DOTC Awards Contract for Puerto Princesa Semi-Permannet Airport Terminal Building

The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) awarded on 30 September 2013 infrastructure contracts for the execution of various civil works at four (4) airports in the Visayas and Mindanao.

The contract for the Semi-Permanent Airport Terminal Project at the Puerto Princesa Airport was awarded to D.G. Sarmenta Construction in the amount of P 21,495,653.43, which is lower than the bid ceiling of P 22,682,431.07.

“This will improve passenger convenience by allowing the airport to meet increasing tourist arrivals in the meantime that long-term upgrades are being done,” said DOTC Spokesperson Migs Sagcal. “We are aiming for this to be up by summer next year.”


Other improvement contracts were also awarded for the following projects:


  • The Dipolog Airport Development Project was awarded to V.T. Lao Construction in the amount of P 26,695,751.89. The bid ceiling was originally set at P 34,256,439.56. The project involves the construction of river protection and runway strip grade correction.
  • The Zamboanga Airport Development Project was awarded to Advance Tech Construction & Trading Corporation in the amount of P 5,738,808.80. The bid ceiling was originally set at P 6,019,216.26. The project involves creek de-siltation; de-clogging of box culvert; and construction of a steel strainer.
  • The Catarman Airport Development Project was awarded to Vesa Engineering and Construction in the amount of P 7,520,088.88. The bid ceiling was originally set at P 7,563,953.07. It covers asphalt overlay of the runway and construction of the perimeter fence.

The transport agency has saved over P 9-Million from these projects, which the government can now use to accelerate spending in order to boost the country’s economy through the Disbursement Allocation Program (DAP).
