Smartphone Quick Snap vs SLR Quality Snap

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Today’s world is more image-centric than it ever was before. Whether you’re a Facebook fanatic, a Pinterest user, or an avid blog writer, there’s no denying the importance of a good image to attract engagement from friends and readers.

Fortunately, with the rise of quality and affordable cameras, making photo memories to share with your family, friends, and readers is easier than ever. In fact, most people today own more than one camera—a SLR (single-lens reflex) camera and a smartphone camera—which they use for different purposes.

You probably use your smartphone camera when you just want to snap a few quick photos of a local landmark or your night out with friends, or when you don’t want to worry about your camera in a crowded place like a concert venue or a theme park.

On the other hand, you probably use your SLR camera when you want to make sure you’re taking the best quality images at a special event or while you’re on holiday. Let’s take a look at few of the best smartphone cameras and SLR cameras to suit all of your photo needs.

Smartphone cameras

Camera phones have come a long way since they were first introduced to cell phone users. A recent article in Tech Advisor tested the cameras on six smartphones and ultimately concluded that the cameras on Samsung’s Galaxy S4, Apple’s iPhone 5, and BlackBerry’s Z10 models were the best on the market.

The Galaxy S4 price 32,620 PHP packs in an impressive 13 mega pixels and a 4128x3096 resolution, plus the ability to manually select ISO sensitivity, metering mode, white balance, and exposure.

The BlackBerry Z10 price 29,990 PHP features an 8 mega pixel camera with a 3264x1836 resolution. Its star feature is TimeShift, which allows smartphone users to capture images from several milliseconds before and after their photo was taken. That means that when you’re taking a group photo at the pub, you won’t have to worry about whether or not everyone’s eyes were open in the photo: simply scroll back to open your friend’s eyes before the flash and then scroll forward to combine it into your current photo.

SLR cameras

If you’re looking for a camera that will take incredible landscape shots on your next holiday, set your sights on a digital SLR camera. CNET’s round-up of best entry-level digital SLR cameras gives top billing to the Nikon D5200 price 41,990 PHP. The camera shoots an impressive 24 mega pixels and borrows features from higher-end dSLRs in Nikon’s range, including a 39-point AF system with 9 cross-type sensors and frame coverage, and a 2016 pixel RGB colour-sensitive monitoring system. It’s arguably the best on the market for beginners looking to snap high quality holiday shots and family photos.

The other major competitor in dSLR cameras is the Canon EOS Rebel T5i price 39,250 PHP. While its features aren’t quite as impressive as the Nikon D5200, the T5i still manages to be a great entry-level dSLR. The camera features 18 mega pixels, a 9-point cross-type AF system, and Full HD movie mode to capture videos when you’re at home and on holiday. No matter which camera you choose, you’ll be sure to snap great photos with a little practice and patience!
