Athena : The Goddess of Wisdom

First of all, I want to express my salutation and adoration for Athena. I don’t adore her to the extent of worshiping her. I just simply admire her for her qualities. Athena is the epitome of a woman. She is the goddess of strategic war, wisdom, crafts, justice and inspiration. She became the patroness of Athens by simply because she has the qualities to be so.

As I read through the myths about Athena, one statement caught my eye. It says, “Though Athena is a goddess of war strategy, she disliked fighting without purpose and preferred to use wisdom to settle predicaments.”

This statement is so unlike her. She is the goddess of war; she has the every reason to settle every dilemma she has through violence. But the goddess she is, she chose wisdom over blood-spilling to settle complications around her. Unlike other Olympian goddess, who, sometimes, only cares for physical appearance. She is all about productivity and equality.

As I said, Athena is the goddess of war and wisdom, but she chose to use the weapon of wisdom instead of morbidity and violence. It’s completely opposite of what she really is. It’s as if you have a gun in your hand but you didn't pulled the trigger. If only every human being could replicate Athena, then we wouldn't need guns for weapons.

  1. Hi Mikaela! Like you I also admire Athena because of her wisdom. I agree with you that using your wisdom is the best way to solve problems or misunderstandings. Violence will only make things worse. Well, I like this article of yours about Athena, it is different from others who explained only the birth and some characteristics of Athena.

  2. For me, Athena is the best representation for woman empowerment, too. Being tagged as the goddess of strategic war, she only affirmed that women can also enter the fields where men are dominant.

Sentence Construction: I want to give the author a round of applause for writing such a short, yet expressive article. Aside from the error in usage of verb in the last paragraph, there is no other major mistake in the article that I could think of. I fell in love with the last part. Comparing Athena to a person who knows his limitations in using a gun was a great move!
Paragraph Organization: There are some thoughts which are repeated, but were rephrased. But all in all, the chronology of the paragraphs is understandable.
