Miss Puerto Rico, Stephanie Del Valle, is Crowned Miss World 2016

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The Philippines is home to the most beautiful women in the world, not only in looks, but also charisma, caring nature and positive attitude! It is not surprising that many of our beauty pageant candidates are always getting either a finalist or the top position.

Among the many top beauty pageants is the Miss World which is also a highly anticipated event worldwide. We have regular candidates participating at this pageant yearly, and for this year we have Catriona Elisa Gray who finished in the Top 5, while Miss Puerto Rico, Stephanie Del Valle, is crowned Miss World 2016.

I was already happy with the Philippines reaching up to the top 5 finalists, but was surely hoping to have her getting the Miss World 2016 crown, especially with that fabulous answer to the question given to her by Miss World 2015, Miss Spain Mireia Lalaguna.

Miss World 2013 Megan Young hosts the pageant night with Jason Cook. Megan's contract with the Miss World organization apparently expired but they still get Megan Young's services for pageant activities.

Filipinos all over the world are still jubilating! Miss Philippines Catriona Elisa Gray was assured a top spot at the Miss World 2016 quarterfinals for her Multimedia challenge win. Mongolia bagged the Talent award while Philippines is the Multimedia winner! The Beauty with a Purpose Top 5 finalists are India, Philippines, Indonesia, Nepal, and Kenya!

Miss Philippines is really a talented woman. Did you know that she wrote the script for her own contestant introduction video to Miss World 2016?

What people say about the Miss World 2016 results:

"The result is very disappointing, we all know that the Catriona (Miss Philippines) gave one of the best answers and without a doubt performed really well in the preliminary competition of the pageant. She could have placed as one of the runner up if not the Miss World title. With these reasons that is why I am disappointed, what is the basis of choosing the winner??? What is the point of having these preliminary competition if in the end your hard work to place on the top position has no bearing in the end?"

"If its based on performance then why Philippines did not get a placement?
She won multimedia.
She almost won talent.
She place on Beauty With A Purpose (BWAP) and
She gave the best answer.

So tell us why she didn't have a place?"

"I always thought sincerity will get you the blue crown for Miss World. Sincerity to help and inspire others. Sincerity that translate into words. It was only Cat who was able to do it, next is Miss Kenya. They both had sincere and memorable answers. Not to mention, well verse and organized, direct to the point answers. So why is Puerto Rico's Miss World? Why is Indonesia part of the Top 3? I personally did not understand what Indonesia answered during the Q&A. It was ummm "all over the place."

Miss World is hands down Miss Philippines Catriona Gray.
1st Princess is Miss Kenya
2nd Princess is Miss Dominican Republic.

Face it, Miss World got it all wrong this year. Beauty with no purpose this time."

Reposting this as it contains interesting facts and controversies in Miss World 2016:

"I have nothing against the winner. In fact, she is lovely. However, there are things which I believe, the Miss World Organization should avoid to be considered 'Credible', Fair and Just inchoosing their winners. After all, MW is dubbed as an Alpha pageant so credibility and quality should always be the goal to maintain its prestige and honor.

And All the girls and the people involved have really worked hard with their sweat and blood dripping, thinking that the judgment process will be fair.

*The Puerto Rican National Director who is also a former Miss World sat as a judge during the Finals and Puerto Rico sponsored the Miss World 2016 Fashion Show together with Indonesia. (In any pageant, it is considered unethical if a National Director sits as a judge. It is very distasteful). What would the other National Directors feel when they learnt that their fellow 'competitors' are included in judging process?

*Indonesia had hosted the Miss World pageant in 2013 and will be hosting again next year. China won the crown two times in their home country (2007 and 2012) and had hosted the pageant six times. Expect, that Indonesia will get the crown soon. But if she is DESERVING and worthy of the crown, we will be the first to REJOICE!

*The Indonesian National Director sat as a judge during the Miss World 2016 Top Model competition. Indonesia got second place and 1st place in Beauty with a Purpose Project.

*Last year, the same Indonesian National Director was included in the panel of judges. Indonesia won Third Place.

*The Philippines had been poised to host the pageant but due to some factors it did not materialize. Julia Morley must have been very disheartened upon learning that the country chose to host Miss Universe instead. So axing a very deserving winner is the sweetest revenge. Sorry Catriona, you have become the sacrificial lamb!

Lessons for the National Directors who aspire to win:

*Be a major sponsor or host the pageant so Julia Morley will give you the crown. Call me bittermelon, but I need to divulge these facts to spread awareness of the shameless politics in Miss World. These need to stop! Seriously."

However, we are sending our congratulations to both Miss Puerto Rico Stephanie Del Valle - for wining the Miss World 2016 crown, and Miss Philippines Catriona Gray for another glamorous spot in the Miss World. Top 5 is a phenomenal achievement already!

Catriona may not have won as Miss World 2016, but she would remain the real winner for us Filipinos.

Bonus:

Question to Miss Philippines by Miss World 2015 Miss Spain Mireia Lalaguna: "Which qualities do you think would it take to wear my crown?"

Answer of Catriona Gray: "I think, first of all, it takes bravery. To be a Miss World is to carry a burning torch. It is like action carried out by one to illuminate the lights of many. And I would dedicate my all self, my love for the arts, and my voice to try to uplift, empower, and educate people. And it would be my greatest honor and duty to hold this torch high enough so all the world could feel and see its light. Thank you!"

"Wait... there's... I have to apologize." Where's Steve Harvey when we need him the most.

I was waiting that Julia Morley will go back on stage and say "Sorry, It's my mistake..... Miss World 2016 is Miss Philippines!
