Hera : The Queen of the Gods

Wazzup Pilipinas!
There’s something about the Greek Gods and Goddesses that we like.  It may be because of their appearance (Aprhodite), their intelligence (Athena), their courage (Ares), their power (Zeus) and whatever characteristics they may have, they still appeal to us no matter what generation we belong to. And somehow we come to a point where we write something about them.  Just like what I’m doing now.  I’m going to give a tribute to one of the most known Goddesses, the wife of Zeus, Goddess Hera.

Hera is known as Zeus’ wife and I’m not sure if you’re aware of this, but she is also a sister of Zeus.  They have the same parents, Kronos and Rhea, but she was raised by the Titans Ocean and Tethys.  She has 6 children namely: Hebe (goddess of youth), Eilithyia (goddess of childbirth and midwifery), Enyo (minor goddess of war), Eris (goddess of discord and strife), Ares (god of war), and Hephaestus (god of metalworking, smithing, sculpture, masonry, fire and volcanoes).  She is a very powerful Goddess not only because she is the queen of the gods, but also because she was the protector of marriage, and married women were under her care.

As a wife, Hera can be easily jealous.  She punishes all the women that Zeus fell in love with, even when they yielded only because he coerced or trick them.  Somehow, she doesn’t follow the quote: “Forgive and Forget” because she never forgot an injury.  But as a Goddesses and a mother, she helps distressed married women and her son, Ares, turns to her when he’s sad.

Overall, Hera is a very important Goddess in the world of Mythology since she became the guide of the other younger Gods and Goddesses. Even though she is not the mother of the other Gods, she still served as one.

  1. Hi Lucille! It is true that Hera is a very important goddess. But you should have put more facts about her. And you should've given us an overview of how she reacts when she finds out about some of Zeus's affairs. You're article is not hard to understand and it's paragraph is organized properly. All in all, you did a great job.

  2. Nice choice. :)
Your article is good. The sentences and paragraphs are organized. The only thing I think you lack is the relation of the goddess you chose to you. What's your similarities and differences? I want to know why you chose Hera.
    Great work! :D
