From Broadway in 2020 to National Tour in 2021 “THE WHOLE WORLD LOVES BEETLEJUICE”

Taking the material and messing it around from Tim burton’s beloved film of the same name was a big risk. But as New York Post suggests “the whole world loves Beetlejuice,” Alex Timbers (Direction), and Scott Brown & Anthony King (Book) thought why not. With the help of Eddie Perfect (Lyrics & Music), they created “Beetlejuice” a musical that supports the idea of ghosts and demons.

It seems to recreate the fanatic (focusing more on Beetlejuice himself) they all are going so crazy about. This 2 hours and 30 minutes' musical is playing in Winter Garden Theater, 1634 Broadway, NYC. Beetlejuice musical tickets are on sale, interested people can get it now to enjoy the benefits.

Beetlejuice: How it goes?

The plot stays true to Burton’s version of the film. Starting with Lydia Deetz (Sophia Anne Caruso) mourning her recently dead mother. Her life changes completely when she cut paths with a recently deceased couple Adam (Rob McClure) and Barbara (Kerry Butler) and a demon Beetlejuice (Alex Brightman). They all join forces to make Lydia’s father Charles (Adam Dannheisser) and the lifecoach Delia (Leslie Kritzer) run wild in fear.

Beetlejuice Breaking the Fourth Wall – Intimacy Level with Audience

The musical seems to break the fourth wall quite often in the performances specifically when Beetlejuice is around. In fact, at the start of ACT I when a mourning Lydia ends “Invisible" Beetlejuice breaks the ice with comments, “Holy crap! A ballad already?” then he moves on to add, “Such a bold departure from the original source material!” pointing to the changes Brown & King made to the original story.

In the film version, the main character is not introduced far until some plot has been set. However, in the musical, they have put more focus on the main character putting his intro right in the beginning. The change seems only natural than offensive. After all whats a Beetlejuice musical without the titled demon himself. This musical based on the Geffen Company Picture follows suit only until it is convenient. Regardless it’s a fantastic show if you are in for a night of Dark Humor!

Alex Brightman – Star of the show!

Unlike the film where the main character comes in the way after the pot sets in, the musical put Beetlejuice right in the front and center. Brightman is mostly known for his recent role in “School of Rock” practically holds the audience in his hand with his raspy voice and brilliant performances.

For a demon with a thing for stripes, Brightman is equally funny and malicious. He brings in a certain charm to the characters that were not so visible before. In all of his appearances, he remains very hysteric, lively and audience-aware.

Conclusion:

If you ever watched the show you will understand why Variety called it a “Screamingly Good Fun!” Sophia Anne Carusos’ young singing voice is deliciously striking. Leslie Kritzer is hysteric as two-faced Delia but above all, it’s fantastic in its portrayal thanks to David Korins’ killer haunted House. Based on The New York Times comment “Jaw-Dropping Funhouse!” it would justify saying everybody does love Beetlejuice!
