You might as well be in a world of pain and terror if you live and work in the modern city. The modern city inspires awe yet you can’t help but feel alienated and disconnected. Perhaps, through books and literature, you will be able to reach out to other characters that fill our tumultuous city.

The National Book Development Board presents Text and the City : The 4th Philippine International Literary Festival on November 11 to 15, in partnership with the University of Santo Tomas Center for Creative Writing and Literary Studies, De La Salle University Department of Literature, Ateneo de Manila University Rizal Library, University of the Philippines Institute of Creative Writing, and the Filipinas Heritage Library-Ayala Museum.

The occasion will highlight the best writers of the universities plus writers from all over the region who have made significant contributions to literature.

Ten (10) pre-selected finalists for the country’s first national transport app development competition will present and demonstrate their apps during the hack-at-home event’s awarding ceremony tomorrow, 14 October 2013, at the University of the Philippines campus in Quezon City.

The Philippine Transit App Challenge, launched by the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) alongside the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Cebu City Government in early July this year, netted seventeen (17) entries from which the 10 finalists were chosen.

These apps focus on empowering commuters to choose the fastest, cheapest, or most convenient commuting options in Metro Manila based on DOTC’s Philippine Transit Information Service (PTIS) database. Some of them target specific market segments, such as tourists who are exploring the city.

DLSU Green Archers Wins Over UST Growling Tigers at the UAAP Season 76 Finals

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Words are not enough to describe the feelings that ran out all over the place when Animo! La Salle nipped UST in overtime to bag the UAAP crown...Lol!

When we saw the Teng Brothers (Jeron and Jeric) congratulating each other after the game, it was a sight to behold and I can't really stop myself from shedding a tear.  Who was I rooting for? You can make a wild guess, but the spirit was actually for the entire game and for both teams who gave their best and showed everyone out there that we are definitely the best! The epic battle between the University of Sto. Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers and De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers.

De La Salle University denied University of Santo Tomas’ shot at history as it reclaimed its basketball glory last Saturday night, October 12, at the UAAP Season 76 Finals held at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Teng led the Green Archers in foiling the Tigers’ bid to become the first fourth ranked team to win the championship and bested his older brother Jeric, had 25 points -12 in the pivotal fourth quarter - along with eight rebounds and six assists. He had 15 points in La Salle’s 72-73 game one defeat, then bounced back with 19 points in their second game’s win.
