Philippine Post Office, AAP launch 2021 National Art Competition

The Philippine Postal Corporation (Post Office) in cooperation with the Art Association of the Philippines (AAP), the oldest artist organization in the country is inviting entries to the “First Philippine Postal Corporation Art Competition 2021” to be held at the iconic Manila Central Post Office Building in Liwasang Bonifacio.

 

Founded in 1948, the Art Association of the Philippines aims to advance, foster and promote the interests of those who work in the visual arts.

 

“We wanted to promote the creative expression of the Filipinos and develop their artistic accomplishments at its highest level”, Postmaster General Norman Fulgencio said.

 

AAP President Fidel Sarmiento believes that the said Art Competition will generate interest among Filipino Artist especially during the pandemic.  The event organizers pledge to donate 10% of the event’s proceeds to Malabon Zoo to help bring some relief to the animals.                                                   

 

The Art competition is open to all Filipino citizens who are 18 years old as of September 2021. Participants may submit one entry only. Artists should submit their best representational art which is an Open theme competition. Any subject or artistic expression is welcome.  Artists may find the information link on the AAP Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/200996850006586. Entry forms are also available online via its social media page. All interested applicants must be mindful of the mechanics, rules and regulations governing the competition.

 

The medium to be used should be the following: oil and/or acrylic on canvass only. No mixed media. The size should be 30x40 horizontal, 40x30 vertical. Entries must be original, not yet exhibited, printed or posted on any social media. It should be signed by the artist, but must be covered with masking tape prior to submission to conceal artist identity. Entries must be properly labeled using a card caption imprinted with the name of the artist, title, medium, size and date finished. It should be placed at the back of the painting.

 

Participants must submit 3x5 or 5x7 colored photos of their entry. Entry forms must be notarized.  The First Prize will get P100,00; Second Prize- 70,000 and Third Prize- P50,000. Ten (10) honorable mentions will be given P30,000 each. Entries should be submitted on November 19, 2021, Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM at the Manila Central Post Office in Liwasang Bonifacio. Awarding of winners shall be announced on the day of submission.

SSS mobile application transactions reach 35.27 M

The Social Security System (SSS) recorded 35.27 million transactions and queries in SSS Mobile App from January to August 2021.
SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Aurora Ignacio said the volume of transactions and queries is a clear indicator that more members and employers use the SSS Mobile App for their SSS transactions, especially during this pandemic.

“We recognize that mobile technology is one of the new norms to provide easier and safer access to services and transactions. We are continuously upgrading the SSS Mobile App to include additional services and to make sure that its functionalities are user-friendly to better serve our members and employers, anytime and anywhere,” Ignacio said.

As of August 2021, SSS recorded 9.37 million downloads of SSS Mobile App on Google Play Store, 8.85 million downloads on Huawei AppGallery, and 1.25 million downloads on the Apple App Store. It is the third most downloaded free mobile application in the productivity category on Google Play Store, ranks second in the finance category on the Huawei AppGallery, and ranks fifth in the utilities category on Apple App Store.

Moreover, since its launch in 2018, the SSS Mobile App has facilitated a total of 109.73 million transactions and queries. Among the top three recorded member queries in the SSS Mobile App were salary loan balance, salary loan status, and maternity claim info. Moreover, the top transaction recorded under the member portal was PRN generation.

Member services available in the SSS Mobile App include:
Access to membership information, that includes basic personal information, updating of contact information (Landline Number, Mobile Number, Email Address, Local/Foreign Mailing Address), and view of enrolled bank information;
Inquiry on contributions, including total number of contributions posted, and total amount of contributions;
Inquiry on loans, salary loan status and balance, and application for salary loan;
Inquiry on status of benefit claims (sickness, maternity, retirement, disability claim info and EC medical status);
Submission of Maternity Notification for self-employed, voluntary, non-working spouse, and Overseas Filipino Worker members;
Generation of Payment Reference Numbers (PRNs) for contributions and payment for online payment channels (PayMaya, BPI,and G-Cash); and
SSS Branch Locator. Meanwhile, employers may also avail of the following services using the SSS Mobile App:
Access employer information, including updating of contact information (e-mail address, telephone and mobile number) and view of enrolled bank information;
Inquiry on contribution status, generation of PRN for contributions;
Check the SSS and Employees’ Compensation (EC) contributions program of his/her employees;
Inquiry on status of loans and loan payments; and

Actor and singer-songwriter Neo Rivera and social media influencer Jericho Arceo have teamed up for Neo’s uplifting new song, 2AM Wide Awake. You can stream it on October 29 on all digital streaming platforms worldwide! 

 

Inspired by the story of The Prodigal Son in the Bible, Neo penned his first single for 2021 as a message of God’s love, grace, and forgiveness. The lyrics tell the story of a person who's wide awake at 2 AM, wondering how God can still love someone like him who has failed countless times. 

 

“We’ve been a Prodigal Son or Daughter at some point. My journey with Christ isn’t perfect. Many times, I’d question my worth, I couldn’t sleep because of fears. I’d ask, ‘Lord, will Your promises come true? Am I late? If I didn’t rebel, would I be in a different place? Would I meet You?’” Neo said. 

 

The singer-songwriter continued, “That’s when I remind myself of God’s grace, and His plans and timing always prevail. It’s a collection of those moments that made up the song.” 

Neo’s personal story and musings from the timeless parable, together with Jericho’s intricately crafted Tagalog rap verse and some smooth, laid back beats, gave birth to the masterpiece that is 2AM Wide Awake. 

 

This relatable song is a perfect anthem for anyone seeking God’s grace and comfort during these trying times. 

 

“You are not alone. I get you. I understand your struggle of having so many questions for God. Sometimes, we ask for answers but what He shows us is His love for us. Even though we have many mishaps in life, He’s ready to bring us back in His arms. He alone is enough,” Neo shared.
