Inauguration of expanded and improved Siquijor Seaport

More vessels and larger ships can now be accommodated by the expanded and improved Siquijor Seaport which was inaugurated on Thursday, 26 August 2021 by Department of Transportation Secretary Art Tugade.“With the improvements that we are doing at the airport and seaport, soon, Siquijor will be known as ‘Isla del Progreso.’ In other words, you will now have a massive change in connectivity at the seaport of Siquijor,” Sec. Art said.

The port expansion project covers the construction of an RC Wharf with Ro-Ro ramp and a back-up area.

Twenty-five units of solar lights were also installed in the port. This translates to lower electricity cost and will reduce the port’s carbon footprint.

With its improved facilities, the port now allows for faster vessel turnaround time and a shortened waiting period for passengers and shippers. This will eventually reduce the queueing of rolling cargo.

Siquijor Governor Zaldy Villa, in his message during the inaugural ceremony, told the Transportation Chief that the development projects in the province will truly impact the locals' way of life.

“Before the pandemic, there was a demand for us to upgrade due to the increased number of trips coming from Cebu, Bohol, and Dumaguete. This pressured us to look for additional funding sources,” he pointed out as he explained the necessity of the said infrastructure.

“Whenever we have events, the Siquijornons will chant: 'Dream Siquijor!' and now, it has already come to light. Our dream is already a reality! Taus-pusong nagpapasalamat po kaming lahat kay President Rodrigo Duterte at DOTr Secretary Art Tugade for helping us achieve this,” Gov. Villa expressed.

Prior to the upgrade, the Siquijor Seaport can only service a maximum of four (4) ferries. With the renovation works already completed, it can now serve up to eight (8) vessels with provision to handle a 65-meter cargo ship and can service two Ro-Ro vessels at the same time.

The upgraded Siquijor Port will also boost equitable and inclusive growth in the areas of employment, local trade, and investments.

When it was being upgraded, the port generated 35 jobs. Moreover, with development projects now complete, the Siquijor Port is expected to further open more job opportunities for residents of the province, particularly in the tourism sector and other tourism-related industries.

Earlier in the day, Sec. Art also inaugurated the Siquijor Airport. These two transport infrastructure projects are vital for the economic and tourism growth of the province.

Duterte says he will audit the COA, all agencies and himself if he wins as VP

President Rodrigo Duterte asks the public to trust him and his administration as he assures that government funds are "being used properly." 

Duterte says if he wins as vice president, he will be the one to audit all government agencies, including himself. 

"Who audits the Commission on Audit?"

COA 'victim' Duterte says he is up for the task if he becomes vice-president.

"I will do that [audit], ako na lang din mag-audit sa lahat ng gobyerno, pati ‘yung akin. Mag-umpisa ako sa akin," he says. 

Luh, eto na naman yung buang ng kuda ng kuda sa kanto . Talo pa yung taong grasa.  Hindi lang ako naiinis, natatawa pa ako sa kanya pero nakakaawa kasi wala na sa wastong pag-iisip.

The best president talaga in the whole wide multiverse. Biro mo yun, audit daw niya sarili niya.  Ang tanga o bobo ba? Saan ka pa? Paki-check nga kung talagang nakapag-aral at naka-graduate itong pulpol na Ito.

Joke ulit ba yan? Or sasabihing gullible lang mga Pilipino para maniwala sa mga sinasabi niya?

Bakit hihintaying  pa niyang maging vice president siya? bakit hindi niya gawin ngayon?

Why not do it now when he has the authority? He thinks he is accountable only to himself. Walang concept ng public service. He is truly serving only himself.

Basic rule, you can’t audit yourself because there’s a conflict of interest.

Sobrang self-serving naman yata ng plano niya. Check and balance ang auditing. Saan ang balance if siya lang rin ang gagawa? Ngayon pa lang nga hindi na niya magawa na hindi maging bias sa mga appointees niya. So really? Audit daw niya mismo? Sino iaaudit mo pag nanalo ka? Si Laila De Lima at Mar Roxas lang malamang. Si Duque nga ayaw mong makanti eh... Huwag ako! What a clown. 

I o audit ang sarili? So siyempre pasado ang sarili... alangang ibagsak mo sarli mo nga yun di ba? Siyempre lahat din ng alagad pasado sa audit. Bagsak lang yung mga papalag. Ang galing naman ng naisip niya. Bravo... Slow clap...

No one should audit himself. If familiar po kayo sa mga concepts and principles of auditing, this is an absurd and stupid suggestion.

Results will be unreliable because there is great threat to independence and objectivity. At siya mag-o-audit sa iba? He is not competent and trustworthy.

Gusto niya talagang kontrolin ang lahat. May itinatago ito. Audit ang sarili? Saan na ang kahihiyan?

Show us your SALN first and maybe we will believe this line. You cant even sign a bank waiver or reveal it to the public.

For someone who doesn't understand or refuses accountability, his credibility to "audit" others, much more himself, is very questionable.

Doee he really know the constitution? Is he really a lawyer? The presidential tagapagsinungaling at interpreter will again dismiss this statement as a joke.  And we include the media feast on this even if we know that we are just taken for a ride? We deserve the consequences for this then.

Kung anu-ano na lang pumapasok sa kukote ni Duterte, obvious na malapit na sa pagiging ulyanin. O sinadya dahil he intends to give the insanity plea when the time comes?
