Water Sports Equipment: 6 Must-Know Facts

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

Water sports are exciting activities to engage in, especially during summer. These sports give a next-level thrill that you cannot find on land. They’re so popular that there are even sports betting sites with slots for water sports. The IRS requires betting companies to deduct 24% of total winnings and submit as gambling winnings taxes. However, these sports are associated with some level of risk. To keep enjoying the sports, understanding various equipment and how to keep yourself safe is essential.

Understanding the Dangers That Come with Water Sports

Drowning is one of the leading causes of death in water sports. When you are at a beach, pool, or lake, ensure you practice the following swimming precautions:

  • Learn CPR techniques so you can deal with any emergencies.
  • If you don’t know how to swim, don’t get into the water.
  • Always have company when swimming.
  • Do not swim while drunk.
  • Ensure you can always spot a lifeguard while in the water.
  • Carry safety gear such as flashlights, toolbox, and maps.
  • Avoid restricted areas and obey warning signs.

It is vital to understand water sports equipment and how it works. Some widely used gear includes dry and wet suits, snorkel masks, life jackets, water skis, canoes, and wake surfers.

Dry and Wet Suits

Drysuits keep you dry while in the water or on the surface. They are made of waterproof and breathable fabric to prevent overheating. The suits are watertight and waterproof, hence keeping all the water out and keeping the body warm. Drysuits also come fitted with purge valves to let out any water that might have gotten in.

Wet suits, on the other hand, retain your body’s heat, hence providing thermal protection. They preserve the body’s heat through the suit’s material and a thin layer of water that make up a protective barrier that allows your body to stay warm for a long time. These suits come in varying thicknesses. The thicker the suit, the more warmth it can retain.

Life Jackets

Life jackets are essential to avoid drowning, hence saving your life. They come in handy in moments of disaster, whether you are a skilled swimmer or not. The jackets are available in different fits and keep you warm while in the water.

Snorkel Masks

A full-face snorkeling mask comes in handy when snorkeling due to several reasons. First, the mask helps to keep water out of your face and provides better visibility. Secondly, it allows normal breathing hence keeping you calmer.

Water Skis

Waterskiing is fun and exciting but can be dangerous if not done carefully. To avoid injury, revisit the hand signals between you and the boat operator. Also, avoid skiing at extreme speeds if you are not used to it. To prevent any accidents, remember to inspect your gear before you set out.

Canoes

Canoeing can be relaxing and fun, but it is also important to remember some safety tips on your next canoeing trip. Always carry life jackets and avoid jerky movements to prevent the canoe from flipping over. Also, avoid rocks and always stay low to avoid losing balance.

Wakesurfers

You can consider trying wake surfing if you haven’t already. But while you are on it, avoid high speeds if you are not used to wake surfing. Also, go for a clear spot to avoid collisions with other boats.

Final Thoughts

While water sports can be thrilling, they can result in dangerous accidents that can sometimes turn fatal. To avoid this, ensure you always familiarize yourself with water sports equipment before you set out. Also, as a general rule of thumb, consult a professional before using these water sports equipment.

Online shopping for an Android TV

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

I already made a choice for my Android TV purchase ... It was based mostly on convenience (ordered and paid online - though I did visit their physical branch nearby last Monday to see and compare units but there were only a few units and brands available there). The other factors like specs and price were considered as secondary.

I was also struggling whether to pick an Android TV or a Smart TV...aside from the screen size whether to pick the smaller and thus cheaper sizes or get the bigger sizes of 50" and above. My worries was a large screen may be too difficult to hang on the wall since it may be too heavy for me. But I still ended up getting the latter...I'll just get help somehow rather than choosing almost the same size as our existing Smart TV. I just really wanted to experience something new. A new toy to reward myself for being a good boy.

So I ordered online, and the expected delivery date is at the end of the month (August) or so I thought....Though I had no worries if ever it takes longer since I'm not really in a hurry. We just wanted a bigger screen to watch videos aside from our laptops or mobile phones.

However, I once ordered a fully automatic washing machine from the same online store last year, but got the item earlier than the estimated delivery dates. Got the item in just three days. Therefore, there's a possibility the TV would also be delivered earlier than the estimated dates (after six days onwards)

Update: I was notified that the delivery is already scheduled Thursday meaning it only took three days from the day (Tuesday) when I ordered online at abenson.com.

Wow! Ang bilis talaga! Thanks Abenson, you've been making my appliance shopping a lot easier.

eSports Shoutcaster Dunoo, brainchild of 'Lakad Matatag', passes away due to COVID-19

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

It is a sad day for the Dota community and Filipino esports as we have lost one of our voices.

It is with a heavy heart that we inform everyone about the passing of shoutcaster Aldrin "Dunoo" Pangan. Hi's legacy will forever be immortalized in the halls of esports history.

One of the iconic Filipino caster duo behind "Lakad Matatag" passed away from COVID-19.

For those unfamiliar, Boss Dunoo was half of the duo that gave us the lines that @OGesports and all of us love to spam - Lakad Matatag, Easiest Money of my Life, etc. He is an absolute icon and legend in the PH casting scene for his energy and creativity.

He brought Filipino casting to the world stage, igniting the trademark "lakad matatag, normalin normalin!" to everyone's ears.

Lakad matatag divided our Dota 2 experience into before and after. Chat wheel wouldn't have been the same without this man.

His passion for PH Dota and the PH teams was unrivaled.  Filled me with hype any time I listened to his snippets. Honor him by making all his voicelines permanent.

The fact that he was the guy behind five most memorable chatwheel in Dota cements his passion to this game with his casts. Without him I would never knew about Lakad Matatag, OG spams the chatwheel and Gaben even said it in TI8 opening. Truly a legend and literal GOAT.

Gaben should consider putting back the Lakad Matatag Chatwheel in his memory. That's the least thing in Dota community can do in his memory.

Shard seasonal treasure fall collection will start this September. It would be great if we can bring back lakad matatag chat wheel on guild rewards so players can spam it at the beginning of the game and show their respect to Dunno.

Titans fall but are never forgotten. Lakad matatag till the end. His legacy will echo slamma jamma for years to come.

Lakad matatag, Kuya D. Lakad matatag in peace Dunoo, you will be missed.

Lakad matatag, Kuya D.

He changed the PH Dota 2 esports scene and made so many amazing contributions to the community. A big inspiration to many gamers up until this day.

A super huge loss to the world... My condolences to all his friends and supporters who's also been through a lot. I can't imagine how devastated you guys are with all this...

Nakaka inis sa totoo lang. This fuckin' virus... and everything about covid. Fuck covid, and fuck the incompetents who are robbing this country of so many bright futures.

I'm not someone who's in the Esports scene, but I'm a witness to how Kuya D works.

I have nothing but utmost respect and admiration to how he does his passion and hussle and how big of a contribution he has on this world, especially to PH Esports. Nothing will be the same without him.

Lakad Matatag. Normalin, Normalin.

He was the legendary voice that transcended language barriers. The voice of our best esports moments. One of the greatest Pinoy shoutcasters who's ever lived.

Today, we could only wish there's a buyback in life. Sana may buy-back sa tunay na buhay..yung tipong iipon ka ng good deeds...do good and be good...and if it is enough... pwede ka mag buy-back...

kahit once lang...

Thanks for everything, Dunoo. "Lakad matatag" will be immortalized in the DOTA annals...

Can't really believe na wala na si Kuya D, the most explosive caster in pinoy dota. Lon-Dunno tandem is no more. RIP kuya D.

Keep safe everyone. We don't respawn neither can buyback in this world.
