Illuminati : The Secret Society of Conspiracies

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Oh my, Illuminaughty! They're all around us. Secret conspiracies are everywhere, and where can you find the only truth?

Illuminati is
the name assumed by the members of a secret society founded by Adam Weishaupt in 1776. The word Illuminati  is the plural of Latin illuminatus meaning "enlightened" and is a name given to several groups, both real and fictitious,  that has become synonymous with the one world conspiracy.

Historically the name refers to the Bavarian Illuminati, an Enlightenment-era secret society to oppose superstition, prejudice, religious influence over public life, abuses of state power, and to support women's education and gender equality.

The Illuminati were outlawed along with other secret societies by the Bavarian government leadership with the encouragement of the Roman Catholic Church, and permanently disbanded. In the several years following, the group was vilified by conservative and religious critics who claimed they had regrouped and were responsible for the French Revolution.

Rico Blanco Takes Galactik Fiestamatik To First Major Solo Concert

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Fiesto Bandido—that musical wizard more popularly known as singer/songwriter/showman Rico Blanco—has pulled it off once again.

On Philippine Independence Day, June 12, 2013, Rico made history as he held his first solo concert dubbed “Rico Blanco LIVE!” at the Music Museum. The event was sold out by the week it was held as his fans, friends, and supporters trooped to the venue to witness what was promised to be a highly visual out-of-this-world journey through Rico Blanco's musical career. This wasn't just your standard concert; it was a show in every sense of the word.

Ever since the artist introduced the feather-and-chrome-clad persona of “Fiesto Bandido” for his newest album “Galactik Fiestamatik,” Rico Blanco's fans all over the country have been treated to a dose of the spectacle that has become the trademark for the musical chameleon's current persona. What with all the ati-atihan-inspired attire, the beats, the tribal dancing reminiscent of town fiestas (assuming fiestas are held in space), and the colorful light show that accompanies the music beat by beat.

Bloggers Who Write or Just Copy and Paste Press Releases

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Are you among those media people, not necessarily just the bloggers, that write about the event they've just attended or are you one of those that just settle for a copy-pasted article?

There was this little discussion that got my attention and has somewhat strike a nerve. I am posting this to get comments as I am also somewhat guilty of that dirty habit of copy-pasting press releases as a shortcut method for my blogging whenever I find myself too busy or lazy to "WRITE".

This also happens if I find the event too boring or less interesting and not worthy of an elaborate story. Most of the time I put the press release as part of the blog inserted among my own personal statements. It might be an insult if I don't include the info within the press release. But I do agree that it might be a bigger insult if we don't write about the event using our own words.

New Memories of Another Awesome Summer

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Last month April, my friend and I took an UPCAT Review somewhere in Quezon City. That was my first time to commute going to Quezon City, because usually I go to Quezon City with my parents and we often use our own car to go there. It was a sudden change of my routine during summer because usually when it is summer my family and I go to our province or to different places in Philippines.

At first, I was excited when I heard about having summer review for UP but it changed when my mother and my two siblings were scheduled to go on vacation in Bicol. I was very disappointed because I should have gone with them but my schedule for the summer review starts on the day of their flight. Even though I’m not with them I enjoyed my summer because of the exciting trips.

Nasugbu, Batangas : Blessed with Awesome Beaches

Wazzup Pilipinas!

All of us love summer, it's the most relaxing part of the year where we can do whatever we want. We can forget everything that has stressed us and we can go anywhere, anytime. We feel almost perfect as the sun shines, the breeze blows and the ocean sings. And of course we can really enjoy it when we are with our family or friends.

Last summer my family and I went to Nasugbu, Batangas.  They decided for us to go and have a break there because it's near the place where my father works. It's  an almost-paradise place and the view was really breath-taking.

Nasugbu is bounded on the north by the municipalities of Maragondon, Magallanes and Alfonso of the province of Cavite; on the east by the Batangas municipalities of Laurel, Calaca and Balayan; on the south by the Batangas municipalities of Lian and Tuy;  and on the west by the South China Sea.

San Juan 2013 Wattah Wattah Fiesta : Harmless Fun or Anarchic Thuggery?

Wazzup Pilipinas!

San Juan City is the smallest city in the heart of Metro Manila. It is among the smallest political subdivisions. They celebrate the feast of St. John the Baptist by throwing water to each other, and to the rest of the passer-bys going through their city enroute to another destination. The tradition is meant to replicate the baptism done in water by St. John the Baptist according to the Bible.

The fiesta was only christened Wattah Wattah in 2001, when it was under then Mayor and now Senator Elect JV Ejercito. The fiesta even has its own jingle now that goes like this: “Wattah wattah kay San Juan Bautista halina tayo ay magsaya, Wattah Wattah kay San Juan Buatista magdiwang tayo para sa kanya.” In 2006, the Department of Tourism recognized the Wattah! Wattah! Basaan Festival as one of the most celebrated fiestas in the country.

Many try to avoid passing through the city during the fiesta, but to those who have no choice suffer the consequence of getting wet involuntarily. Not my way of having fun.

My Husband's Lover Strikes a Religious Nerve

Wazzup Pilipinas!

"The GMA 7 program “My Husband's Lover” has prompted the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines' Episcopal Commission on Youth to call on television producers and writers to be more discerning in the themes used in shows, especially if the program's topic deals with public morals and values.

Now on its third week of airing, “My Husband's Lover” deals with a homosexual-extramarital affair."

I don't really think there is something wrong with the soap opera. Some of my friends watch it every night and in their humble opinions they say the show is tastefully and carefully done. To be honest, I feel like the producers and the writers are kind of holding back because maybe they are taking religious and moral values in consideration. What's the plug of MTRCB about "PG" and "SPG" prior to the airing of every show and in between is for? Display? Of course there is a purpose, right? The time slot of the show is also too late that for sure many of the kids are already sleeping. It's the responsibility of the parents to guide their kids if in case they allow them to stay awake late at night. Though I have nothing against the church, I think they're just over-reacting.

The CBCP should try watching before they judge prematurely. I bet even the Catholic priests didn't find time to watch before reacting. The show has plenty of stories to tell that are worth taking into consideration as life's lessons.

Wazzup Pilipinas!

YouTube has done wonders for many of our talented perfromers especially for the ones who were actually discovered and made popular because of their videos appearing on the social media video site.

Many were aspiring singers whose talents were more recognized and appreciated when they appeared on YouTube. The site has really made a lot of stars and a lot more hopefuls that maybe someday they will be given a break as well and get invited to talk shows of Oprah and Ellen.

Featured line-up of artists include Tanner Patrick (USA), Madilyn Bailey (USA), Nate Tao (USA), The 38 Years Ago (Thailand), The Sam Willows (Singapore) and our very own Zendee as the final act.

Philippines Reborn for a Better Tomorrow

Wazzup Pilipinas!

This is a statement coming from a Facebook friend which gave me sort of some shivers within. Not because its a dreaded wishful thinking of a hopeful citizen of the country but because of the admirable vision she wishes to impart to others though I feel its not really a priority of many who are only doing advocacy and charity work for show.

It is quite a challenge to motivate people if they see nothing to gain from the effort.

Every action has its ulterior motive, whether they admit it or not. It should be admitted and not denied because everyone wants something in return.

Epson Announces Investment in New Production Lines For Next Generation Print Heads

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Seiko Epson Corporation announced that it has invested approximately about 16 billion yen in two production lines in Japan.

The lines have been constructed to manufacture next-generation print heads – the core component in inkjet printers – for use in business and industrial printing systems to come to market in the latter part of the 2013 fiscal year.

This capital investment, made over three years from fiscal 2011, has been made to build new production lines that contain a host of original Epson manufacturing technologies. These new lines will be located in Epson’s Suwa-Minami Plant in Nagano Prefecture and the Sakata Plant in Yamagata Prefecture. Production demands a high level of technical skill, and Epson was required to bring to bear its many years of accumulated expertise in monozukuri – the art and science of manufacturing – to make the production lines a reality.
