The world is still on track for 2.8°C of warming under current policies, a level that would unleash catastrophic environmental and humanitarian consequences.

The UNEP report makes clear that even with full implementation of current pledges, humanity is on the brink of overshooting the 1.5°C threshold — the critical limit scientists say could prevent the worst climate impacts.
