"Emergency Alert" campaigns for Bongbong Marcos

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

On the day former senator Bongbong Marcos filed his certificate of candidacy, members of the media covering the Harbor Garden Tent of Sofitel Philippine Plaza received an “emergency alert” announcing his presidential bid.

People have reported receiving an emergency-like phone alert promoting BBM, the acronym is defeated 2016 VP bet and dictator's son Bongbong Marcos.

The public usually only gets these notifications during natural calamities.

COMELEC Spokesperson James Jimenez says "There is no penalty specifically for the use of emergency channels for campaigning - at least not under electoral laws; however, it can be assumed that the emergency alert system operates under guidelines that would prevent the use of the system for non-emergency uses."

"While there is no doubt that this use of the emergency alert system is ill-advised at best, whether or not criminal liability will attach to those who are behind this move will have to be determined by the appropriate agencies of government."

Former Bayan Muna Rep. Neri Colmenares said that if proven that Bongbong Marcos is indeed behind the hijacking of emergency alert texts for his presidential campaign, then it seems that the Marcoses would also be guilty of robbing the country’s airwaves.

This should be further investigated. It's very wrong. It will be a disappointment if COMELEC just let this happen ng wala silang ginagawa...or at least refer this to the appropriate authorities to investigate. ...The problem, almost every agency is under the Duterte administration who has close ties with the Marcoses.

Kailangan may managot.

That is...Only if it can be traced back to him. And we know that can't happen in our current situation...and administration.

Either ginagamit ng BBM camp ang emergency SMS facility ng gobyerno or they are misrepresenting as an emergency alert what is clearly a political ad.

This should not be allowed either case. emergency alerts should always be a true emergency alert. If politicians like Marcos do this, people will eventually not take emergency alerts seriously and that can have dire consequences for the people.

What more kung naka pwesto na?

Marcos is weaponizing the country's institutions to improve his election chances.

The disaster emergency messaging system is being sabotaged. There is a clear violation of the law! This is a clear violation of RA 10639.

Can you just imagine if all the candidates running for office do the same thing that Marcos did? people will be swamped with fake “emergency alerts” on a 24/7 basis.

The unsolicited messaging over public service channels is a violation of privacy and basis for everyone to look elsewhere when choosing a president.

If the NDRRMC denies posting this, sinong bayarang telecom network ang nagsend nito? They need to be reprimanded heavily. This is unfair and dirty. The telecoms should be held liable kasi sa kanila ang transmission ng mga emergency alerts if this is true.

But I don’t think this is the NDRMMC emergency alert. I think Marcos has an app that allowed him to send texts to everyone who has a cellphone.

NDRRMC executive director Ricardo Jalad says they have nothing to do with Bongbong Marcos ‘emergency alerts’.

‘Big NO! Ours go through the telcos. They will surely not accept that from us. We are allowed only by RA 10639 to send alert messages on impending hazards.’

Jalad says it’s possible for private entities to make arrangements with telco firms for such types of messages.

The Boy who cried Wolf.

That's extra special garapal. Did a government agency allow that political propaganda?

Consider yourselves warned.

Sakto lang, the thought of Marcos back in MalacaƱang is alarming talaga. Tama naman. Pinaghahanda tayo sa nakaambang kalamidad - a Marcos back in the palace!

Obviously he's too desperate to win this election para makapagnakaw rin kagaya ng ginawa ng tatay niyang diktador.

Can anyone else confirm receiving this?

What network are you on?

Where was your area or general location when you received this?

The NTC has ordered an urgent investigation into the emergency text blasts announcing the presidential bid of dictator's son Bongbong Marcos, deputy commissioner Edgardo V. Cabarios said.

Cabarios said these may have originated from illegal mobile cell sites.
Cabarios said portable cell sites are typically used by the NDRMMC to air alerts in areas hit by calamities.

Apart from NDRMMC & those given permission, it is illegal to buy and sell portable cell sites, he said.

Cabarios said they also coordinated with the telcos, which denied involvement in the text blasts.

He said their regulation department would soon come up with recommendations & possible action with law enforcement agencies.

Government using our tax-paid resources to campaign for Bongbong Marcos? Or BBM sending out political ad mimicking government’s emergency alert system? Either way, appears illegal?

Didn’t know they also used the emergency alert system to announce that thieves and human rights violators are nearby. That’s definitely a severe emergency.

On a serious note, this emergency alert is also a warning that some candidates are already—and blatantly—engaging in illegal campaigning tactics.

Bicol International Airport is now nearing completion and will offer state-of-the-art contactless features

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

After experiencing 11 years of delay, the Bicol International Airport is now nearing completion and will offer state-of-the-art contactless features for effortless passenger experience once it starts commercial operations on Friday, 08 October 2021, Transportation Secretary Art Tugade said.
Tugade explained that the airport went through three groundbreaking ceremonies but the non-stop construction works only began under the Duterte Administration’s Build, Build, Build Infrastructure Program.

“This is a promise fulfilled to Bicolanos. Despite the challenges and setbacks posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, natupad natin na by October tapos na ang Bicol International Airport,” Tugade said during his inspection of the BIA along with Albay Representative Joey Salceda on Sunday, 3 October 2021.

With the iconic Mayon Volcano as its backdrop and touted as the country’s “Most Scenic Gateway”, the BIA has contactless properties that are innovative solutions during the pandemic, making airport travel effortless, safe, and convenient, according to Tugade.

“Pinagdudahan ako rito kaya I took it as a personal challenge,” said Sec. Tugade, adding that the criticisms thrown at him served as his drive to expedite its completion.

Meanwhile, according to CAAP Chief of Staff and Airport Airport Projects Team Head Danjun Lucas, passengers can check-in without any face-to-face interaction as Contactless Common Use Self Service Kiosks are available at the Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) Ground Floor Check-in Lobby.

“We tapped the service provider of the Clark International Airport (CRK) in Pampanga to maximize the same high-technology features as the CRK, which is equipped for contactless baggage handling and food ordering system,” Atty. Lucas said.

At present, the passenger terminal building of the Bicol International Airport is 97.28 percent complete.

Once operational, the BIA can accommodate a total of two (2) million passengers annually and is expected to boost Bicol Region’s air traffic.

Tugade stressed that the BIA will serve as a backbone of economic growth in the Bicol Region as it will generate employment and stimulate business, and local and international tourism activities.
