Demi Lovato versus The Big Chill

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

What’s your favorite internet beef? Mine is Demi lovato forgetting diabetics exist and fighting a frozen yogurt business in public.

Tbh I was wasn’t on her side at first, but then I saw they’re not marketing them to diabetics,  they’re marketing them as “guilt free”....but then I read further, and it opened my eyes to more revelations.

Demi Lovato was stuck for several years living a miserable life having to have watermelon cake with light cream on her fucking birthday, now she must be smiling while feeling the freedom to eat a real cake without guilt.

Some would say sugar free foods are often more harmful for diabetics because they contain substitutes worse than sugar. Dieting products are even worse, and both are often marketed together so Demi could be correct to call out that marketing and it's a valid eating disorder trigger too.

If you resource to sugar free food outside dieting that's valid. She's not invalidating that nor saying sugar free food should be banned, she's solely targeting the harmful diet culture marketing upon these products which is harmful not only for EDs but other health issues too.

This is coming from someone who has lived with diabetics her whole life. She has seen  relatives losing vision because of it, etc. She goes on saying it doesn't work for every diabetic at all.

Demi Lovato is necessary in the industry, but y’all definitely is not ready for that conversation.

However, she is a rich woman damaging the reputation of a small business during a pandemic where businesses are ALREADY struggling.

She intended on calling them out and it backfired. I feel like more people will support the restaurant now.

The restaurant is not the real cause for her triggers. Sugar free cookies do not classify as “disordered eating” if you're in the right mindset. If you're not, then it’s not the restaurant’s fault. The way she PUBLICLY called them out was so immature.

How is she gonna basically say “oh yeah well I also just didn’t like the service, y’all rude!” and then not go into detail about it and instead attack the restaurant “encouraging” the so called disordered eating.

Some people diet in a healthy way & the restaurant is trying to cater to their needs. If someone chooses to diet in an unhealthy way (coming from personal experience), it’s not the restaurants fault.

Then she doubles down and attacks the business AGAIN because they don’t label their goods specifically indicating “FOR DIABETICS” and how the “messaging isn’t super clear.” IDK, if I’m diabetic I think reading “sugar free” would be pretty self explanatory.

Y’all have rose colored glasses on for Demi. Every celebrity gets checked if they wrongfully call out something like she did. Y’all are just mad because she can do no wrong in your eyes.

She’s literally just trying to start shit for getting triggered ON HER OWN.

It’s not even just that, Demi is so involved with herself she doesn’t even acknowledge that dietary restrictions could actually exist because of disease.

She needs to think about why there would be a need for such things. I realize that she has a disorder, but there are lots of folks who suffer from other illnesses. She needs to think before she speaks. It's extremely important for her to do this with such a large base.

A Filipino Karen tries to stop the community pantry operation

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

This should be tagged as "A Filipino Karen tries to stop the pantry operation"

Marites is our Filipina ‘Karen’ who went out of her month-long quarantine just to report a long line of people who went out to get ayuda from a community pantry.

People are hungry, Marites. A lenghty queue was inevitable. Social distancing would be missed. Though her concern is valid, people will risk getting infected than die of hunger staying at home.

May point naman si ate. Di naman sya kailangan ibash or pagbintangan na DDS agad. Point your blame sa government na hindi sinuportahan yung ganito kagandang cause by dispatching officers earlier to help with the surge of people. FREE FOOD yan so malamang dadagsain yan.

If there are people flocking in front of my house, I would be alarmed as well. Let us remember that Covid-19 is now known to be airborne and mass gatherings like this should be avoided at all cost. There should be a better way to subscribe to this project.

Kahit may face shield and masks and open area pa, let us not underestimate Covid because scary talaga. I don't understand why people are being vindictive towards the lady, She wasn't screaming or anything (at least based on the video). she was raising a valid point.

Kaso some said wala siya sa lugar.

There's nothing wrong with her suggestion. What's wrong is defending this woman's arrogance. If you even paid close attention, she was asking the staff for a permit. Like?

Obviously, she didn't check out other times where the PNP were assisting in implementing social distancing.

She's raising a valid point while breaking protocols herself?. Where's her face shield?

A valid point doesn't outweigh the needs of people who have no choice but to lineup for handouts. If you're saying minimum health standards is insufficient, should we then put all our lives on hold?

The only way to reduce the people in the area is for the government to provide genuine and effective distribution of the social amelioration.

These pantries exist because we are on autopilot mode na. The national government is incompetent since day 1 of this pandemic.

These pantries are doing a good job to help people, but there must be a better way to do it. The organizers need to find a way to create a better system to reduce the number of people in the area.

But whatever. Let's give Marites the "benefit of the doubt." LOL.

Is Vice Ganda an effective representation of the queer community

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

Some would say Vice Ganda has been an effective representation of the queer community to mainstream media. She's been poor, she's effeminate, she's learning, and she's not perfect. Y'all can say anything about her movies but you can't deny the impact she made to the young queers.

Though Vice Ganda movies never properly represented the LGBTQ community in the Philippines. His films are over hyped just because it is "Vice Ganda" film and the plots aren't even that good. He also doesn't deserve to be in the MMFF every fucking year.

The notion of selling "kwela" to the masses should not equate to poor storytelling.

I can't relate to his movies but I am sure he has inspired a lot of LGBTQ kids in the closet to come out.

I can still remember that moment when they called out Tado on Showtime when he made fun of gay people paying for men. And when they reprised "multong bakla" into "diyosang bakla". They're an icon. Yes, Vice can be problematic and this is not to excuse them but what they did to queer kids to reclaim what has been an insult and transform it to something that is powerful that no one can never use that against gays is very special.

Though any hardworking femme-androgynous gays are just as valid. Vice Ganda alone can’t represent the entire queer spectrum!

Kasi di ba, for a pa-girl to represent the community, kailangan BEST. Kailangan perfect, kailangan yung walang malalait.

For a time, maiinis ka na tinatawag kang Vice Ganda kasi ginagamit itong panukso.

Wala kayong kailangan gawin para i-earn na deserving to represent the community. After all, sino ba ang mga unang baklang matatapang na naging visible para gayahin ng midya at gawing karakter sa pelikula?

Oh, the first ever bakla character in PH cinema ay walang iba kung hindi isang flamboyant crossdressing fag.

1954. Imahinasyon ng writer, o may pinag-gayahan?" - Rod Singh

"masyado s'yang baklang kanal"

"masyado syang bakla"

"nagbabayad sya ng lalaki"

these comments why femmephobia and homophobia per se exists in the society especially in the LGBTQ+ community. na naging masama ang pagbabayad sa lalaki. na sobrang mali na maging malambot.

Of all the "types" of gays, trans and femme people had the most struggles because of one thing: heteronormativity. and they broke the norms that the society has been implementing for what? gender roles? stereotypes?

As a masculine gay, you'd rather be represented by a femme gay who most likely experienced the gravity of struggle as you did than a masculine gay whose struggles cannot sum up the level of prosecutions received by the femmes.

I thought the whole point of the rainbow was that there's more than one way to be gay? Why demand homogenous representation of an inherently diverse community? and more importantly, why are you putting that responsibility on Vice Ganda?

It was never her responsibility. The fact that she stood up for herself when she was a nobody, to now that she's The Unkabogable, the story itself is already THE representation for everyone in the community to grow and mature.
