Key persons graced the event including Mrs. Mercy Tuppil-Amura, family business owner, Joey Garcia, President of Titans Group, and Pocholo Gonzales, VP for Marketing of Titans Group.

Mr. Babba Shawarma was established in 1988 by Mr. Vicente Tuppil, a former OFW chef in Persian Gulf. He is the father of Mrs. Mercy Tuppil-Amura. DMCI Homes First Auto Show Exhibit to Showcase Mobile Living Spaces

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Known as a hub of modern condominiums and subdivisions, DMCI Homes' Acacia Estates township in Taguig City will be showcasing mobile homes this time around when the community hosts its first AutoSpeed Show this weekend.

The two-day event to be held at The Tent on Sept. 21 and 22 will parade among others, vans converted into mobile living spaces and trailer homes complete with furnishings and elaborate amenities.

"Among the 60 cars that will be on display are trailer homes which perfectly complement road trip adventures," shared Philip Delos Reyes of Team Lightspeed Philippines, which organized the show along with CarMavens.

Providing added attraction to the auto spectacle are recreational vehicles, classic cars, 4x4 off road vehicles, high-end motorcycles as well as food trucks which will be stationed around the premises of The Tent.

A car audio contest of the European Mobile Media Association (EMMA) Philippines, meanwhile, takes place on the second day and will serve as qualifier for the 2019 EMMA Asia Finals and 2019 EMMA Philippine Finals competition. The organization’s primary goal is to provide rules and guidelines that will be used as continuing efforts to promote the auto sound industry.

"Aside from that, there will also be an RC (remote controlled) drifting competition for kids. So it's really an activity for the whole family," said Miguel Arle of CarMavens.

But more than providing an automotive attraction, the AutoSpeed Show will give car enthusiasts access to some of the best vehicle products and services by just paying a registration fee worth P50.

Part of the proceeds of the event will go to a chosen charity of DMCI Homes, Team Lightspeed Philippines and CarMavens.

Officers of DMCI Homes, Team Lightspeed Philippines and Carmavens recently signed an agreement for the staging of the 1st DMCI Homes Autospeed Show on September 21 and 22 at The Tent in Acacia Estates, Taguig City. PMMA Starts the 200 Days Countdown to their Bicentennial Celebration

Wazzup Pilipinas!

We were at Club Intramuros Golf Course last September 16 to attend the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) Bicentennial Celebration media launch - It's their 200 days countdown and to culminate with the main celebration to be held in San Narciso, Zambales on April 4, 2020.

But before that, we were given the opportunity to tour around the golf course while the alumni were playing one round of golf which started on a a rainy 6am morning. I arrived two hours before the call time of 11am because I wanted to make sure I have better luck finding a parking space.

Being an early bird has its perks as I was privately toured by security around the three lots that composed of the golf course.

Surrounded by the historic walls of Intramuros, plus other visible historical landmarks can be seen from afar, Club Intramuros is a historic site itself as it has been catering to golf lovers for almost a century already. The golf course was opened in 1930 but the club has been around since 1907.

These ladies from Subic are all doing the iconic Wazzup Pilipinas shout-out!

My designated tour guide for that morning. All the golf carts are being used so we settled for the next best transport vehicle available.

This is an 18-hole golf course. The course is relatively small but is sizable in terms of the challenges it entails; most of the holes include water hazards (lagoons), out-of-bounds, or both, so everybody is sure to have an exciting time. A game can be played in approximately two hours, which is ideal for busy people who are looking to unwind through a quick game of golf.

It also has a driving range where beginners and amateurs can practice swinging and hitting golf balls. Other facilities include a restaurant and function rooms.

Here are the Golf Course Rates just in case you are interested to play:

For non-resident – Php 1,910 inclusive of green fee, insurance, pull cart and caddie fee

For resident – Php 1,210 (weekdays, inclusive of green fee, insurance, pull cart and caddie fee); Php 1,410 (weekends, inclusive of green fee, insurance, pull cart and caddie fee)

Driving Range: Php 90 for a bucket of 80 balls

You'll find my several short video blogs of the tour from start to finish on my personal page and also on our official Facebook page.

We also interviewed BGen Melvin Ordiales, Chairman for the host class for 2020, with regards to more information about the event. This was after a hearty lunch at another room aside from the press conference function room where we were joined by the fresh from the shower rooms PMMA alumni who all played golf for a few hours.

The press conference was attended by Capt. Jess Morales, IBP President; Supt. Joel Abutal, PMMA President; and CE Chito Majabague, PMMAAAI President. Also was there earlier was Adm. Reuben Lista Sr, PNOC President but had to leave early before the presscon.

The media launch was hosted by Xaxa Alegre,

Being a celebration for 200 years, I naturally asked them for significant "on top of their minds" achievers among the PMMA graduates, and likewise for the school as a whole.

From Escuela Nautica De Manila in 1820, to Philippine Nautical School in the 1900s, now Philippine Merchant Marine Academy since 1963 because of Republic Act 3680, the PMMA has a lot of top alumni that excelled in their chosen profession. Likewise, the Academy as a whole has significant contributions to the maritime industry.

Hoping to be available to join them in Zambales too on April 4, 2020, but that is still several months away from now. However, the class are organizing fundraising activities to be able to achieve their target funding of around 10 million, or higher, for the finale event. As of now, the earlier golf event was already the start of their journey towards their 200 years celebration.

There were already sponsors displayed on their tarpaulin so I guess it would not be hard for them to accummulate the necessary funding, and it is expected that the alumni will also be active in making these celebrations possible.

Congratulations to the PMMA for their Bicentennial. It is not that easy to reach that significant milestone, and here's hoping the academy will reach up to Quincentennial and beyond.
