Busog Bonding Moment for the Family at Skippy's Bar and Grill

Wazzup Pilipinas!

There's a popular saying that goes something like "The family that eats out a lot together, grows fat and chubby forever," or something similarly like that. I just added a twist to make it a little bit personalized and appropriate for our family.

Needless to say, we are a happy bunch who loves every opportunity of going out to eat. Thank goodness there's always an endless array of blessings which keeps us going out to share festive meals together.

We are the family that's always "busog" every time we decide to go out on a weekend or during special occasions where we celebrate a birthday, anniversary, an accomplishment or a long holiday when there's a longer vacation from school.

Thus you would guess that summer would be a time when we would mostly be out enjoying a family vacation, a hotel staycation, a restaurant visit - that's done usually after mass from our church morning visits - or simply going shopping at the nearest malls.

Among our weekend escapade is our visit to Skippy's Bar and Grill, an Australian restaurant that's not only open at night time for their beer-loving customers, it also welcomes families who want great Aussie-inspired dishes conceptualized by it's Australian owner together with his lovely Filipina wife.

We were invited to celebrate a special occasion there so we never hesitated to accept the offer. Every opportunity to dine with the whole family has always been a favorite activity.

It was not our first time at Skippy's for we have been there once before, but in my case, I've been there for several times already as they also invite me when they have their own special events like the celebration of Australia Day. Thus, we decided to order the dishes that we haven't tried yet as per our previous visit.

Sadly, we were not complete as a family that day because my youngest chose to stay at home to finish his school work. Thus only four of us were able to go out and enjoy the hearty lunch at Skippy's Bar and Grill. My daughter Hannah Krystelle being my eldest, and Hezron Kyle as second child. The bunso, Hansel Kyro, would be missing a lot from our Skippy's Bar and Grill dining experience.

As the drinks we ordered came and still waiting for the dishes to be served, the family decided to take some selfies or groupfies first around the restaurant. Both inside and out, we have photos at every corner of the Aussie resto.

We should give the schools a shout out to prevent them from giving excessive homework after school since it prevents children in appreciating life due to busy schedules full of school work and activities. They would grow old with very little time to bond with their parents for stronger family relationships.

The restaurant from down under has a bar for the guests who love drinking beer especially during game night when the boys gather round the bar catting with each other, yelling at the game as if the players can hear them, while enjoying different kinds of drinks.

If it were not for the billiard table, the resto would have plenty more room for tables. But the owners find it more friendly to have a game area which customers would appreciate more. They have in fact entertainment night when bands perform for the listening pleasure of their customers.

Collectors item shirts framed and displayed on the walls for posterity. Everyone coming in to the restaurant would definitely notice them.

The billiard table is always a busy part of the restaurant. Many friendships were made because of this entertaining way to spend time.

They have sports channels on projected display so you can watch at any time of the day. This looks better at night time when it's darker around the place but the show becomes clearer to watch.

Their menu cards were very new as they were obviously only recently made based on how clean they still were.

Various shakes at Skippy's Bar and Grill
All kinds of fruit-based shakes to keep you cool especially that summer is almost here. Mango would always be there being a fruit for all seasons just like the banana which is always available all year long. I'm always ordering mango before but lately I've been ordering for other kinds of fruit shakes.

Calamari (P380)
The Calamari is fresh squid coated with their special batter and breadcrumbs together with homemade tartar sauce and onion rings. The crunchy outside yet soft inside will soon make you want to have more.

Quesadillas (P350)
The Quesadillas were quite good for starters. They hit you really good as a great way to start your meal. The delightful combination of fajita chicken, bacon, mozzarella, bacon, peppers with sour cream as a dip is sensational. I would love to order another plate of this if there were no more
dishes to be served. Hold on because I need some room for the rest of the food.

Aussie Burger (P480 - 125 g pattie, P580 - 250 g pattie)
The Aussie Burger is made up of beef pattie, cheddar, lettuce, onion, beetroot, fried sunny-side up egg, pickle, tomato, pineapple, and bacon on a bun with chips. It's something like a Hawaiian burger because of the pineapple.

Bihon Guisado (P250)
The Bihon Guisado is our traditional Philippine pancit which is basically rice bihon noodles with stir-fried chicken and vegetables, and comes with buttered toast bread. Since foreigners are frequent at Skippy's Bar and Grill, they serve this to give visitors a chance to try Pinoy delicacies. We were curious on how they serve it Aussie style so we ordered one to try it out too.

Aussie Pizza (P250 -small, P450 - large)
The Aussie Pizza is composed of ham, egg, mushroom, bacon and pizza cheese on homemade thin pizza base. Since there were just four of us, the four slices was an appropriate division. I've tried the other kinds of pizza before so I guess it's also an intention to order those with an Aussie attachment to its name.

Lamb Kebab (P600)
The New Zealand Lamb Skewers with two choice of sides makes my kids go grab them kebab as soon as they saw it served on the table. This is why my cover photos shows my two kids munching on the kebabs.

Crispy Pata (P750)
The Crispy Pata seems like the most expensive in the menu. I rarely look at the price during the first days of being involved in blogging. But now I know it is also helpful to know especially when we are on a tight budget. It's so crispy and tasty even without dipping on the provided soy dip.

3 Scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream (P150)
Since Ice Cream was the only available dessert during that time, we couldn't really say if it was their best sweet treat. The dessert menu actually lists down a few desserts like the Apple Pie, the Chocolate Brownie, Cheesecake, and Creme Caramel. The price refers to 3 scoops of ice cream topped with cherries.

Thank you Skippy's Bar and Grill for another Busog Bonding Moment with the family.

Experience Aussie goodness down to the last bite! They are open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and even midnight snackin' to give you more reasons to visit Skippy's at any time of the day.

The restaurant is located at Federacion Drive Corner 7th Avenue after 25th Avenue, opposite end of building from McDonalds, in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig City.
