palan, Congresswoman Mimi Hasa and Mayor Delly N. Sha

Wazzup Pilipinas!

"Dear big news network na hindi News5,

Mas mataas na nga ratings niyo, ang laki naman ng budget ninyo, mas malalaki ang sahod niyo, at mas marami kayong tao. Konting originality naman. Grabe na nga kayo maka-delihensiya sa ads. Mukhang namimihasa na kayo e. 'Wag naman pong garapalan. ‪#‎BayawTheOriginal‬" - Lourd De Veyra

Under News5, Rodolfo "Jun" Sabayton plays a nuisance candidate running under B.A.Y.A.W. or the Bagong Alyansang Ayaw sa Walang Hiya platform. It is actually an advocacy campaign to help the electorate choose which candidate is best qualified to lead the country for the next six years.

But rather than just come up with a mere static slogan with a limited shelf life that is not likely to go beyond a briefly trending hashtag, the News5 team decided to go with something more interactive, something that voters could better relate to, something that will stick to people’s consciousness before, during and after the election campaign period.

Thus, the “B.A.Y.A.W. for President” campaign was born.

Pero diretsahan na tayo. GMA 7 daw ay nanggaya ng konsepto sa kanilang latest na political campaign in the person of Governor Gary Palan portrayed by Michael V or Bitoy. Madaming characters lang (Congresswoman Mimi Hasa for Na-mimihasa and Mayor Delly N. Sha for delihensiya) and using Michael V's impersonation talent. Binanggit na ni Generoso Cupal sa last episode ng kotrabando yung character eh. Halata na nasaktan ang team kontrabando. Buhos buhos yun effort pero ginaya lang. Sayang talaga.

Welcome the Arrival of Netflix in PH

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Netflix has expanded to 190 countries including the Philippines. You can watch any TV shows and movies anytime, anywhere for just one flat rate. If you sign up now, you'll get a month for free.

While it doesn't pose an immediate threat to cable and local TV, it still is a game changer in the way media would now be consumed, given that data prices are on a steady decline and becoming more affordable. Also the availability of Movies and Shows day one including original content (like Daredevil, Narcos, Jessica Jones) on demand is a very delicious icing on the cake.

Considering the rapidly declining quality of television shows, this is a good way to introduce better television series in the country, to replace the "teleseryes" that Philippine television has become.

Such was the need for more intelligent television, that some web-series have now become more famous ( or talked about ) than contemporary television series.

I'm sold. While torrents may still exist and provide an alternate means of watching such shows, the provision of a legal alternative will definitely help curb piracy and change the mindsets too.

Dulaang Unibersidad ng Pilipinas Stages Tisoy Brown: Hari ng Wala

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Television and movie actor Neil Ryan Sese returns to his theatre roots in Dulaang Unibersidad ng Pilipinas’s Tisoy Brown: Hari ng Wala.

Famed for his role as Boy, the over-protective older brother to a gay sibling in the award-winning film Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros, Sese is currently an exclusive talent [blv1] of GMA Network. Sese’s role in Huling Pasada as the imagined character Mario of the prolific writer Ruby (played by Agot Isidro) garnered him a nomination for Best Actor from the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino or the Gawad Urian in 2009. Sese is a graduate of BA Theatre Arts from the University of the Philippines Diliman.

In Tisoy Brown, Sese alternates the lead role Tisoy Brown with another veteran stage and indie film actor and director Paolo O’Hara.

Drawing inspiration from Philippine mythology and folklore, Tisoy Brown is a reimagined adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s Peer Gynt, a five-act play in verse and arguably Ibsen’s most widely performed play. Based on and inspired by Norwegian mythology and folk tales, Peer Gynt traverses a series of fantastic adventures: from the land of the trolls and giants to the world of the fools and even to the underworld. In the Filipino adaptation by award winning playwright Rody Vera, Gynt is Tisoy Brown who wrestles the historical with the mystical. Tisoy Brown brings the audience to a journey crisscrossing reality to super-reality and hyper-reality as he struggles with the eternal elusiveness of truth and deception, meaning and purpose.

Eight Interesting Facts About Manila

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Myproperty.ph opens the year with some nostalgic trivia that gives us a historical glimpse of real estate and business.

On January 9, millions of devotees will once again head to Quiapo Church for one of the most-awaited religious celebrations of the Philippines, the Feast of the Black Nazarene. Due to its popularity, the Black Nazarene is considered as one of the things that distinguish Manila from all the other cities of the country.

But being the hodgepodge of culture and history it is, the nation’s capital is a lot more fascinating than you think. Should you find yourself in the vicinity anytime soon, these random facts should help you see Manila in a whole new light.

1. The original Black Nazarene is said to have been carved by an anonymous Mexican sculptor and was brought to the country aboard a Spanish galleon from Acapulco, Mexico, back in the mid-1600s. There are several assumptions as to why the statue depicts Jesus having a very dark complexion. One popular account is that there was a fire on the galleon that brought it to the country burned, which charred the statue. Others believe it’s the result of staining from the smoke of votive candles offered to it through the years. According to Monsignor Sabino A. Vengco. Jr. from the Loyola School of Theology, the original image was carved from mesquite wood, a dark type of wood that was commonly used as a sculpting medium during the period.

Holiday Non-Stop Bus Extends Service

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has granted an extension of the special permit for the temporary Premium Point-to-Point (P2P) Bus Service until January 31 in view of the popularity of the service.

“We are pleased with the positive reception of the bus service, given the increase in ridership over the holidays. The service offers the riding public access to a convenient transportation option that can attract private car owners to shift to public transportation,” said Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Secretary Jun Abaya.

The premium P2P bus service is a new public utility vehicle (PUV) sub-category created by the DOTC that offers commuters another safe and reliable mode of transportation. It allows shorter travel time, as buses depart on a fixed schedule and travel directly from the terminal to the drop-off point.

“Aside from providing significant travel time savings and enhanced passenger experience, this can lessen the number of cars on the road and make more efficient use of road space through higher-capacity vehicles,” added Abaya.

Why Do We Need to Study Language?

Wazzup Pilipinas!

As we all know, language is our medium of communication. Thus, it is only a priority for us to study about and refine our knowledge and skills when it comes to our language.

Firstly, language is very interesting. It is quite enjoyable and it is just one of the many things we’d just love to learn about. Moreover, language serves as our key for us to access each other’s minds and hearts, so to speak. There are ideas and even the simplest but most heartwarming words waiting for us. After all, language is the most powerful instrument ever bestowed upon us. As proven by things like literature and inspirational speech.

With that said, even the most powerful of things have the simplest yet most essential of components. Although the macro skills such as speaking, writing, reading and the like may seem all that familiar and simple, they actually comprise of many more details, technicalities and facts than what we may think. It has many functions, from business, to public speaking, to instruction, to relaxation, and even to affection - and we can appreciate each of them better if we take the time to study. Even if it may seem difficult, it is actually quite enjoyable and it may even give the learner a sense of wanderlust or longing to explore and be adventurous.

Facebook's Oculus Rift: Now Available for Pre-Order

Wazzup Pilipinas!

"After years of development, our virtual reality experience, Oculus Rift, is now available for pre-order!

When you put on Oculus, you'll feel like you instantly teleported into adventures like deep-sea diving, piloting a starfighter or playing in a band on stage. More than 100 virtual reality games and other experiences are coming this year. And long term, I believe virtual reality has the potential to change the way we live, work and communicate in many ways. Today is an important step towards that future.

You can pre-order your Oculus Rift for $599 at shop.oculus.com and we’ll be shipping at the end of March to 20 countries initially.

Oculus Rift is the product of years of cutting edge research and engineering. I'm proud to work with Palmer, Brendan, Nate, Michael and everyone who has worked so hard to open up new worlds for us." - Mark Zuckerberg

The real world is already amazing enough for me. But sometimes you need a virtual world in order to be able to do things that you can not do in real world. The real world could sometimes be pretty shitty - that's why people take drugs. In the real world you cannot slay dragons, or shoot aliens and giant robots.

This is truly revolutionary with endless possibilities. Flight and all sorts of simulation, exploring the human anatomy from the inside, having virtual lessons and seminars, exploring the universe and its composition, having first hand outdoor experiences to name a few.

Imagine combining this technology with our basic education, our daily communication, and even expressing oneself for arts sake. When we come up with new technologies, there will always be the cons but why focus on those when there are tons of positive use for it. It is our own perspective that we should really be responsible for. Kudos to all the people changing our world for the better.

DOE Seeks Collaborative Effort to Secure Mindanao Power Facilities

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Given the heightened insurgency concerns affecting stable and reliable electricity in Mindanao, the DOE strongly calls on the assistance of all stakeholders, especially the Local Government Units (LGUs) to ensure safety and security of vital power infrastructures (i.e., transmission systems, distribution lines and substations), as well as from any obstructions (i.e., bush burning along transmission highways, and planting of trees) under their respective jurisdictions.

The DOE has been constantly coordinating with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), National Power Corporation, concerned LGUs and other energy stakeholders as well as the Mindanao Development Authority, and of course the Office of the Executive Secretary, which is making direct coordinations with the police and the military, to discuss strategies on how to address the situation.

All 14 of the 15 transmission towers that have been toppled or damaged have already been restored, while only the Agus2-Kibawe Line in Ramain, Lanao del Sur is yet to be repaired due to some local issues.

“We appeal to the public in general, particularly to the LGUs and land owners to cooperate with the NGCP, the Concessionaire of the national transmission lines, in securing the transmission system which is crucial to bringing electricity to the people of Mindanao,” DOE Secretary Zenaida Y. Monsada said.

Energy Secretary Monsada also reminded the public that damages to transmission facilities may eventually be part of the transmission’s recovery cost, which is subject to the approval of Energy Regulatory Commission; so cooperation is highly encouraged from everyone. Hence, the DOE requests the people’s vigilance to report suspicious activities in critical areas through the NGCP’s hotline number: 0917-8791-077.

Sentro 1771: Not Just Your Ordinary Culinary Favorites

Wazzup Pilipinas!

It's not my first time to dine at Sentro 1771. But this is the first time I've tried more than two dishes at a time. What can I say, it was a feast fit for a king, and I was so cheerful enough that my seat that day was seemingly like a throne and as if I was wearing a crown privileged to be worn by royalty.

I don't really need to spell it out and you've obviously guessed by now that it was nothing short of a delightful dining experience. I wish there were more words to appropriately give meaning to what I experienced that day. My vocabulary is not enough to accurately express what went on in my mind.

Just like any other event, we were treated with a meal since it was during the lunch hours. But this one seems to be a bit more special since the food served were generously world class. I have to say some of it was very familiar but the way they made the taste become so spectacular is beyond any adjectives available in the dictionary.

Sentro 1771 keeps on surprising me with its tasty dishes that more than just comfort food for me. They may be hinting on Filipino dishes but it's like home-cooked elevated to the next level.

Market Basket Seafood Paluto: Lunch Is Served and Very Well Indeed

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Seafood has been number one on my list ever since childhood. It will be forever on the top as it has never failed to please me whatever culinary style the chef comes up with. For me, whether it fusion or traditional, spicy or insanely out of this world, nothing beats seafood dishes.

This is why whenever someone asks me where I prefer to eat, I always would loudly utter anywhere that serves seafood! You can't simply miss out on really splendid dishes if its main ingredient is a creature from the sea.

I recently discovered a seafood restaurant in Tagig after a friend suggested we go there for lunch.

Market Basket is under the Chefs’ Quarter Group  which are composed of Chefs’ Quarter Restaurant, Beurre Blanc Restaurant and Wine Bar, Old Vine Grille, Kuse Traditional Filipino Cuisine, Uncle Cheffy’s Brick Oven Global Cuisine, and a few more. It was no surprise to see an Uncle Cheffy's resto  combined with the restaurant. You can actually order from both restaurants and eat them at any part of the joint venue.

Of course, I preferred to order seafood as it has always been my top choice when ordering for a meal outside of our home. Though I also try my best to persuade my wife to only serve the healthier seafood and an occasion of chicken dishes when we are all getting tired of eating fish, but still manages to sneak in pork and beef dishes because she says she can't fight the temptation to have them. She never had the convenience to eat them during her childhood so she always craves them to feel good about herself now that she can afford to buy them.

Bistro Ravioli: You Can't Get Enough Of This Pizza and Pasta Heaven

Wazzup Pilipinas!

You'll definitely keep coming back for more! From the raviolis to the pizza and even the dessert that are way better than the "exclamated" word "Awesome!"

Coming up with a new word -"exclamated"  - only means I was so satisfied with our dining experience that it deserves a round of applause and so many recommendations of the highest kind.

Truth be told, I am not a real lover of pasta dishes, but Bistro Ravioli undoubtedly changed my mind. It is not an exaggeration. I really flipped over the delightful experience. I was not hungry that lunch time since I had a late rice breakfast. But the food were just so good to resist. I ended up bloated yet with a sincere smile on my face.

Though I never got to see the menu because it was not a restaurant review event. I'm sorry but I was so overwhelmed that I forgot to even take a photo of the names of the dishes so if in case you know them, do put them in the comments section.

Bistro Ravioli definitely deserves a lot of exclamation points for having pasta dishes that are both superb in taste and appearance. You'll be tempted to dig in immediately as soon as the dishes are served. You'll keep eating after one bite.

Do I need to say more? Come visit their branch at SM Mall of Asia - they are somewhere in the middle - and get ready for a gastronomically explosive moment that you'll want to experience again and again.

Enjoy the photos below!!!

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Weeks had passed and I've enjoyed it so dearly because of my recent selfie gadget - the MyPhone Rio Pixie which comes with its own matching color "selfie stick." The monopod is inside the box itself!

Mine had a light yellow "selfie stick" in the box aside from the usual charger and earphone. This is no ordinary selfie stick as its grip is really tight enough to keep that smartphone intact.

I used to experience smartphones falling from the selfie stick because of poor grip of low quality versions thus this combo was a real blessing to make me join the millions of selfie lovers to frequently do selfies in every occasion that deserves some immortality - to keep in memory as an unforgettable experience.

It's a great conversational piece since many have been noticing how often I use it. There was even a foreigner who would often photobomb, and videobomb, my shots. Needless to say, the MyPhone Rio Pixie smartphone is great for both photo and video shoots.

It's the best excuse to do group photos or "groupfies" as most people want to join you in the shot - all ready with their own smile and pose. If I had a bigger memory card, I would be doing selfies all day.

It's a great gadget to bring along for trips to different destinations in the country and even outside. You'll cherish lots of shots taken using the MyPhone Rio Pixie which can be purchased at a price competitive with many smartphones of its range.

Battle Of The Machines Is On With Ground-Breaking Robot Combat League

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Taking ultra-modern times into a whole new level is Robot Combat League, a one-of-a-kind game of wits and brute force. By combining tremendous human will and the super strength of machines, this is an ultimate showcase of first-class action. With 12 equally deserving teams, each composed of a “robo-jockey”- the fighter, and a “robo-tech” – the robotics engineer.

Wearing exo-suits allows the human controllers dictate the machine’s movements, these fighters crash, collide and basically take to destroy each other to provide exhilarating action to viewers. The participants come from extremely diverse backgrounds – witness a race car driver, a National Guard pilot, even an Olympian (among others) take the stage.

There are a dozen robots, each with its unique look and power features. Each fight consists of three rounds, with the winner advancing to the next match.

Where is Rey Skywalker in the New Star Wars Monopoly Game?

Wazzup Pilipinas!

"The Star Wars: Monopoly game was released in September, months before the movie's release, and Rey was not included to avoid revealing a key plot line that she takes on Kylo Ren and joins the Rebel Alliance." - Hasbro

Are you in agreement to this excuse? Well, why not. There seems to be some truth in the statement. Though the Force will not be as strong for this one. But maybe not. Because this gives Hasbro a great excuse to come out with another version of the Monopoly game which will now include Rey Skywalker.

Hopefully, to join Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Darth Kylo Ren and Finn (FN-2187), will be Rey Skywalker since she is after all the lead star of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie. This can be clearly seen on the movie posters. Lucas Films and Disney has made it very evident that Rey has a lead role. Though it would really have been a spoiler if she was seen using a light saber as a weapon. But that could have been easily avoided if they just let her pose with her original weapon.

Daisy Ridley also deserves to have her spot on all the new Star Wars merchandises. Girls who adore her as a role model would want to play with her. Even boys with raging hormones would want to "play" with her image. lol!

Michelin’s Tyres for Dakar 2016

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Michelin will be the most active tyre manufacturer on the 2016 Dakar, the world’s best-known cross-country rally and an event that permits open competition between tyre manufacturers. The French firm will provide rubber for the majority of the 354 vehicles entered for January’s competition.

Peugeot Sport, which made its Dakar comeback in 2015, has entered four Peugeot 2008 DKRs for this year’s rally. They will be in the hands of Cyril Despres, Dakar rookie SĂ©bastien Loeb, StĂ©phane Peterhansel and Carlos Sainz who will all run on the new MICHELIND16 (D16: ‘Dakar 16’) which was developed especially for the front-wheel drive car.

The MICHELIN D16 is much more than a mere evolution of the D15which made its Dakar debut last January. It has been revised from A to Z and features both a new construction and a new tread pattern. It is also lighter.

It was designed to match the demands of the latest Peugeot 2008 DKR and delivers improved grip on all types of ground, enhanced driving comfort and greater stability under braking. A busy test programme in 2015, which included visits to the Moroccandesert, enabled the two partners to sign off the latest version which will allow the French team’s drivers to enjoy improved performance and safety.

“Our involvement in cross-country rallying represents a very big challenge and sends out a strong signal,” saysMichelin Motorsport Director Pascal COUASNON. “We use all the disciplines in which we compete as laboratories to developnew technologies and the Dakar stands out as one of the most extreme testsof them all. Cross-country rallies are the best way to collect data in conditions that are difficult to reproduce, but they are also a formidable adventure where we work with world class drivers and riders.”

Smartphone Sepanx: What Powers Mobile Advertising in the Philippines

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Probably the only thing that’s growing faster than the population of the Philippines is the population of mobile phones in the country. To date, mobile phones outnumber the population by 5%, and smartphones are expected to overtake feature phones before the end of the year at 43%-37%, respectively. This should come as no surprise because Filipinos’ penchant for mobile in general, and social media in particular, has resulted in titles such as Selfie Capital of the World and Social Media Capital of the World. Most recently, the country even broke Twitter’s record of most number of tweets for #AldubMostAwaitedDate and #NationalPabebeWaveDay.

Needless to say, smartphones are here to stay. But though it may be the most accessible platform today, it remains to be the least maximized in terms of advertising. Which is why through Epinion’s 27,076 robust online panel of netizens, Omnicom Media Group (OMG) sought out to discover uniquely Filipino trends that would illuminate the secrets to employing mobile advertising to its fullest.

Says OMG CEO Mary Buenaventura, “Our goal was to identify behaviors, whether positive or negative, Filipinos have toward mobile and align them with corresponding behaviors and preferences that advertisers can leverage on to engage the mobile Filipino. Turns out, Filipinos are not only dependent on mobile, the exponential rise of smartphones will make us even more so.”

The Use of Motivation in Teaching and in Learning

Wazzup Pilipinas!

In almost any case, motivation is the energy and vitality that pushes things forward. The educational environment is definitely no exception; in fact, it recognizes the value of motivation all too well. I believe that a classroom brimming with motivation is a passionate teacher’s paradise. I truly think that employing motivation is quite an enjoyable part of teaching. All I need to learn is how to find the right way to do so.

As of this time, I can’t wait to show my passion in educating and motivate my future students too; however, being a down-to-earth teacher, students will not always pay heed to me especially with their natural attention span. I’m certain there will come a day when I am effortlessly able to grasp their interests and I hope that day will come really soon.

According to my sources, there are multiple components in order to ensure a motivated class. First, I have to possess an amazing attitude, which is relative. Second, I have to be interesting, obviously. Third, I have to perfectly include each member of the class and make sure that they are all part of the discussion. Everyone is unique and can be the source of new possibilities. Fourth, learning competencies should be attainable – preferably moderately difficult – since not all of us would want a lesson that’s too difficult or otherwise – at least not me, that is. Next, leadership is also crucial, along with the things that follow such as the right amount of expectation, structure, feedback and support. The last sentence can be compared to the “authoritative” parenting style wherein there is enough demandingness and responsiveness from the parent, or in this case, the educator. Finally, we have to let them discover just how satisfying and learning can be.

All of these can be attained with the use of proper authentic materials as we have learned before, and these materials can come in all things, which makes it more of a challenge to teach.

Diverse Teaching Techniques, Strategies and Learning Styles

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Yet another of the countless features and qualities which define our individualities is the fact that we employ different learning styles. Knowing these learning styles is quite enjoyable and will serve as an advantage when employing the right methods for us, as well as for our students to learn and help them nurture their own abilities to perform, create and many other skills best.

Among the seven learning styles, – namely, Visual, Auditory, Verbal, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, Logical and Kinesthetic – mine concurs most with the first three. Even if I wasn’t gifted in the field of art, it is only natural that I like to learn best given that the thing I am learning about is something I can see for myself. Paired with the Auditory learning style, I find these two quite fortunate to be my learning styles since I am often exposed to these two the most when it comes to formal or informal schooling like watching educational videos.

Whenever I am asked by my classmates about how I speak so fluently and accurately, I always inform them that it is because of my frequent voluntary exposure to Visual and Auditory authentic materials. I believe the Auditory learning style includes all things heard like words, music and the like so that covers a broad area indeed.

Presuming that I have acquired these results along with my classmates, one of my three best learning styles is linguistic capability - words, grammar, the macro skills, and all that. This is one of the intelligences that I am aware about myself which encourages me to take up a profession wherein I can use my skills to make a difference.

As with everyone else, while I am aware of some of the indicated qualities, such as my love for learning and observation, there are still traits which could have remained subconscious, if I were not to discover them by means of accomplishing the test. A clear example of this is the fact that another style was interpersonal or social intelligence. Some of my classmates may reckon with otherwise because they know me as a diligent person who ultimately prefers solitude. Then again, being silent does not necessarily mean I cannot be socially adept. Moreover, it is very appropriate and expected of us as educators to be interpersonally adept since interacting with people constitutes an essential part of our profession.

Carrying out the task of teaching is not easy. We have to be aware of their learning styles by carrying out diverse teaching techniques and strategies, encouraging us to be creative and reminding us to frequently use our minds, even if we ourselves are not formally enrolled in a curriculum, encourage them to perform and create things of their own, and show that they are allowed to make mistakes. It is our undertaking to teach them how to accept criticisms well and perceive them as opportunities to see what things they can improve upon. Teaching isn’t really teaching; our mission is to provide energy most conducive to fuel their environment to learn. After all, “We don't learn to walk by following rules. You learn by doing it in real life and by falling over;” and that’s alright!

My Overwhelming Strengths Revealed

Wazzup Pilipinas!

It has been said that each person has his own strengths and weaknesses; whether a person considers a quality as either the former or the latter is relative, and everything that falls under them are various qualities that make us unique, distinctive and above all, human.

After having taken the intelligences test at literacynet.org, I’ve unveiled, yet again, a few other qualities about myself. According to the test, my top three intelligences, or top four rather, are, first and foremost, language, second was Social, and the third was a tie between Intrapersonal and Musical intelligence. Kinesthetic and Mathematical intelligences follow behind and the last one was Naturalistic intelligence.

Presuming that I have acquired this results along with my classmates, one of my three best intelligences and apparently the first of them is my linguistic capability - words, grammar, the macro skills, and all that.

A clear example of this is the fact that my second best intelligence was interpersonal or social intelligence. Sunburst Saw Palmetto: Effectively Reduces Severity of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

Wazzup Pilipinas!

They say life begins at 40, and I have to say it's true since life becomes a little more complicated. The signs showing you're at your ripe age of 40 are very evident regardless if you've been really careful in maintaining your physical appearance. There will be signs like permanent loss of hair, or baldness, that aging men would experience. Sadly. there are a few more health problems to worry about such as enlargement of the prostate.

The prostate is a small organ about the size of a walnut, found only in men. It is located under the urinary bladder and in front of the rectum in the pelvic cavity. It produces some of the fluid in semen and is crucial to a man’s sex life. The fluid helps to nourish and protect the sperm during intercourse and forms the main bulk of ejaculate volume. The muscular fibres in the prostate plays a part in controlling urine flow by contracting to slow the flow of urine.
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is the most common prostate problem for men over 40. It is the enlargement of the prostate that cannot be cured as it is a natural part of aging in men. Although the prostate gland grows during much of a man’s life, urinary flow problems usually appear only after the age of 40 as a consequence of the final growth phase. Hormonal changes that take place as men age are responsible for BPH or enlargement of the prostate.

Most men who reach the age of 40, start to experience hormonal changes and this causes the start of the symptoms of enlargement of the prostate or Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). Although BPH is not life threatening, it causes much discomfort and could lead to worse diseases like kidney and prostate cancer.

Globe Business Drives Growth Of Logistics, Transport Industry In PH

Wazzup Pilipinas!

In a recent study by the Transport Intelligence, a leading independent source of research and analysis for the global logistics market, the logistics industry in the Philippines is expected to have a Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 10-16% from 2013 to 2020. The actual growth rate will depend on how well the country’s performance will improve in the Logistics Performance Index. Some of the key factors considered are the quality of logistics services and the ability to track and trace consignments.

The adoption of technology plays a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of quality logistics and transport services. Information systems and transport and logistics chains intertwine with each other since good information management is essential for a transport company to perform and conduct fully-integrated operations. Information and communications technology (ICT) facilitates the interconnection of service production processes which could improve functions and services, thus affecting the demand for transport. With this trend, the logistics and transportation industry looks to Globe Business and its portfolio of ICT solutions to meet the demand for faster delivery and routing.

Globe Business offers an array of solutions that address the challenges of logistics companies.

With Canvas Mobile Forms, manual writing of delivery details and the risk of committing an error while encoding customer information becomes a thing of the past. Users can now capture information like e-signatures, images, GPS, barcodes and QR codes electronically on a smartphone or tablet and send it in seconds.

Wazzup Pilipinas!

May ari ng Discover Boracay Hotel & Spa na Koreano tinanggihan na mag check in ang isang Sundalong Pinoy at sinabihang "“No Filipino! No Filipino! No Filipino!"

Below is the actual statements as grabbed from an account going viral over social media. You be the judge.

"Calling All Filipinos and the Government. At 10pm of January 1, 2016 I was refused to check-in and avail the VIP Lounge of Discover Boracay, an Airport Lounge in Kalibo International Airport that cost Php300 saying they only accept South Koreans.

I am to avail of the service because my flight is at 5am going to Cebu. In photos below, I approached the lady Filipina Staff at the cashier where inquiries and payment are made.

Me: Ms I'd like to use the VIP Lounge.

Lady Staff: Naku sir sa ngayon sa mga Koreans lang po nila inooffer ang lounge.

Me: Are you serious? Bakit sa kanila lang?

Lady Staff: Korean po kasi ang may ari sir.

The Burning of the Effigies by the Colombians: Kalma Lang, Hindi Natin Kailangang Bumawi

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The controversial burning of Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach and Steve Harvey effigies in Colombia enraged netizens in the Philippines. Even Filipinos living in other countries have something to say against the Colombians, especially the guy seen burning the effigies.

This prompted Ethel Booba to post on her Twitter account another humorous reply towards the action of the Colombian. She seems to be in a roll and keeps coming up with witty rebuttals to all the ludicrous realities out there.

Imagine what it would be like if we are with her 24/7? Must be a lot of rolling on the floor laughing out loud like there's no tomorrow.

It was necessary for everyone to react because by that act alone by the Colombians, they have shown the world, the universe rather, that they are not confidently beautiful with a heart. Bitterness does not tell beauty, and it is an attribute of its exact opposite. Why blame the Philippines? Move on!

Clickbaits: You Wouldn't Believe Why I Wrote This, What Happens Next Will Shock You!

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Everyone's reaction was priceless! What you will witness will restore your faith in humanity!

Have you resorted to applying the art and science of writing effective headlines or click-worthy lines that would tempt the readers to click and read the actual story?

These type of clickbait lines really works to lure traffic to your website but ...the big butt ..I mean BUT is .... you are nothing extraordinary if your actual content is rubbish. You just created a lot of hype but under-delivered.

However, "“If your headline isn’t good, your article is irrelevant. And if your article is irrelevant, then you’re not getting any traffic."

But how do we really write a good headline that is shareable, draws people in, and is not manipulative?

Most people wanted to get lured in by clickbaits. As they browse through their timelines in Facebook or read new posts all over their other social media accounts, the search for an interesting headline is bound to lead to one or two, or more, clickbaits. What exactly is the phenomenon that entices us to click?
