The Pinoy Tekkie Traveler

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The behavior of today’s tech-based travel aficionado is really amusing but totally amazing. Gadgets would often be seen as part of the journey. Now we don’t just see cameras, but smaller devices like smartphones, tablets or phablets (even high-end tech toys like GoPros and specialized accessories like monopods (the selfie sticks), where an individual can be carrying more than one.

What makes technology more radically awesome is that it is also now more convenient for us to upload our photos and videos instantly due to fast and affordable data or Internet connections. We don't need to wait until we get home to share the photos, we can do it while on the road.

Before travelling, the most popular move would be checking out travel sites and blogs to gather information about highly attractive and reasonable destinations based on our interest and capacity to pay.

Aside from checking online using the home or office desktop computer, the traveler would have also downloaded mobile apps specific to what will be useful for the upcoming vacation to check for flight, hotel and restaurant deals. For vacation vetting, they will read hotel and restaurant reviews, as well as activity and attraction reviews, to learn more about possible destinations to help in the initial planning stages of where to stay, dine and visit.

Many would look for reviews of other travelers because they find it more sincerely helpful and honest than getting information directly from the official websites of the business establishments. They also get social before the trip by “Liking” Facebook pages specific to the destinations already on their list, and they will most probably post a status update about their upcoming vacation to share their excite with their friends, relatives or colleagues.

Radio Co-Hosting at VIGATTIN Radio Show of Radyo Inquirer DZIQ 990 AM

Wazzup Pilipinas!

It is always a delight to co-host at Radyo Inquirer DZIQ 990 AM for the VIGATTIN radio show which airs every Saturday from 10 to 11 am. The main radio anchors are Elison Barceló and Arne Barceló. I co-host when I'm not too busy with my work load as your Pambansang Blogger ng Pilipinas here at WazzupPilipinas.com, and soon on the new TV show on IBC 13, the Wazzup Pilipinas TV.

The radio station is located near Shopwise Pasong Tamo in Makati city so it's quite easier to go there but my co-hosting stint at Family Business of Kinse Trenta (formerly Radyo Uno) DZME 1530 AM every Sunday from 5 to 6:30 pm, with Tito Nel Talavera, Bart Abaya, Dona Raquiza and Coach Dave Aguila, is more convenient for me since it's just located along San Miguel Avenue of Ortigas Center.

Similar to my arrangement with the VIGATTIN team, I am able to show-up at the Family Business show only when I don't have a conflicting event, or is not too preoccupied with obligations. Both shows guest mostly businessmen and entrepreneurs who want to get some significant airtime promotions to reach out to the greater masses of which radio shows primarily target.

I recently linked the two main hosts of the radio shows thus forming another alliance and a partnership for another TV show on cable and national TV which they call Baratan on Activate. We are always welcome to all forms of collaborations to further increase our reach and connect with more audiences to benefit both us and our customers.

TalentBin by Monster Allows Social Media-Fuelled Job Matches

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I was reading an article early this morning about an online recruitment company and their newest feature which allows them to scan relevant sites such as GitHub, Twitter, StackOverflow, Meetup, Google+ and other forums where candidates are active online. The information they get from these sites helps them find candidates that are more likely inactive job seekers that do not regularly upload their resume.

The region-wide launch of TalentBin by Monster, which provides recruiters access to previously ‘unfindable’ candidate profiles through aggregated social sources across the Web, aims to use a storehouse of actionable information and web-based recruiting tools to help locate hard-to-find talent. By aggregating public candidate social activity into a rich professional profile, recruiters now can find many previously undiscoverable candidates.

These is the same premise on how one of the lead characters of  a sci-fi movie is able to "mold" the traits and looks of his AI (Artificial Intelligence) robot. The story relates how the inventor and master developer/programmer was able to gather information from the Internet based on the activities of the user (one of his employees he wanted to use as a test subject), even his private porn-viewing activities were not spared, and thus able to "craft" a robot that the user will definitely like.

This ability to harvest information from social media or forums where we interact with other online users could be very useful as well for recruiters who can categorize us based on what sites we often go to, what movies we watch, what items we order, and a lot of other information vital to identifying which job we are most likely be qualified for.

Pinoy Life Hacks: Real Life Inspirational Stories From Real People

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I believe that the best lessons we can learn are those come from and have actually been experienced by real people. Story-telling becomes really natural and effortless, and likewise believable, when it really came from real-life experiences of the actual book authors.

Life becomes so appealing when we have the courage to share our stories, admit our mistakes, and realize the life lessons from the favorable or disappointing experience. Usually we encounter a lot of tragedies during our younger years because we are at a stage in our lives when we are prone to several mistakes brought about by hasty decisions.

We therefore welcome all kinds of support and encouragement to motivate us to move on despite the challenges. Reading about inspirational stories lifts our spirits and becomes sort of wind beneath our wings.

I recently got invited to a gathering where we were able to listen to four authors from Kerygma publications as they share their life experiences and answer inquiries for the benefit of the members of the media so we could also share to our readers the values we can learn from their motivational books.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow: Coming Soon on CW

Wazzup Pilipinas!
Sometimes the good guys aren't enough. Heroes and Villains come together on DC's Legends of Tomorrow, coming soon to The CW.

My balls just fell off cause I screamed like a little girl. OMG!! You had me a Vandal Savage! I have such a huge nerd boner right now!!!! This is epic to a whole new level!

Looks awesome!!! Glad to see Sara back while intros for Hawkgirl and Rip Hunter intriguing. The returned Arrow and Flash were nice to see while Cold and Heatwave are definite surprises. Ray and Professor are interesting to watch too. Atom basically looks like Iron Man plus Ant Man.

As a avid comic book nerd (seriously look at my shelf), this is as close as we'll get to a live-action Justice League series, with a great use of characters both old and new, both hero and villain, all legends in their own right, guess that means Oliver and Barry will have some role as well, but does that mean Mr. Queen is gonna change his name to Green Arrow finally? And how did Ray Palmer survive the blast at the end of last night's Arrow finale, will we get to know about Hawkgirl in this series, and will Captain Cold and Heatwave be able to work with heroes? There's only one thing to do, I'LL GET THE POPCORN BECAUSE THIS IS AWESOME, also the main villain for the first season, and maybe the whole series is Vandal Savage, finally a villain I know from the Justice League cartoon, Aside from Gorilla Grodd.

As much as I'm excited for this show, the continuity issues kind of bug me, the biggest being the return of Sara. Kind of negates the entire last season (which by the way in my opinion was the worst one) and makes it kind of pointless. Others being captain cold and heat wave being heroes on the show but when they're back in the flash they become villains again?

Avengers ripoff in every sense of the word. I see the Atom and I think Iron-man + Ant-man. Ripoff! And anyone who thinks DC is killing it on TV clearly hasn't watch Gotham and Constantine which were dull. And I'm not some pretentious Marvel fan boy. I love me some good DC stuff like The DK trilogy, Donner Supes, Burton Batman etc. but DC is desperately trying to play catch up with Marvel at this point and I have been completely unimpressed with what I've seen so far with Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman.

But still, it's excellent work. It's strange how the CW seems to already be doing a better job at setting up it's own DC universe and superhero team than Warner bros are with the DC cinematic universe despite the fact the CW has a much lower budget
