Top 6 Premier League scorers of all time

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

As any other championship, the English Premier League has its own legends who, with their outstanding results, have forever inscribed their names in the hall of fame. Many young fans will be surprised, but there are not many current players who have shown the best football results.

One of the reasons for this is the rather high bar, which requires long-term successful performance over many years. In addition, experts note the constant growth of competition, which means that today it is much more difficult to score the same number of goals as ten, twenty or thirty years ago. On the other hand, the constant development of football and the inevitable growth of players’ results makes the favourite sport of millions more spectacular and filled with events.

Most productive footballers of the Premier League

The English football championship is filled with famous players who have earned the love of fans for their phenomenal performances. But if we look at the Premier League fixtures in terms of the performance of forwards, there are several names that once thundered around the world:

Alan Shearer (260). After spending more than a decade at Newcastle and ending his professional career there, Alan took up analytics and still remains in the football information field.

Wayne Rooney (208). Having come a long way in the Manchester United shirt after the retirement, Rooney made the decision to proceed as a football coach. His considerable experience and additional training allowed him to first enter the coaching staff of Derby County and then become its head coach.

Andrew Cole (187). It’s not surprising that he made it into the top-3 scorers, since Cole has played in the attacking line of various English clubs for almost thirty years. During his career, he defended the colours of Manchester United, Arsenal, Fulham, and so on.

Sergio Aguero (184). For more than ten years, the name of the Argentinean has been associated with Manchester City, where he scored almost two hundred goals.

Frank Lampard (177). He gained his fame playing for the capital Chelsea, but the last match in his career as a professional footballer was in a shirt of Manchester City.

Thierry Henry (175). The French star has done well on English soil, helping to maintain his club's dominance over several excellent seasons.

As you see, in order to shine in the fixtures Premier League, players don’t need to have an English passport. Even now, there are only four British, one Argentinean and one French in the top six. The reason for this was loyalty to strong legionnaires who could complement the already powerful Premier League clubs.

Carles Puyol – a defender with a lion’s heart

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

It will be no exaggeration to call Puyol one of those players who stood at the root of Spanish Barcelona’s success, having survived its “dark’ times, constantly remaining an important part of the team. To a large extent, the improvement and growth of Barca’s football result were triggered by the confident actions of one of its key defenders. For his character and dedication on the football field, Carles was even got his Lionheart name, although another nickname could often be seen in the press – Tarzan. It was his famous disheveled hairstyle to blame, which caused quite specific associations among the audience.

It should be mentioned that despite his absolute loyalty to the club in which he spent his entire career, Carles was the lowest paid player of the main squad for a long time. Only in 2000 evaluation of the player’s work significantly changed, after he was invited to Spanish national team. This confirmed his status as a high-class defender, who was able not just to play football, but to show a really high result. Since then and almost until the end of his career, Puyol had a guaranteed place in the starting lineup of the country’s main team.
Regalia and awards

Puyol's performance in Barcelona and the Spanish national team included quite a lot of successful tournaments, which the team ended with a victory or a prize place. In particular, having played 392 La Liga matches, he won such trophies as:

The first place of the Spanish championship - 6 times.

Won the Spanish Cup - 2 times.
Won the Spanish Super Cup - 6 times.
Won the Champions League - 3 times.
Won the European Super Cup - 2 times.

At the same time, the defender successfully performed as a part of the national team. He won the European Championship (2008) once and triumphed at the World Championship (2010). At the same time, Spain could confidently get a place in the list of formidable rivals, who were always considered by opponents as contenders to the champions title. In particular, Spaniards confidently passing the qualifying stages for international tournaments and their group stages have become a tradition. The main fight began in the playoff stage only.

On the other hand, Puyol consistently fulfilled his defense mission, performing as confidently as if this was another La Liga tour and playing all matches as efficient as possible. He also managed to score over 30 goals wearing Barcelona’s uniform.
