Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair lands immediate jobs for SHS graduates

MAKATI CITY, 20 March 2026— The graduation season has turned into a hiring season for over 1,700 Senior High School (SHS) learners as the Department of Education (DepEd) sustained the nationwide pilot of the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF).

The inter-agency initiative, aimed at dismantling the financial and bureaucratic hurdles facing first-time jobseekers, reported that 241 SHS Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) graduates and Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners were hired on the spot during the recent rollout in Sorsogon, Cebu and Davao del Norte.

This follows the high-impact rollout across public schools in Makati, Mandaluyong, and Caloocan, where DepEd in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and other agencies, integrated employment document processing and job placement especially for graduating learners.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara said the program fulfills President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to streamline the transition of SHS-TVL learners into the labor market.

“This initiative is our way of ensuring our graduates do not just hold a diploma, but also a ticket to immediate employment through a one-stop shop,” Secretary Angara said.

A total of 1,747 registered jobseekers flocked to key BPSF sites, including the Gallanosa National High School, Casiguran Technical Vocational School, and Bulan National High School in Sorsogon; Talisay City National High School; and Panabo City Gym.

The BPSF serves as a one-stop shop to solve the problem of costly pre-employment paperwork. 

In line with the First Time Jobseekers Assistance Act or Republic Act No. 11261, co-authored by Secretary Angara during his term in the Senate, applicants received their documents such as PSA birth certificates and NBI and police clearances free of charge.

DepEd estimated that families saved between PhP740 and PhP820 in fees alone, excluding the cost of transportation and the time usually spent visiting separate offices.

The piloted program recorded 241 immediately hired graduates: 80 in Sorsogon; 145 in Talisay City; and 16 in Panabo City.

Overall, more than 50 percent of qualified candidates were placed, which DepEd said showed that when employers and services are brought directly to learners, hiring happens faster. 

The fair also provided other services including onsite medical certificates with PhilHealth assistance and Civil Service exam registration, equipping graduates with a full professional toolkit before they even stepped off the graduation stage.

After four years of proving that life can truly sprout from the pavement, Urban Farmers PH is preparing to pull up its roots. As the sun sets on their BGC tenure this April, the community isn't just witnessing the end of an event, but the closing chapter of an urban miracle—and the frantic, hopeful search for its next patch of earth.

Urban Farmers PH recently hosted its Bounty and Blossoms event: A Summer Vegetable and Garden Fest, at 34th Street, Corner 5th Avenue, BGC, Taguig, on March 21, 2026.

The event was spearheaded by Founder, Louie Gutierrez, CEO of Silverworks, a renowned jewelry chain in the country, in partnership with Allied Botanical Corporation.

The all-day festivities commenced with a program, Harvested for Hands, led by Wonderhome Naturals, who officially launched their Wonderhome’s Tomato-Inspired Collections.

Artistically crafted tomato-based snacks and beverages were presented as part of the launch. Media and content creators were also provided with a guided tour of the community farm, offering an exclusive all-access and knowledge journey of the entire plantation’s verdant landscape.

Guests were also presented with exclusive complimentary items such as baskets and farm-to-table vegetables and fruits—in addition to hand sanitizers and essential products from Wonderhome Naturals PH.

The event serves as a tribute to the plantation’s four-year farming journey in BGC, Taguig City, which concluded with a night of serenade and exceptional music from a distinguished lineup of local artists.

Urban Farmers PH will officially conclude its tenure in BGC on April 6, 2026. The community farm extends an invitation to volunteers and enthusiasts to visit and reserve their last-minute activities and workshops as the plantation aims to find its new home in the forthcoming months.

As the sun sets on 34th Street, it leaves behind more than just harvested soil; it leaves a blueprint for a greener concrete jungle. For four years, this patch of earth proved that nature doesn't just survive in the metro—it thrives. BGC may be losing a garden on April 6th, but the seeds of sustainability sown here have already taken root in the hearts of a generation ready to bloom elsewhere.
