E-Commerce Entrepreneurs Summit at Best Western Plus Antel Hotel

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The 7th DigitalFilipino E-Commerce Entrepreneurs Summit Manila 2015, also referred to as E-Commerce Entrepreneurs Summit, was an intensive 1-day educational event on e-commerce strategies that was held on August 29, 2015 at the Best Western Plus Antel Hotel, Makati Avenue, Makati City. The theme for this 7th edition was “E-Commerce for Economic Growth.”

It is also meant to celebrate the 16th year of DigitalFilipino.com blog. This 1-day event had e-commerce practitioners sharing insights and strategies on making e-commerce work and help grow your business.

I've seen a lot of familiar faces from which I've known them before from other companies. Now they've leveled up into someone more successful and eager to share their expertise for the greater good of the audience.

This is highly admirable and I do believe that when you share your blessings through any form you will be rewarded with greater success. We all know karma works both ways. If you do good (or bad), you'll also receive your just deserves.

The E-Commerce Entrepreneurs Summit had Miss Janette Toral and Genesis Reonico as moderators. It was the first time Genesis was moderating for the mother of E-Commerce. I must say he did a great job but he really needs to be more persistent with the audience to motivate them to participate in the discussion, or question and answer portion. Non-participation could mean several things: 1. They understood clearly 2, They were too shy to ask questions 3. They want the event to be over asap. Lol!

Poster above shows the many speakers at the E-Commerce Entrepreneurs Summit. It was really an intensive information overload event that I am really disappointed I was not able to attend only in the afternoon due to my radio show at Vigattin Radio show at Radyo Inquirer DZIQ 990 AM every Saturday from 10 to 11 am.  My friend Elison Barcelo and I immediately went to the event after the radio show but we had to take the back seats since there were no more seats in front.

For me there is a fourth one. I usually don't ask questions if I did not understand the talks mainly because I was not comfortable at the event. True enough, I had a huge problem seeing the presentation because it was too dark at the venue. I have some problems with my eyesight thus dark places tends to bother me, and it makes me lose focus on what I am listening or watching.

I was also seated at the back end where some people were all chatting so loudly I couldn't comprehend what was being said up front. I couldn't blame them since I believe it was really too difficult to concentrate when you are already at the back. The stage was too dark to keep your eyes glued to the speakers, and there was a low ceiling blocking our view.

I also couldn't get good photos because of the darkness. What I've posted here are already the best shots with some tweaking on the brightness.

So the problem was not really the event but my poor vision. I guess I need to wear again my glasses especially at dark venues.

However, I did enjoy the pitching session. The few minutes of pitches were more exciting since they were presenting as brief but concise as they can. It takes a lot of creativity and persuasion power to be able to get the interest of the audience on your "bright idea."

Sometimes, even the best ideas gets downgraded if the presenter is not that confident, or good in his content, or manner of speaking. Even the choice of words add value to the presentation. Sometimes even the outfit closes the deal. I'm talking about formal and casual, or even ruggedly hip, cool and sexy, look might be able to impress or get the attention of potential investors.

So I've listened to some interesting and wacky ideas which actually addresses the practical and leisure needs. It seems almost everything can now be automated using a mobile app so our work would be made easier and more convenient. I have so many bright ideas of my own for WazzupPilipinas.com but what I need is a developer to create that app I've been wanting to make.

Why is it that every developer I asked does not want to work for free or exchange deals? Hehehe!

The event aimed to empower and convert us from change thinkers to change makers. They also used this event as a fundraiser for their Certified E-Commerce Specialist, Entrepreneur, and Professional Program students as part of their “e-commerce industry exposure” learning module where they are scheduled to visit Singapore this September 9 to 13, 2015.

Congratulations are in order because I've seen news feeds on my Facebook timeline that the students were able to visit Singapore as planned. I hope they learned a lot from that trip among which was the Paypal headquarters.

Thank you to 2Go Express, Citi, Alfox Printing Services, Qeryz, and of course a shout out to Miss Janette Toral of DigitalFilipino.com and her loyal assistant Sherlane Fortunado for another successful event, plus the cool E-Commerce Entrepreneurs Summit shirt!
