Gardenia Plant Tour in Laguna

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Core Team Members of the Laguna Blogging Summit composed of Grace Bondad Nicolas, Pepi De Leon, Dianne Salonga, Yami Uytingco and Ross Del Rosario attended the Gardenia Plant Tour held a few days ago at the Laguna plant.

Gardenia, the largest bread producer in the Philippines, is one of the many sponsors of the 2nd Laguna Blogging Summit happening on October 15 and 16 at the Cultural Center of Laguna. They were also a sponsor of last year's 1st Laguna Blogging Summit.

Gardenia's roots go back to Singapore where, in 1978, it began as a humble in-store bakery. Increasing demand led to the opening of Gardenia's first-commercial bakery at Pandan Loop in March 1983. Gardenia has since been the market leader in Singapore and has expanded its operation in Asia to such countries as Malaysia and Thailand with the latest in the Gardenia chain of bakeries here in the Philippines.

Established in 1997, Gardenia Bakeries Philippines, Inc. started its full operations in 1998 using the largest, most advanced, large-scale bread manufacturing facility that is fully automated and computer controlled.

Over the years, Gardenia has gained wide acceptance and is now considered as the most widely distributed loaf brand, reaching many parts of the country.

The Laguna Blogging Summit is a gathering of blogging and social media experts who have collaborated to bring you an event where the attendees can learn valuable information related to social media and its varying influence, usage and benefits.

The theme this year is Social Revolutionist, a theme appropriate for what's happening today where people are not only using Social Media to promote their products or services or just to hook up with their friends, they are also using it for political campaigns, advocacies and even finding a job. Social Media revolution is happening and we can see people gathering like-minded individuals to form a group with same beliefs with the use of Social platforms like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

The event is also being held to promote tourism in the province of Laguna  so people will recognize Laguna as a place that embraces Information Technology and social media.

Attendees will be a mix of students and professors, professional and amateur bloggers, social media enthusiasts, entrepreneurs and business owners, government employees, etc.

Hey! That's one of the biggest loaf of bread I've seen! Too bad it's just an exaggerated stone image of the real thing.

The core team members were taken around the plant after a brief introduction and video showing led by a few Gardenia staff.

We had fun taking photo ops outside the plant at the various locations designed specifically for picture taking of guests and visitors of the plant.

The plant in Laguna can produce thousands of bread per day alone. They have another branch that also produces breads in thousands per day.

Inside, we were shown the cylindrical spiral cooling towers were loaves of bread are being rotated to be cooled and readied for packaging.

Almost the entire process of bread making at Gardenia are automated with very few interaction from the human employees of Gardenia.

Gardenia's mission is to serve consumers with the best quality assortment of great-tasting bakery and related food and beverage products, with world-class manufacturing facilities and an efficient nationwide distribution network, thereby providing a fair return.

Thank you to the Gardenia staff for showing us around their Laguna plant.

  1. Practically saying I'm fond of eating Gardnia bread especially their tasty bread since I was a kid. I don't know why but I really find their tasty bread literally "tasty" I mean you can eat the bread itself without any fillings maybe that's the reason why I love eating them.Actually as far as I can remember we went there exactly on that plantation on Laguna when we're having our field trip when I was a freshmen I guess. We saw how their product was made we roamed around the plantation and we're given a free sample after that.

  2. As far as I can remember,we already went there when we had our field trip when I was freshmen. I can say that this factory is a child-friendly factory. It's a perfect itinerary for elementary fieldtrips and everything. It is so cool to watch how our favorite bread was made.
