The Passion that Drives Richard Quan

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The dictionary defines passion as an intense desire or enthusiasm for something. This is the force that drives character actor Richard Quan. Since his first appearance as the other man in the Reyna Films’ classic Saan Ka Man Naroon? that starred the phenomenal love team of Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta, Quan, continues his love affair with show business, with this burning passion that fuels him to offer the finest in all the roles he portrays.

Film aficionados were most impressed with his performance as the tahong vendor father of JM de Guzman, in the Cinemalaya 2012 favorite Intoy Siyokoy.

Quan’s remarkable moment – caught his wife playing fire with another, he backed away quietly from the on-going transgression, crushed and disillusioned, this accidental discovery led to his plummet, a most tragic death that left his son Intoy orphaned.

This July, Richard is part of another Cinemalaya entry, “The Liars,” written by Senedy Que with multi-awarded film master Gil Portes as director.

At Home In Another World

I was at home, in the land of Berkel, fighting as an assassin and protecting the child of Light. Sometimes, I would venture out as Regret, the Seed of Chaos; The One of Unknown Origin.

Sometimes, I was Jaden, the middle child who wears a mask to hide his true potential in fear of the past and future of his family.

There came a time when I was Jade, the mischievous extremist who would go through all lengths just to fulfil her promises, even if she had to surpass death.

Virtual Reality, RP Games and my own imagination allowed me to live to these feats, and though I didn’t own the characters created by the game producers (like Regret of ZENONIA), I was able to live out their lives right at home, making the world I am currently in far more interesting to feel the adventure at my fingertips than the dull summer days of anticipating adventure but achieving nothing but a lot of lag time.

Vacation With a Little Staycation

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Summer is the best time and season to relax and enjoy moments with family, friends, and “barkadas”. This season is in time with school vacation. Summer is a very hot season where everyone enjoyed swimming in beaches and resorts. Some people were bored. Students spent almost of their time in front of the computer during summer. Some just waste a day in sleeping, eating, and watching TV. It is different in my case. I can say it was not boring at all.

I’m guilty in my forth mentioned statement. Most of my days are spent in the computer. Eating, sleeping, watching TV, and everything non-productive I should say.

On first part of my vacation, as a church server, or a sacristan, I served at the Masses. It was like everyday I am so busy. I was like going here to there, night and day. I was almost sleepless on those days. First day was good. It was the Maundy Thursday. My colleagues and I practiced then served at the mass. I got enough rests and sleeps. Then, those days are gone.
