The Museum Comes to Life on November 22 with TAO RIN PALA 46: MUSEO!

Wazzup Pilipinas!

As the doors close and the last footsteps fade, a new sound resonates. Behind the velvet ropes, beyond the stolid facade, underneath is a human after all ― TAO RIN PALA.

The 46th installation of Tao Rin Pala will once again be hosted by the UP Medical Students' Society (UP MSS) on November 22, 2019 at the Fleur-de-lis Auditorium, St. Paul University–Manila. TRP started out in the year 1973 as an avenue for medical students and medical professionals to come together and express their stands on existing political and social issues during Martial Law, when censorship was prevalent.

With a combined variety show and chorale competition among the UP-PGH community As it continues to be the biggest and most anticipated event in the UP College of Medicine and Philippine General Hospital Community. This special avenue for doctors and students to show that their talents extend far beyond the hospital walls, whether these be in singing, dancing, acting, or other performing arts, is a long-standing tradition by the college. It’s also an opportunity to be of service to the community, as part of the proceeds of TRP 46 will go to the MSS Scholarship Fund, and its partner organization, Kulay Group of Artists. Paintings by the inmates of New Bilibid Prison belonging to Kulay will also be exhibited at the Philippine General Hospital for the public to enjoy and support.

This year's theme, Museo, seeks to explore the facets of the vibrant Filipino culture and celebrate the Philippine arts through the explorative experience of wandering a museum. The most awaited performances are divided into five subthemes – each inspired by the different national museums we have in the metro. The first subtheme is Sining (Art). Inspired by the unbridled passion of our local artists, this first section of the museum explores the finest of Filipino art.

The second of five subthemes: Kalikasan (Nature & Life).Drawing inspiration from the vibrance and vitality of nature, the next section of the museum invites patrons to explore the wonders of the extraneous world. The next section of the museum, Agham (Science), pays homage to brilliant Filipino minds, whose ideas and discoveries revolutionized and continue to shape society. The fourth of five subthemes: Kasaysayan (History) aims to turn back time so that we may never forget our forebearers, and learn from their successes, their mistakes. Last but not the least, the final subtheme, Bayan (Country), makes known the soil that has nursed and nurtured the soul of the Filipino - for her we sing, she we serve.

For one blissful night, we celebrate the Filipino. TAO RIN PALA 46: MUSEO draws ever near; It will be held this coming November 22, 2019 at the Fleur de Lis Auditorium, St. Paul University Manila. PHLPost Celebrates 252nd Postal Service Anniversary

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Former Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin ultimately found his memories of being an avid stamps collector and a hobbyist when he entered the iconic building of the Manila Central Post Office as guest of honor and speaker during the celebration of the 252nd Anniversary of the Philippine Postal Service and the kick-off ceremony of the National Stamp Collecting Month (NSCM) last November 08.

CJ Bersamin’s fascination with stamps dates back to his childhood when he cut out and soke letter corners to get the stamps and drying them between pages of old newspapers.

His interest in history pushes him to love collecting stamps. He said stamps are undeniably artifacts or records that also marked and relate history for they depicts with vividness epochs or eras of the nation’s life and times.

He could only wish that more of the younger generation would rediscover and reacquaint themselves with stamps because stamps are miniature artworks they really are. Stamps are still worthy treasures and he hope that a revival or renaissance that the postal service created will still happen even in the age of technology.

He congratulated PHLPost during the month of Philately by gathering together loyal philatelists and young artists responsible for creating the artwork that found its way in stamps.

A ribbon cutting ceremony led by former Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin, PHLPost Chairman Norman Fulgencio, OIC-APMG for Marketing and Management Support Services Maxie Sta. Maria III and Paranaque City Vice Mayor Rico Golez, son of former Postmaster General Roilo Golez formally opened the "Art of History" Exhibit featuring Artworks of Philatelic Artists in celebration of the 252nd Postal Service Anniversary and Kick-off Ceremony of National Stamp Collecting Month.

The National Stamp Collecting Month is an annual event observed every month of November under the Presidential Proclamation Number 494 signed by former President Fidel V. Ramos, to celebrate Philately in the country. It aims to create, maintain, and increase postal awareness and interest through various activities that would inspire and encourage Filipinos across all ages to venture into the hobby of stamp collecting. A postage stamp has helped preserved histories and culture of the country.

Highlighting the month-long celebration of 2019 NSCM, will be the launching of Pinoy Music Icon commemorative stamps to proudly honor three (3) Filipino legendary singers and pioneers in promoting Original Pilipino Music (OPM) in the country. The special

Commemorative stamp featuring the iconic OPM Artists, Rene Garcia, Rico J. Puno aka “The Total Entertainer” and Pepe Smith (Mick Jagger of the Philippines and The Father of Philippine Rock).

A special exhibition of the Icons’ memorabilia will be opened at the lobby of the historic Manila Central Post Office building in a night full of music and fun activities on November 15, 2019.

Other activities includes Green and Wild Expo stamp exhibit featuring the beautiful flora and fauna of the Philippines at the SMX Convention Center Aura on November 20-21, LIHAM Fashion Show featuring Filipino traditional courting and national costumes on November 23, Bridging Generations: Philatelic Forum which aims to raise awareness about Philately to young students in partnership with the Royal Thai Embassy on November 27.

The Pinoy Music Icon will be available starting November 11 to be sold at 45 pesos each in a strip of three (3) souvenir sheets at P135. Copies of the stamps were distributed in limited quantities. For inquiries, please call 527-01-08 or 527-01-32.
