It’s been weeks since we had our vacation to Bangkok, Thailand. I’m seriously so sad that our trip is over, and how everything just felt too fast-paced and short during our three-day escapade. I wish we could have stayed longer, but it’s alright. Going to Bangkok, I had the chance to admire their picturesque country which made it the highlight of my summer vacation.
We totally lived our life to the fullest even though we did have a hard time trying to understand the Thai language, and I don’t even know how I managed to survive their food- everything was so spicy! I adored everything (literally), so sleeping for only about two to three hours was really worth it especially when you know that tomorrow is another day to explore and have fun.
As soon as our plane landed in Bangkok, I can’t stop myself from smiling. My seatmate kept on glancing at me because I really can’t stop moving and I kept on poking my sister. I was really feeling giddy that day. I mean, who wouldn’t? We’re in Thailand! That's why we all went crazy taking pictures at the airport that we kept on posing as if we were models.
The trip to our hotel was amazingly fast because there was no traffic! We stayed at Baiyoke Sky Hotel which is said to be the tallest hotel in Southeast Asia and the seventh-tallest all-hotel structure in the world.
The Baiyoke Sky Hotel, rising 88-storeys above Bangkok’s skyline, is Thailand’s tallest hotel that is strategically located in Pratunam's fashion district right in the central downtown area. The hotel is an ideal base for enthusiastic shoppers. Just a block from the hotel is a handful of mega malls along Siam and Petchaburi Roads, such as CentralWorld, Platinum Fashion Mall, Pantip, Gaysorn Plaza, Amarin, Siam Center, Siam Discovery, Siam Paragon and Siam Square.
Occupying the three hotel zones, guestrooms come in a wide range of categories. Hotel's facilities include an outdoor pool, business centre, fitness centre, revolving viewpoint (84th floor), 24-hour guest service and more. The Airport Rail Link trains (Rajprarop Station), connecting you to/from Suvarnabhumi International Airport, is within a walking distance from the hotel.
It was raining that day, but that didn't stop us from exploring Bangkok, Thailand on our first day. We did a lot of walking, we pretty much walked to and from places as we explored the city. What made my first night in Bangkok special is that it was my first time to go cruising! And what’s amazing is that the host on the cruise was also a Filipino, and she’s really good in singing. As soon as she started singing some up-beat music, everyone got up from their seats and started dancing! All of us had a great night, we were full from the amazing food they had served and we were all exhausted from dancing. It was really a night to remember.
On our second day, we all decided to go temple-hopping. Every temple we visited was very picturesque. I was really amazed by every Buddha statue and how the temples were made. Some were even made from real gold. It was really hot outside and people were all over the place. We also had the chance to meet some Filipinos there too. My feet went numb because we went walking for about three hours straight, so we’ve decided to chill in our van and enjoy the view from our windows.
After road tripping for about two hours or so, we got really hungry so we gave Thai food a try. The food didn’t fail us. It was absolutely heavenly. I may have ordered a lot of food because it was all so good!
Everyone else was still energetic after the trip so they went out searching for more temples, while my sister and I took a nap in our room because apparently two hours of sleep last night wasn’t enough.
Before the night ended, we all went shopping. Clothes were a lot cheaper there, so we probably bought a ton of clothes.
After that, we explored our hotel. Apparently a night isn’t enough to tour our hotel because it has 83 floors! So we’ve decided to go to the most visited floors, and what made it memorable was the uppermost floor.
The 83rd floor was apparently Bangkok’s 360 degrees revolving roof deck. The view up there was really breathtakingly beautiful that you could see how Bangkok is really alive at night time. Lights from buildings make Bangkok really glow that it was really a memorable experience.
Our last day In Thailand went really fast. We made shopping as our cardio exercise in the morning.
In the afternoon we went to our last destination; Safari World. I had a great time feeding the giraffes and watching live animal shows. In a blink of an eye, the day was gone and we were already packed and all ready to go home.
I forgot about trying to document the whole thing in pictures and videos. I guess I was too deep in the process of taking it all in... Years of hopelessly wishing upon airplanes that flew by, having that ‘I’m-in-a-movie feel,’ and telling myself "Someday, Aurora, someday."
Thank God, ‘someday’ came and happened, and now everything feels so surreal. The trip back home was really exhausting. Everyone was pretty much drained so I had no one to talk to. I just savored the moment of flying up in the air and seeing clouds float from my window pane.
As soon as we arrived in the Philippines, things went back to normal again. We gave our goodbyes to my cousins because they will be flying back to Mindanao, and then we went home and enjoyed our deep slumber. It was just like a dream. A dream that I would like to visit again someday.
