Manny O Wines : A Taste of Wine with Elegance and Sophistication

We got to sample a taste of Manny O Wines similar to the ones given to us by the people from Manny O Wines during our Filipino Bloggers Worldwide First Grand Eyeball last Friday, December 7, 2012. I'm not really a lover of wine, but the taste got me to think twice.

The taste of Manny O Wines was very distinguishable, compared with other wines that I've tasted so far, it was heavenly inspring to learn that a good local wine maker has this here in the Philippines.

For a brief history of Manny O Wines, I got this information from a Philippine Daily Inquirer article. Read on:

"Manny Osmeña never had a liking for liquor or spirits; in fact, he is allergic to alcohol. The businessman, however, developed the interest, which eventually led him to become a blender of inexpensive but award-winning wines.

Now, Manny O Wines has seven blends that have garnered 49 awards in wine competitions in France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, the United States and Hong Kong. In these events, consumers rated different wine vintages or brands through blind tasting.

To maintain the surge in domestic wine consumption, Osmeña has kept his wine blends affordable. Five of the blends, which he calls “standard brands” are sold on retail at P635 a bottle. In some supermarkets offering discounts, a bottle may be bought for less than P600.The Cebuano blender is doing his share to sustain that growth. “I am democratizing wine. Good wine doesn’t have to be expensive. I want people to know that. I want to take the snub out of wine,” he says.

Sumiller, the most famous Manny O Wine with 11 international accolades, is blended from pressed Monastrell grapes that are grown in the Spanish region of Yecla. The sumiller isa a single varietal wine produced from 40+ YEAR OLD Monastrell vines from the spanish region of Yecla. Intense dark cherry color , porjecting frangnant aromas of mature red and blue fruies , hints of chocolate at the finish adding to the elegant sweet tannins. Pairs well with red meat and asian dishers with expensive sauces."

As you can see from the previous pictures, some of the wines were raffled off to the FBW bloggers during the grand eyeball. Lucky for them.
