Filipino Film Projects Awarded at Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum

Filipino film projects and filmmakers were well-recognized in the recently concluded Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF), especially with Adolf Alix, Jr.'s Circa and Mikhail Red's The Grandstand which received awards during the HAF Awarding Ceremony last March 20 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Circa brought home the White Light Post-Production Award, while The Grandstand won the Udine Focus Asia Award.

HAF is the leading film project market in Asia which provides Asian filmmakers with projects in development with opportunities for international co-production. It was held this year during the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART) where the Filipino projects were showcased along with thirty (30) Filipino production companies and producers at the Philippine Pavilion with the support of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).

Joining Alix and Red at HAF were Jun Robles Lana with Between Sea and Sky under HAF projects, and Lana again with Son of God and Raymund Ribay Gutierrez with Verdict for HAF's Work-in-Progress (WIP).

Meanwhile, four (4) Filipino films were included in the stellar lineup of films of the 43rd Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF). Alpha, The Right To Kill by Brillante Mendoza was in the Masters & Auteurs section, while the documentary In The Claws of a Century Wanting (Sa Palad ng Dantaong Kulang) by Jewel Maranan was under the Reality Bites section. Judgement by Raymund Ribay Gutierrez and The Imminent Immanent by Carlo Francisco Manatad were also in the Firebird Awards (Short Film Competition) programme.

The Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum took place from March 18 to 20 alongside the Hong Kong International Film Festival from March 18 to April 1 and the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market from March 18 to 21.

This leg will present panel discussions on tips on building a successful brand, conquering the world through design and innovation, and turning creativity to a successful enterprise. The roster of panelists and mentors includes Bernie Liu, CEO & President of Golden ABC Inc.; Rajo Laurel, Fashion Designer and Founder of House of Laurel; Jay Jonathan Aldeguer, President of Island Souvenirs Group among others.

We will also have mentors on different creative categories such as Performing Arts (Acting, Music, Dance), Visual Arts (Graphic Design, Painting, Film and Photography, Architecture, Sculpture), Fashion and Lifestyle (Clothing, accessories, hairstyling, make-up, shoes, bags), Events (Wedding, Corporate events, Parties, Concerts), Crafts (Handicrafts), Culinary Arts (Catering, baking, sweets and pastries, cooking), Digital Arts (Animation, Web, Game, App & Software development Development,) and Advertising and Publishing. MMOW on Creativity and Innovation is a mentorship discussion with aspiring and existing MSMEs in the creative industry. It aims to elevate the level of creativity with the help of mentorship and digitalization that will give wider access to the market for their products and talents.

APC Dance Company Proudly Presents #SeasonsSix

The Asia Pacific College Dance Company (APCDC) is one of the Performing Arts Groups in Asia Pacific College. The group develops passion, talent and discipline among its student members.

Since 2010, the APC Dance Company has been conducting an annual thanksgiving concert for those who has been part of their successes. Called Seasons, we are now on our 6th year of showing our gratitude and inspiring others through dance. In every concert, there is a theme that depicts what we have experienced all throughout the year.

This year’s #SeasonsSix will take place on APRIL 4, 2019 at the Asia Pacific College Auditorium. Our Seasons Concerts give our audience a whole other level of entertainment where we combine dancing with acting. We tell stories through movement.

APCDC’s Seasons Concerts are one of the much awaited events in the APC Community. This year’s story is a different one from the last concerts. It depicts a story that we all experience especially in this generation.
