The Great Buddha of Kamakura : A Must Visit Place!

Whatever your religion may be, one must learn how to respect each. Be it Christianity, Islam or Buddhism, one must practice courtesy of shrines and temples, churches and mosques. Buddhism being one of Japan’s main religions, it is no wonder that the Great Buddha of Kamakura is considered as a sacred destination by all tourists alike, local and foreign, Buddhist or not.

The Great Buddha of Kamakura is a giant cast-in-bronze statue, known by most with its popular name Daibutsu. It is considered a National Treasure and is founded circa 1243. Its official name is Taiisan Kotokuin Shojo Senji and is seated on the holy grounds of Kotukuin. The statue centuries old, it was historical figure Yoritomo Minamoto who dreamt of building it after seeing the Great Buddha Statue of Todaiji in Nara. Unfortunately, he died without seeing his wish materialize.

It's Japanese vs Filipino Culture. I know that most are already familiar with the differences about Japan's and Philippine's culture when it comes to foods, ways of greeting, and education. Well for me, I can somehow say that I am interested in fashions from different countries. Obviously, I chose Japanese clothing vs Filipino clothing.

The traditional wear for women of Japan is kimono. Kimono is generally made of silk, have large sleeves and reach from the shoulders all the way down to the heels. It is tied with a wide belt called an obi. Nowadays, kimonos are used for special occasions such as weddings, festivals, graduations, and other rare gatherings. The kimono tends to limit one's movement, and it takes more time to put on properly.

Globe Football Para sa Bayan Slated Last July 6-7

Globe Football Para sa Bayan kicked off last July 6-7 at the ASCOM football field, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City with football hero Chieffy Caligdong at the helm.

Globe Football Para sa Bayan served as a meeting place for all passionate football players coming from different club teams in Metro Manila. “We expect every participant to play the game with spirit, joy, and skills that make football beautiful,” said Caligdong who is also the sports ambassador for the telecommunications company.

Students ages 9-18 from 75 football clubs in Manila participated in the 7 a-side football festival which involves smaller pitch and goal posts. Professional units also joined the activity including the Green Archers United Globe where Caligdong plays as left winger.
