Chef Lau's Pugon Roasters : Pinoy Breakfast Highlights

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The popularity of celebrity chefs on TV somehow makes me want to challenge them if they could really offer excellent food other than just their great looks and mesmerizing foodie talk.

I've seen a lot of them in television, cooking demos in trade fairs, exhibits, etc., and even as judges for anything related to food - undoubtedly they have become popular - admit it or not, they have the appeal of the masses! I guess Filipinos either love to cook, or love to eat - maybe both!

Chef Lau is one of them - and with that rockstar long-hair look, he definitely catches the attention of many especially when he came out on TV alongside celebrity Judy Ann Santos at the Pinoy Junior Master Chefs cooking reality show for kids.

The Chef Laudicos happily brings you Pugon Roasters

Lau is actually short for Laudico, his last name, of which he now shares with his wife Chef Jackie. The two Chef Laudicos are both famously known as top-notch chefs, and I've seen Chef Jackie in a TV commercial lately so she is definitely becoming another face to watch out for. She also has long hair but I guess her husband still holds the title of a rockstar chef!

The Laudicos are famous also for their restaurants, which now includes one that is now targeted for the masses because of their affordability - Chef Lau's Pugon Roasters - located at Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati - with the other many restaurant choices all laid out in a row. Pugon Roasters is known for their brick-oven roasted chicken available at a very affordable price.

So what will entice you to visit Pugon Roasters instead? Read on!

Without sacrificing the taste and quality, the Laudicos now can serve you Pinoy dishes that is just right for your budget but with a hefty serving that will definitely satisfy your hunger.

We visited their resto to try out the Pinoy Breakfast - plenty of traditional Pinoy breakfast served with a Laudico touch.

I've been enjoying the "silog" dishes and its many variations from the original "tapsilog" to represent "tapa", "sinangang" and "itlog" - and the tocilog, chicksilog, porksilog, etc., since my college days at Mapua Institute of Technology at the many Intramuros hole in the wall mini-restaurants. It was the most economical way to dine on a small student budget - even before the Happy Meals of fastfood chains.

Chef Lau's Pugon Roasters offer the same budget meals, plus more (like the Hashilogs), but with class that will surely bring out an appetite to keep you coming back for more.

Crispy Bangus Paksiw - Fried oneless bangus belly with Paksiw sauce, grilled eggplant, fried egg and garlic rice

Tapsilog - US Angus Tapa - definitely not traditional and with a very special Chef Lau touch

Eggsaymada - your choice of Lukban Longganisa, Chicken Ham, Tocino, etc., topped egg and creamy cheese sauce

Pugon Torta - a unique eggplant and potato delicacy that you must try

Longsilog - real and authentic Lukban Longganisa paired with fried egg sunny-side up with sinangag and some atchara

Hashilog - with Corned Beef and egg - you're suppose to mixed this treat thoroughly before serving

SMT for dessert - Suman (rice cake), Manga (mango) and Tsokolate (hot chocolate but you can request for coffee instead) . There's a few blobs of chocolate to decorate and taste

Chef Lau wants to tap the "madlang people" with their Pinoy Breakfast offerings, and I am pretty sure that they will.

Check out their Pugon Roasters restaurant NOW! Be extremely satisfied with their Pinoy dishes from breakfast to lunch, and then dinner, and be entertained as well with the dancing lights show happening at the Ayala Triangle Gardens at night time.
