Japanese Culture vs Philippine Culture

Wazzup Pilipinas!

We Filipinos have our own culture that we've learned from our ancestors same as the Japanese.

Obviously there is a big difference between Japan and Philippine Culture. One of these is when you meet local people, they tend to ask personal questions. But don't get irritated to them, they don't throw those  questions to intimidate or humiliate you. Because it is their way to know you and get to be friends with them. It is good sign for you if you've encounter those people here in Philippines who ask those kind of questions because they are concerned and interested in your personality.

Hera : The Queen of the Olympian Deities

Wazzup Pilipinas!

In this picture, Marie Mendoza, a former student from my school, portrays Hera in the English Culminating Activity last year. I chose Goddess Hera because I adore her strength and Beauty. She also protects women from the hands of their unfaithful husbands.

Hera was the queen of the Olympian deities. She is the daughter of Rhea and Cronus. She is the wife and one of the three sisters of Zeus, who saved her from their father Cronus that swallowed her along with her other siblings. The siblings of Hera are Zeus the God of the sky; Poseidon the lord of the Sea; Hades lord of the Underworld; Hestia the goddess of the Hearth; and Demeter the goddess of the Harvest.

The children of Hera and Zeus are the goddess of youth Hebe, the god of war Ares, the goddess of discord Eris , Enyo, Angelos and Eileithyia . Hera was jealous of Zeus' giving birth to Athena , so she gave birth to Hephaestus. In some stories, Hera was said to give birth to Hephaestus without Zeus. Hera was then disgusted with Hephaestus' ugliness and threw him from Mount Olympus.

She was mainly worshiped as the Goddess of women, marriage and childbirth. She was the protector of women, presiding over marriage and childbirth, and she frequently punished offending husbands. She is associated with the pomegranate, symbol of marital love and fruitfulness. The peacock was sacred to her. In Roman mythology, the goddess Hera is also known as Juno.

Hera was so proud of her beauty and strength. She was very jealous to the beauty of anyone else. She would even punish those women that she thought were too beautiful. She would often turn them into animals. She also disliked the Trojans, since Paris of Troy had not given the prize for beauty to her.

Hera was also notable for her jealousy among Zeus’ lovers and offsprings. She punished her rivals and their children, among both goddesses and mortals, with implacable fury. One of her famous victim was Heracles, the child of Zeus and Alcmene. She placed two serpents in the cradle of Heracles. She even drove the foster-parents of Dionysus mad, and tried to prevent the birth of Apollo and Artemis. Even Zeus usually could not stand up to her.

Hera was particularly worshipped at Argos, though she had important shrines also on Samos and Euboea. Hera is a mature and queenly figure, sometimes portrayed with a scepter or staff.

Tokyo Tower: Japan's Own Eiffel Tower

Wazzup Pilipinas!

There are many beautiful places in Japan. Some examples are Mount Fuji, Himeji Castle, Kamakura, Matsumoto Castle and many more.

From all the beautiful places in Japan, the Tokyo Tower is my favorite. The Tokyo Tower is the second tallest artificial structure in Japan (I'm not really sure what's the tallest tower in Japan). It is approximately 333 meters (1,093 feet) in height before the antenna was damaged by the Tohoku earthquake in 2011. The height of the tower shrank to approximately 315 meters when the antenna was repaired.

It is located in Shiba Park, Minato, Tokyo, Japan. It is said that the construction of the Tokyo Tower started in 1957 and was completed in 1958. One of the things why I like Tokyo Tower the best is because that it looks like the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. Tokyo Tower is white and orange in color.

Nipponshoku : Ramen So Good!

Some of the Japanese people really love to eat noodles. It is often a substitute for rice meals.
This is an example of a Ramen!

So good right? So lets describe Ramen! Ramen is a noddle dish, consists of Chinese-style wheat noodles served in a meat or fish broth. It is flavored usually by soy sauce or miso with topping like sliced pork, dried seaweed, kamaboko (crab stick), green onions and sometimes they add corn. Ramen is very popular in terms of its deliciousness and of course, because of Naruto series. So try it when you go to Japan! I'm telling you that you wont regret its taste! :)

Sun Broadband Quest to Culminate with a Bang via Rock Fest

Wazzup Pilipinas!
The search for the next big rock group comes full circle as ten college bands compete head to head in a rock concert finale as Sun Broadband Quest Battle of the Bands stage a music fest at Music Museum on July 12.

Among over a hundred of hopefuls that registered, the final ten bands from all over the country have been selected to battle it out for rock supremacy. To help every team to be on their top shape at the finale, Sun Broadband even held an intensive workshop for each member of the band from voice to instruments with mentors such as local industry greats Nyoy Volante, Ebe Dancel, Francis Reyes, Mally Paraguya, Eunice Jorge and Mike Dizon. Needless to say, the competition is fierce and the battle arena is serious.

“We have a ton of musical talents today and Sun Cellular, in partnership with MCA Music Inc, is dedicated to discover new talents and provide opportunities to our greatest, undiscovered talents today,” says Neph Denosta, Assistant-Vice President for Broadband Postpaid Marketing of Sun Cellular. “We’ve pulled together all the possible avenues and means to make each team not only be more prepared for the finale, but also prosper as a veritable musical act beyond the competition.”

Dingdong Dantes Surprises Everyone at the Gala Magazine Awards

Wazzup Pilipinas!

So I thought my article headline will be about the Gala Awards honoring the amazing events and its organizers from the past year, but whoah!!!, everyone was caught by surprise when Dingdong Dantes showed up on stage holding the latest Gala magazine issue which features him on the cover.

The Gala magazine cover shows a stunning Award-winning actor Dingdong Dantes with angel wings all spread out plus snakes at both his arms . Really cool !!! Dingdong Dantes graces the July Health and Fitness issue of Gala magazine fresh from his recently released movie "Dance of the Steel Bars." Dingdong shares with the readers how he finds strengths not only in his physical weaknesses, but also in his overall wellness.
I still need to read the magazine to find out exactly what they are depicting in the cover, but I'm betting the glossy pages of Gala magazine with usually excellent photos and content did justice to Dingdong Dantes' appearance in the magazine.

We Love Anime!

Wazzup Pilipinas!

We all know that anime is well known around the world especially in Japan. We can't say that Japan is Japan if there's no Mount Fuji, Tokyo Tower, sushi, ramen and other symbolic things and structures in Japan and of course anime.

What is the beginning of anime? Anime began at the beginning of 20th century, Japanese filmmakers experimented with the animation techniques that were being explored in the west. They developed such genres like mecha or about robots.
The first anime series that was released was "Otogi Manga Calendar", released on May 1, 1961. The first late night anime series was the "Hermit village" that was released on Sept 4, 1963. The first super robot anime series was "Tetsujin 28-go" released on October 20, 1963. "Sally the Witch" was the first magical girl anime that was released on December 5, 1966. "Space Battleship Yamato" was the first anime space opera series and "Mobile Suit Gundam" was the first real robot anime series, these animes was created by Toei Animations and Mushi Productions.

The ever famous "Doraemon" was released on April 2, 1979 by Shin-Ei Animation. The most famous genre of anime is mecha, like, Voltes V. The 2000's mecha anime was headed by "Gundam Seed"(2002), "Eureka Seven"(2005), "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion"(2006), "Mobile Suit Gundam 00"(2007), "Macross Frontier"(2008), and "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2"(2008).

Now let's go to the genres of anime. Classifying anime genres can be tricky. First, action genre anime, this type of anime is more of fighting element, like my favorite "Shingeki no Kyojin" or "Attack on Titan" this anime is about a boy named Eren Jaeger, he wants to kill all of the titans that invading their village because one of the titan killed and ate his mother so he want to kill them as a revenge for his mother.

Next, adventure genre anime, this type of anime is mostly consists of going to new places and exploring. My favorite anime in this type of genre is "Kyo Kara Maou", it is about a normal highschool boy that got sucked by the water in the toilet bowl and he ended up being in a different world and he became the king of a certain country which is called "New Makoku", and his goal is to bring peace among normal people and mazokus, and himself is also a mazoku.

Next, comedy genre, in this type the characters never get serious or maybe they're trying but ended up funny. I have two favorite anime in this genre, "Gintama" and "Daily Lives of High school Boys". Gintama is about some random gang and their leader is Gintoki Sakata or Gin, he's a freelancer and a samurai of Edo together with Shinpachi and Kagura they will accomplish their job that was given to them or in some episode they're just doing some random stuff.

Daily Live of High school Boys or Danshi Kokoushin no Nichijou is about three high school boys, Tadakuni, Hidenori and Yoshitake, and because they are in all-boys school they will do anything to fight a serious enemy... BOREDOM and because of this they're just doing random stuff but it's really funny.

Next stop, drama genre has a lot of shocks, suspense and emotions. Actually, I think this is also included in romance but according to its description it is in drama, so this is "ToraDora", it is about a high school girl that was supposed to give a love letter to her crush but she put it in a wrong bag and Ryuuji, the guy with that bag and Aisaka, the girl with the love letter took a promise that they help each other to be close to their crush. Aisaka's friend, Minori, is the crush of Ryuuji, they helped each other throughout the way, since they're neighbors they often go to school together and some of their classmates thought that they're in a relationship, so they developed their feelings and ended up being together.

Next is romance genre, romantic relationships are the dominant element. I have two favorite anime in this genre, and one of the two is "Special A", it is about 7 students who are studying in a elite school and a special section. Top 1: Kei Takishima, Top 2: Hikari Hanazono, Top 3: Jun Yamamoto, Top 4: Megumi Yamamoto, Top 5: Tadashi Karino, Top 6: Akira Toudou, and Top 7: Ryuu Tsuji.

It is mainly focused on Kei and Hikari, Hikari is a hard-working girl who wants to beat Kei, because when they were children Kei beat her in a pro-wrestling match and she wants to take it back, while Kei is a perfect boy who can do anything and good at academics, all of his classmates in S.A. knew that he is in love with Hikari while Hikari is so serious in order to defeat him, Hikari always challenge Kei to a match, academic or non-academic and Kei always agree to that so he will be close to Hikari, and in the end they're together.

The second one is "Kaichou wa Maid-sama", it is about the first female student council president of a former all-boys school, named Misaki Ayuzawa, she is the rank two in her school, but she has a part-time job which is an employee of a maid cafe which is required to wear maid costumes and cosplay stuff and she wants to keep it a secret to protect her reputation in the school as student council president but one day Usui Takumi, the rank one in their school and well-known for his abilities, walked in through that cafe and saw his Kaichou wearing a maid uniform and Misaki thought that Usui might spread her secret or use it to blackmail her but instead Usui kept the secret and because of their little connection with each other they little by little fell for each other.

Sports and Tournament genre, in this genre the characters are mainly competing in games and tournament. My super favorite anime not only in this genre, general favorite anime is Kuroko no Basuke, it is about Kuroko Tetsuya, a high school student and a basketball player.

When he joined the basketball club, his teammates thought that he's useless but when they're in a practice game his coach saw that he has an ability that a normal basketball player can't do and that is "misdirection", it is an ability to direct the attention of your opponent to other things except for himself, and because he has low presence it is useful for him to pass the ball to his teammates, he is the phantom member of Teikou Middle School Basketball Club who's the expert in terms of passing and his goal is to defeat the Generation of Miracles together with Kagami and the rest of the Seirin Basketball club.

And I also want to share my anime collectibles... so please enjoy!! So.. as you can see there's a lot of Kuroko no Basuke posters (I didn't upload all the pictures and some are in my drawer.. sorry!) and there are plenty of anime magazines of different anime series.

Hope you learned something in this article and I hope you also enjoyed reading this.. Arigatou Gozaimasu!!~

Japan : Senso-ji Temple

credits to: Daderot
Wazzup Pilipinas!

I personally want to go to Japan (or Nihon) and visit the oldest temple in Asakusa, Tokyo, Japan, the Senso-ji Temple. It is also known as the Asakusa Kannon Temple. The Senso-ji Temple is the most popular and well visited temple in Tokyo, and it is known as the oldest living temple in Tokyo. Asakusa is the center of Tokyo's lower city. Asakusa was known as the entertainment district before the bombing during World War II

Legend has it that two fishermen at the Sumida river in the year 628, found a statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy, in the river and even if they put it back into the river, it always comes back to them. The temple was built in honor of the goddess Kannon. The Senso-ji Temple was destroyed during the war (World War II). In the courtyard of the temple is a tree that was hit by a bomb, the tree grew new branches from the stump and was regrown, the recovery of the temple and that tree represented the recovery of Japan from this devastating attack.

Hestia : The Virgin Goddess

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The honored, first born of the Olympian gods, Greek goddess Hestia is also called the last born because her father swallowed his children and then regurgitated them in reverse order.

Intrigued by the title? lol. When I was on my junior year, our history teacher told us the story behind every Olympian god or goddess, Hestia here, though she was courted by Poseidon and Apollon, Hestia chose to remain a virgin.

Though t'was okay, because I, myself, don't wanna have an affair with my brother or any relative, but who cares, they are gods and goddesses!
