Cameron Mackintosh's Miss Saigon Returns to Singapore After 23 Years!

Base Entertainment Asia in association with GWB Entertainment are thrilled to announce that the acclaimed new production of Cameron Mackintosh’s award-winning musical Miss Saigon by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg will play at Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands from 15 August 2024 for a strictly limited season.

Miss Saigon opens in Singapore following an exceptional season in Australia after a triumphant opening at the Sydney Opera House.

The waitlist to be first in line for tickets when they go on sale is now open at MissSaigon.sg until 18 February 2024, SGT2359. Waitlist subscribers and Maybank Cardmembers will enjoy priority access from 20 February 2024. Public on-sale will commence on 23 February 2024. All tickets will go on sale via Marina Bay Sands Ticketing and SISTIC.

Winner of 70 major theatre awards including two Olivier Awards, three Tony Awards and four Drama Desk Awards, Miss Saigon has been described as one of the greatest musicals of all time. From the creators of Les Misérables, Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg, Miss Saigon has been seen by 38 million people and performed in 15 different languages, in over 32 countries and 350 cities.

Speaking to the announcement of the Singapore season Cameron Mackintosh said, “I’m absolutely thrilled to be bringing my spectacular new production of Miss Saigon to Singapore. Without doubt, it is the best production of Saigon I have ever produced in Asia. I can’t envisage another show of this scale being done in Singapore for the foreseeable future”.

Miss Saigon tells the story of a young Vietnamese woman named Kim, who is orphaned by war and forced to work in a bar run by a notorious character known as the Engineer. There she meets and falls in love with an American G.I. named Chris, but they are torn apart by the fall of Saigon. For 3 years, Kim goes on an epic journey of survival to find her way back to Chris, who has no idea he has fathered a son. This new production features a sensational cast and an unforgettable score, including classic hits like The Heat is On in Saigon, The Movie in My Mind, Last Night of the World and American Dream.

The original production of Miss Saigon premiered in Australia in 1995 and returned in 2007. This new production of Miss Saigon opened in London in May 2014 to record-breaking advance sales and critical acclaim, it then opened on Broadway and a hugely successful US Tour followed.

Miss Saigon has music by Claude-Michel Schönberg with lyrics by Richard Maltby Jr. and Alain Boublil, adapted from original French lyrics by Alain Boublil, with additional lyrics by Michael Mahler. The new production is directed by Laurence Connor with musical staging by Bob Avian and additional choreography by Geoffrey Garratt. Production design is by Matt Kinley and Totie Driver based on an original concept by Adrian Vaux; costume design by Andreane Neofitou; lighting design by Bruno Poet; projections by Luke Halls; sound design by Mick Potter; and orchestrations by William David Brohn. Music supervision is by Alfonso Casado Trigo and Guy Simpson, with associate choreography by Richard Jones and the Asian tour production is directed by Jean-Pierre Van Der Spuy.

3DENT, senior students taking Bachelor in Advertising and Public Relations at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Manila Campus, trailblazer in immersive technologies, is gearing up for the highly anticipated 20th AdCongress with its entry, "Ad-mazing Prod! Integrating Tech Advancements in Advertising Production." The event is happily making a comeback with a live edition after a two-year virtual setup, set to unfold on February 13, 2024, at Claro M. Recto Hall, PUP Main Campus.

Ad-mazing Prod is an integral part of the 20th AdCongress, themed "ADPORTAL: Traversing Through the Maze of ADPR Innovation." The seminar promises to be an enlightening exploration of the transformative impact of technological advancements on advertising production. It offers participants a dynamic platform to delve into the profound influence of technological advancements, and it strives to inspire creative thinking and innovation in the advertising domain, fostering collaboration among industry professionals and emerging talents.
