Sara Duterte wants mandatory military service for all 18 years old, male and female

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

Sara Duterte "Gagamitin ko ang aking opisina—Office of the Vice President—para kausapin ang Congress and the Senate to make military service for all 18 years old, male and female, mandatory in our country. Nakikita natin ito sa ibang bansa, South Korea, Israel...

Hindi ROTC lang na isang subject, isang weekend. Dapat lahat kapag 18 years old, you will be given a subsidy, you will be asked to serve the country."

These countries have their own reason why they have military enlistment. And if her fuckery reason to be ok with this enlistment is for "discipline", hell no!

Military enlistment is a traumatic experience especially for those people who are physically and/or emotionally weak.

Does anyone remember why ROTC was taken out of the college requirements? Try to Google Mark Welson Chua of UST. That's when it all started.

Mark Chua’s murder in 2001 reverberated beyond UST. We joined the nationwide call to abolish mandatory ROTC, which, at that time, ran for two years. Mark exposed its corruption and it cost him his life.

We all know stories about abuses in the military plus in ROTC and how some were traumatized because of their experiences so what’s the point of making military services mandatory when we all know that it can do more harm than good?

Digong Duterte wanted to reinstate it in 2019. Now Inday Sara wants to do the same if she becomes vice president. To this day my opinion about the ROTC remains the same. We do not need to militarize our youth to teach them patriotism and discipline.

Adding conscripts to the ranks can only make logistics worse. Supplies will easily bleed and putting the country at a battle of attrition without the war even starting. Having more soldiers is not a win. The AFP is even struggling on fixing the hazing problem.

and BTW Digong Duterte skipped/cheated his way out of ROTC.

Hooked lang sa KDrama yarn si Sara?

Old man arrested for allegedly stealing 10 kilos of mangoes, meanwhile convicted Imelda Marcos is still free due to old age

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

The Philippines' justice system is a total wreck, for the poor and is very civil, to the wealthy.

Narding Floro, an 80-year-old man from Asingan, Pangasinan, was arrested on January 13, 2022 for allegedly stealing 10 kg of mangoes.

“Pinapitas ko yung isang puno ng manga wala pang sampung kilo, ang alam ko sakop namin. Noong binakuran nila, sinakop naman na nila pero tanim ko naman yun.” Lolo Floro said.

He added that he tried to settle things and volunteered to just pay for the mangoes rather than go to court. However, he was told that he should just pay the P6,000 bail.

To think that it was him who planted that tree yet ibang tao makikinabang just because they claim sa kanila yung lupa??

Meanwhile, Imelda Marcos has a warrant of arrest pero it was never implemented and she walks free.

Imelda Marcos was convicted guilty of 7 counts of graft in 2018 but has never seen a day in jail. She was sentenced to a minimum of 42 years in prison but was deemed “too old” to keep behind bars.

Si Imelda nga malaya eh bilyung dolyar ang ninakaw tapos eto pinitas lang yung itinanim niyang puno?

Pero kay Imelda na convicted hindi ipinakulong?! Dahil ba Marcos ay may consideration?

Get lost with your selective justice. This is not fair at all.

I'll rant because this government is making me sick. Stealing is not right even though tatay is 80 years old already but he explained and reached out for an agreement. Maliit na bagay compared to what Imelda Marcos did pero hindi nakulong?

Sorry tatay Narding. Our justice system is for the rich, powerful and politician only.

Justice should be for everyone but what's happening is, ang hustisya ay para lamang sa mga mayayaman at nasa posisyon o may impluwensiya. Bumaba na lang sila sa puwesto because they don't obey the law in the first place. Mga clown.

Batangas Forum Together with FDCP Hold Series of Filmmaking Workshops for Batangueños

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

From the Batangas Forum for Good Governance and Development Association, Inc.  (BF), in partnership with the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), comes a series of online workshops on the foundational skills in filmmaking through the FDCP  Film Talks @ Doon Po Sa Amin Pride Campaign for all Saturdays of January 2022.

The creative videography workshop series aiming to encourage the creation of worthwhile content through video productions highlighting Batangas’ culture and heritage commenced last January 8, 2022 and welcomed 120 participants to its initial session on visual storytelling. Majority of the selected participants are from the youth sector of Batangas,18 to 30 years of age.

The conclusion of the four-part virtual workshop is an invitation by the Batangas Forum for participants to produce short videos captured through mobile devices for a Festival of Short Videos to be held within this year. The coming festival is a key component of the organization's Doon Po Sa Amin Pride Campaign, an initiative to awaken the sense of pride of the people of Batangas through the production and dissemination of short videos that will showcase the many unique and distinguishing aspects of the culture and heritage of the province.

“The Doon Po Sa Amin Pride Campaign was also designed to uplift the morale of the Batangueños and send a message of positivity in the midst of these difficult times of the pandemic,” Batangas Forum President Mauro Barradas added.

The pride campaign was the brainchild of Batangas Forum member Direk Leo Martinez,  a veteran actor, filmmaker, and icon of Batangas. It seeks to be a push in reigniting local cultural and heritage consciousness and appreciation. The partnership with the FDCP strengthens the core of the project by giving opportunities for the participants, especially the young students, to nurture and hone their creative talents by learning from industry experts.

The FDCP Film Talks @ Doon Po Sa Amin Pride Campaign have put together a line of award-winning speaker-mentors for the different sessions—John Carlo Pacala for Storytelling last January 8, Zig Dulay for Introduction to Directing last January 15, Anjanmar Rebeta for Basic Cinematography on January 22, and Ilsa Malsi for Basic Editing on January 29.

In his remarks during the opening session of the workshop, Direk Leo Martínez, the Chair of the Batangas Forum's Doon Po Sa Amin Pride Campaign Committee, expressed Batangas Forum's deep appreciation for the generosity of the FDCP in providing this free virtual workshop for the aspiring filmmakers and film practitioners from his home province, Batangas.

On her part, FDCP Chairperson and CEO Liza Diño noted that, “This initiative of Batangas Forum matches the thrusts of our agency which includes the promotion of culture and heritage through films, popularizing filmmaking in the regions, and conducting local and international cinema festivals, among many others. And we are just so delighted to work with BF to kickstart the year with this activity.”

Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas, in his keynote remarks at the event, warmly commended the FDCP and the Batangas Forum for the joint project and strongly encouraged the participants to take full advantage of the unique opportunity the workshop offers so that, with the knowledge that they will acquire, they may contribute to the upliftment of the culture and heritage of Batangas.

The final outputs of the creative videography workshop capturing the sources of pride of  Batangas will be showcased in the forthcoming short video festival to be organized this year by the Batangas Forum. These videos may also be used as promotion materials of the province and its towns and cities, and, in the long run, serve as records of the province’s culture and heritage for future generations. Further details will be shared through FDCP’s social media pages.
