Trend Micro Asks "What's Your Story?" For the Safety of Our Children

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Who is not worried about their kids when they access the Internet? If you're not concerned, then you should be before it's too late!

Sadly, the online world can corrupt our kids to think differently and negatively. They are not safe, no matter how much you think that the net is harmless. It may really be educational, but our kids may be learning more than what they should know.

Trend Micro Incorporated, in line with its advocacy to keep our children safe online, put out a call for young Filipinos to submit video entries designed to inspire others of the same age to ensure safety on the Internet.

They dubbed it as "What's Your Story?", a global online competition that is aimed to encourage the sharing of online usage experiences among teens and young adults to spread awareness about the dangers that lurk online and how to safeguard oneself through online safety practices.

Danielle Veluz talks about the mechanics of the What's Your Story online video competition

It's dangerous out there where all kinds of information and realities, or fictional absurdities, can be found. You'll see all kinds of weird stuff, some are gross, some are cutesy but many are darn too crazy for normal sensibilities.

Trend Micro technologies will allow us to build a safer online environment for Internet users. They have taken the responsibility of delivering ideas of online security and online reputation to all families and their children, and now they are trying to promote these ideas via multi-media content. The originally created videos that will be created and produced by these youth will encourage the youth to voice out their sentiments and influence others to follow and take advantage of the power of online multi-media.

Submission of  video entries between 30 seconds to 2 minutes long is between November 1 to December 13, 2013. Participants must me from 13 years old and above in two categories (individual and school). You can upload entries at the following link : http://whatsyourstory.trendmicro.ph

Two winners from each category will be selected from among all the entries in the Philippines.
