ArtWearAble 2: EliSon - Ann Pamintuan Mounts Preview Collection at Yuchengco Museum

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Ann Pamintuan will give audiences a special preview of her new line of bags and fashion accessories under the label EliSon.

To be exhibited at Yuchengco Museum from November 14, 2013 to February 1, 2014, ArtWearAble 2: EliSon by Ann Pamintuan pays tribute to her mentors, sisters Eli Pinto Mansor and Sonia Pinto Ner, renowned trailblazers in Philippine design.

Pamintuan’s EliSon brand of design creations is named in remembrance of the late Pinto sisters—Pratt Institute graduate and former Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) director and Movement 8 design alliance founder Eli Pinto Mansor and history professor, museum director, arts manager, and Filipiniana book publisher Sonia Pinto Ner—who both encouraged the Davao-based, self-taught designer to pursue a career in design.

The fashion line is comprised of bags and accessories that use especially made natural materials and fabrics interwoven or embellished with copper thread.

Ann Pamintuan is an internationally acclaimed designer who ventures into jewelry, furniture, and home décor. Her line of sophisticated and thoughtful designs and excellent craftsmanship has helped propel Philippine design into the international limelight.

With a design sensibility deeply rooted in respect for materials, confident shapes, and clean lines, Pamintuan is considered one of the pillars of the country’s design industry. She is the first Asian woman to be included in the International Designer Yearbook (in 2002 and 2004). In 2008, the Yuchengco Museum exhibited Pamintuan’s collection of jewelry, furniture, and home décor for the first time in Manila with a show entitled AnnTiu.Alchemy.

As the first designer to have a solo exhibit under the Yuchengco Museum’s ArtWearAble series, Movement 8 designer Ann Pamintuan’s exhibit will be on view at Yuchengco Museum from November 14, 2013 to February 1, 2014. The museum is located at RCBC Plaza, corner Ayala and Sen. Gil J. Puyat Avenues, Makati. Museum hours are Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, call (632) 889-1234 or visit www.yuchengcomuseum.org.
