The opening ceremony, held on September 11, was a memorable affair that highlighted WSI's lasting partnership with Cebu officials. WSI's Founding Chairman, Mr. Joseph Levi Ang, delivered the opening remarks, welcoming everyone to the event. The ceremony was also attended by several key figures, including IDr. Katherine Correa from the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers and Mr. Kent De La Calzada from the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Other notable guests included representatives from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and the Department of Tourism, as well as Hon. Kendrick Harold Go, the 1st District Councilor of Cebu City.

YAK! Binira ang mga Discaya: Walang Makakatakas sa Ghost Hunting, Mananagot din Kayo!

Para sa YAK! Coalition, malinaw: hindi biktima ang mga Discaya—sila ay aktibong kalahok sa isang bulok na sistemang pabor sa iilan habang nilulunod ang sambayanan.



“Ginagamit nilang palusot ang pamilya at mga empleyado, pero para sa aming mga kabataang Pilipino, ito ang malinaw: hindi pagmamahal ang pagnanakaw. Hindi biktima ang mga Discaya, dahil sila ay aktibong kasabwat sa isang bulok na sistemang kumita mula sa buwis ng bayan habang nilulunod ang mamamayan sa baha at sakuna. Ang mga ‘mema na palusot’ nilang “para sa pamilya at empleyado” ay hindi makakapagtakip sa bilyon-bilyong ninakaw nila, habang libo-libong pamilya ang nawalan ng tahanan at mga kabataan ay nag-aaral sa sira-sirang silid-aralan, ani Khylla Meneses, Secretary General ng Akbayan Youth at YAK Lead Convenor.



Naninindigan din ang YAK na hindi lang ang mga Discaya ang dapat managot. Dahil sa likod ng mga ghost projects ay mga mambabatas, kontraktor, at mga opisyal ng DPWH na matagal nang nananamantala at nagnanakaw sa kaban ng bayan.


“Hindi pagmamahal sa pamilya ang mansyon at smuggled luxury cars na galing sa kaban ng bayan, habang milyun-milyong pamilya ang binabaha at ang mga manggagawa at estudyante ay stranded sa kalsada,” dagdag ni Meneses



“Daig ninyo pa si Poncio Pilato sa paghuhugas ng kamay. Ang listahan na inilabas ninyo ay hindi pag-amin kundi ebidensya ng sindikatong matagal ninyong pinakinabangan. Hindi ito pagsisisi, pruweba ito ng kasalanan,” ani Matthew Silverio, Secretary-General ng Student Council Alliance of the Philippines (SCAP) at YAK Co-Convenor.



”Habang pinakikinabangan ninyo ang bilyon-bilyong nakulimbat, kaming mga estudyante nama’y naiipit ang pag-aaral dahil kaunting ulan lang ay suspendido na ang klase at stranded na kami sa mga gater, dahil sa lumulubog na mga lansangan.” diin pa ni Silverio



“Habang nagnanakaw sa buwis ng taong bayan ang mga kontraktor, nananahimik at nakikinabang ang mga mambabatas. Dapat pareho silang panagutin. Hindi pwedeng may itinatago o pinoprotektahan dahil makapangyarihan,” giit ni Angel Cruz ng Kaya Natin Youth at YAK Co-Convenor.



Panawagan ng Youth Against Kurakot: Ituloy ang Ghost Hunting! Isiwalat ang lahat ng opisyal, kontraktor, padrino, at kasabwat at gawing kadiri ang korapsyon. Ang pananahimik ay pagkakasala. Ang kalahating katotohanan ay pagtatakip sa makapangyarihan.



Ang Youth Against Kurakot (YAK!) ay ang pinakamalawak na koalisyon ng mga organisasyong kabataan, at konseho ng mga estudyante sa Pilipinas na lumalaban para sa pananagutan at para sugpuin ang korapsyon. Pinangungunahan ito ng Akbayan Youth, Student Council Alliance of the Philippines (SCAP), UP ALYANSA, PANTAY, Liberal Youth, Kilos Ko Youth, Kaya Natin! Youth, at Bulakenyos for Good Governance. ##
