One-day Fair Brings the Best Higher Education Institutions from Europe to Manila

Have you always dreamt of pursuing higher education abroad? Now is the time to embark on a journey of a lifetime - travelling around an learning from the best European universities at the European Higher Education Fair (EHEF) 2017.

EHEF will be held on October 18, 2017 at the Grand Atrium of Shangri-La Plaza in Mandaluyong, and will feature more than 20 higher education institutions from Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, Spain, and Sweden and United Kingdom.

The fair is organized by the Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines together with the EU Member States’ Embassies and Cultural Institutions in collaboration with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

“Education has always been and will remain a top priority for Filipinos. Many have found that the higher education institutions in the European Union offer opportunities beyond comparison,” said EU Ambassador Franz Jessen. “With this year’s theme being ‘Sustaining Innovation and Excellence,’ EHEF 2017 aims to showcase both innovation in teaching and learning techniques and curriculum par excellence of participating higher education institutions to a growing number of prospective Filipino students.”

Why Study in EU?
As a center of excellence in education, obtaining an EU post graduate degree opens up various opportunities. It gives one an edge in the corporate world and immediately taps into a network of international professionals.

Pursuing a higher degree in EU is an amazing experience. It allows one to establish intercultural contacts, gain invaluable insights into a new culture, learn a new language, and grow as a person.

“Education should not be restricted within the four walls of the classroom. There is an opportunity for one to learn everyday, why not bring it up a notch up and pursue higher education in EU?” said Ambassador Jessen. “Through EHEF, we want to encourage all Filipino students, teachers, members of the academe to grab this opportunity and experience diversified and excellent post-graduate and doctorate degree programs from top-notch EU universities.”

During the fair, participants and prospective applicants will have the chance to learn more about the EU education system and way of life through a series of lectures and talks, and will also have the opportunity to talk with EU alumni volunteers present during the event.

Erasmus+ Programme at 30
This year also marks the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Erasmus+ Program, an EU-funded program which gives support to education, training, youth, and sports in Europe. Ambassador Jessen shared that this year, 37 Filipinos were granted Erasmus scholarships and are now pursuing their Masters and PHD degrees in Europe.

This year’s EHEF is supported by venue partner, Shangri-La Plaza. Admission to the fair is free, but registration is encouraged. Kid’s First to hold “One Fun Day: A Family Day of Festivities for All Abilities”


​Expect a day of genuine fun and laughter as Alabang-based learning center, Kid’s First Discovery Space is set to hold a day of action-packed, exciting activities to celebrate the tenth year of its program that provides early childhood intervention for children with special needs. Kid’s First advocates for the inclusion of all children in our classrooms and in our community.

Kid’s First’s “One Fun Day: A Family Day of Festivities for All Abilities” will take place at the Cuenca Covered Court in Ayala, Alabang on Oct 21, Saturday from 8am to 12 noon. It will feature special lessons on hip hop dancing, taekwondo, futsal, yoga, and circuit training. An area will also be dedicated for sand play, giant board games, kite flying, and many more!

“It’s going to be a day that’s dedicated for all kids and their families. This non-competitive, fully inclusive event is for everyone - people of all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate. It could be an opportunity for the kids to enjoy activities without fears and worries. No winners and no losers. Just simply a day of fun,“ says Kid’s First educational administrator, Vanessa Morales-Balquiedra.

“And since we’re celebrating ten strong years of the center’s Kid’s First Early Childhood Intervention Foundation, all eyes are on all our students who will show us that differences in abilities are not a hindrance to creating strong bonds of friendship and that everyone can join in the activities. Watch them participate actively in non-competitive games and sports, and you’ll realize how talented, outstanding, and adorable they are. It’s testament to their ability to become fully participating and contributing members of our community,” according to Jennifer Teves-Manalo, Early Childhood Intervention Coordinator of Kid’s First.

Kid’s First hopes to send out a clear message that ALL kids with various talents and capabilities can develop positively and interact harmoniously with one another. Ticket price is at: P500 for a single entry inclusive of entrance fee, snacks, and a loot bag; or avail of a discounted price of P1,000 for a family of three.

One Fun Day is organized to help raise awareness and advocate for inclusion of all children with different abilities in various communities. Proceeds of this event will go to the community-based rehabilitation program of the University of the Philippines-Manila College of Allied Medical Professions (UPM CAMP) and the Tulay ng Kabataan Foundation, Inc (ANAK-TnK). Foster the People Coming to Manila on January 26



Foster The People is coming to Manila for their Sacred Hearts Club Tour on Friday, January 26, 2018 at the KIA Theater.

Founded in in 2009, Foster the People achieved success with the 2011 release of its debut album Torches, which has sold nearly two million albums and over nine million singles worldwide. Torches features the #1 hit single “Pumped Up Kicks,” which was declared “the year’s anthem” by SPIN, and also spawned the chart topping singles “Don’t Stop (Color On The Walls),” “Houdini,” and “Helena Beat.” Foster the People garnered three Grammy nominations for its monumental debut, including Best Alternative Album, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Pumped Up Kicks” and Best Short Form Music Video for “Houdini.” Supermodel was the second full-length record from Foster the People. Influenced by frontman Mark Foster’s world travels and shifting perspective, the album was recorded in studios around the world and features fan favorites including "Coming of Age" and "Best Friend."

Since then, they have been filling dance-floors worldwide with headline tours and performing at some of the biggest international music festivals including Coachella, Glastonbury and Lollapalooza.
