I've Fallen Into the Rabbit Hole by Red Turnip Theater

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Red Turnip Theater has just presented its initial offering for the season and oh Wow! - The Rabbit Hole press preview took us into another world - seemingly dark yet full of relatable emotions that might make you insane if you look into life so seriously.

Topper Fabregas directs a play that centers on a couple coping with grief due to the lost of a child, but interesting enough was the fact that somehow, we found a few bits and pieces of situations when we couldn't stop laughing or grinning for a while.

The press preview held at Whitespace located at Chino Roces Avenue Extension of Makati last  August 1, 2014 was for me an unforgettable night filled with confused emotions that got recalled because of a past experience that I wanted to forget just to move on with our lives. But it seems life is such a naughty little kid that wants to play with us just for the fun of it.

Some of us must have gone through the same "rabbit hole" where none of our friends and families were able to ring us out entirely. There will be times when the feeling comes in uncontrollably as if we are losing our minds, suddenly staring at nowhere for an instant that will last from a few seconds to a couple of minutes, then you'll find yourself doing unimaginable things probably out of desperation that still lingers all throughout your lifetime.

The lost of a loved one is never easy. That is why we need more of our families and friends around us to constantly remind us that there are other people caring for us outside the horrible "rabbit hole."

I may be the one of those who could easily relate to the story since my wife and I also lost a child - our first born. He may be just a few months old when he left us, but still the feeling of frustration and grief, hate towards life, and finding  someone we can blame still remains especially when I find myself in a situation similar to what we went through.

This is the real reason why I had to leave early. I remembered my first born that God took from us at a very young age. I knew I had to leave before the lights turn on again, and knowing publicist Toots Tolentino who is fond of doing press cons at the end of every press preview, I had to get out of there before they see the tears in my eyes.

We tried our best to find some way to get back into running our lives back to normal. Admittedly, we lost so much motivation and the following days were really horrible to remember. Just like Agot Isidro's character Becca and Michael Williams character Howie, we too lost our little "Daniel". The effort to go on living our lives like nothing happened was difficult. Death in the family is never an easy thing. But you know what is more interesting about the play? When you find the situation
unexplainable and incomprehensibly funny for reasons as bewildering as understanding how humans think.

Congratulations to the entire cast and production of the Rabbit Hole. The play is highly recommended to effectively provoke the emotions within you. There seems to be a lot of emotions caught inside us, and we try our best to hide it, laugh it out just to forget, but still the residual and intermittent emotions persists every now and then.

Become emotionally involved and be sure to watch Red Turnips' Rabbit Hole on its regular runs. You won't be disappointed!
