Savoy Bistro: Delectable European Cuisine

Wazzup Pilipinas !

Don't be confused when you try to look for this restaurant that serves authentic European dishes right at Kalayaan Avenue in Makati. Savoy Bistro is also housed inside the East Asian Art Gallery. Its a restaurant and art gallery in one.

Like the art gallery cum restaurants that are plenty in Rizal, the place serves great food (a feast to the stomach) and has a collection of artistic items (a feast to both the eyes and soul).

Chef Robert Lilja., known as “A Humble Cook“, served us Continental Classic Cooking “Haute Cuisine” specials originating from recipes dating back to as early as 1837. He was the one who looked after restaurants like La Tasca, Pacific Club, Danish Connection, The Gustavian, Brasserie Boheme and now Savoy Bistro.

The venue is superb and rich in creativity. Imagine two floors filled with fine art from the entrance to even the comfort rooms. Most of the contents, including paintings and sculptures inside the restaurant and art gallery are for sale. There's even a billiard table plus another similar one but with all red balls (I just forgot what it was called).

If you were not yet sold by the amazing ambiance, you better check out the cuisine that boasts of true European authenticity.

One of the most recommended appetizer is their best-selling Mussels & Co.  which are mussels in white wine and cream sauce with their freshly baked sourdough bread that is crunchy and chewy in the middle. Its ideal to dip them in the sauce and then savor the taste as you grab a bite.

I would loved to discuss more about the dishes but I already forgot their names. But the taste I still remember.

Of course there would alwasy be the complimentary "bread and butter" to start the evening dinner.

Anything wrapped in bacon is "Oh, so good!". Was that mango I see, its the perfect combination after all.

If there's one thing that should not be left out for dinner are the healthy veggies included in the dishes.

Their Chef’s Pate Platter consist of chicken liver pate, pork liver pate, red beets, jamon serrano, cherry tomatoes and sundried tomatoes served with cranberry jam and sourdough bread.

Other Savoy Bistro specialties include Gravlax Salmon Platter, Baked Mushroom and Eggplant, Chicken a la Point, Pomodori Pasta, and the Pepper Steak Madagascar.

For dessert, everyone is talking about the Delmonico’s Baked Cheesecake and Grand Marnier Chocolate Mousse as their best sweet treats. I ordered the latter but I completely forgot to take a picture.

Come to think of it, we also had two yummy and juicy steaks that I also neglected to take a picture of. But you have to trust me when I say its totally worth the money you paid for it.

They also have a good selection of wine that will suit even your exquisite taste.

The only problem with this restaurant was that it was difficult to get a reservation. Twice we tried already and got only a "fully-booked" reply, it was only at the third try that we finally got in.

Recommended budget per person is around Php 1200.
