It has officially opened last April 3 and will run until April 20. This class is under the supervision of IDr. Billie Jean Dumlao-Dela Cruz, piid.

The students created ingenuous spatial interpretations of the chosen tourist spots, with creatively planned design solutions that revolves around the idea of developing a better living environment.

This design project aims to raise awareness and appreciation of our own culture and heritage that showcases on fourteen (14) different hospitality spaces that feature different Philippine tourist destinations on all over Philippines.

Here are the 14 Hospitality Interiors and their Concepts & Rationales:

BOOTH 1: Hotel Lobby | Timeless Ilocos
Designers: Patrisha T. Casalme, Teresa Molina, Ly Ann M. Soriano

Ilocos Region is undeniably one of the Philippines' finest when it comes to stunning tourist destinations. The region is situated at the northwestern coast of Luzon.

Ilocos' allure inspired the interior design of the hotel lobby showcasing its magnificent and ageless beauty. The Bangui Wind Farm featured on the accent wall gives emphasis to the uniqueness of the place, in incorporation with Vigan's well-known Calle Crisologo, and the enormous buttresses of old churches, while its pristine beaches noticeably influenced the ceiling design. The Kapurpurawan Rock Formation's form and color inspired the reception desk and floor. Together with the other elements, the design proudly embodies the timeless beaut of Ilocos region, giving everyone a beauty to remember.

BOOTH 2: Karaoke Room | Basco Lighthouse
Designers: Kristine Joy M. Verano, Angelica Marie F. Pavo, Rondal B. Sinangote, Mikaela P. Argana

Standing at 66-feet, the lighthouse comprises of six stories, with a viewing deck on the fifth, allowing unobstructed views of the West Philippine Sea to the west, Mt. Iraya to the north, and the Basco Town Proper to the south.

In this karaoke room, the design was derived from the physical structure of the lighthouse. Inspiration from the lantern room, stone masonry and shape of windows and door can be seen around the interior.

The interior comprises of light colors and balancing it with the lighting, will bring comfort whilst having enjoying yourselves immersed in singing.

BOOTH 3: Spa Room | Mount Pinatubo
Designers: Angelie A. Saberon, Clifford Dale A. Domingo, Kathyreen S. Castro

Mt. Pinatubo is an active stratovolcano located on the tripoint boundary of the Philippine provinces of Zambales, Tarlac and Pampanga. The beautiful catastrophe of the mountain was one of the most known disasters that left a mark in the history of the Philippines. The 1991 eruption caused a big impact, destroying everything in its path which was also felt worldwide. Nevertheless, who would have thought that this beautiful landscape was ironically created by destruction? It was simply beautiful.

Through the natural God-creation beauty of the Pinatubo, this spa design was made. Inspired by the eccentric formation of the mountain, down to the devastated field full of lahar, the gaze of the emerald waters of the Caldera lake, neighboring ethnic settlements and one of, if not the best, perfect spot to view the mountain’s beauty in destruction.

The natural subtle tones give calm to the interior and the warm-welcoming ambience that embraces relaxation rewards you with the same stunning captivity of the place which lets you forget all the weight of troubles and burdens in your life, perfect for those who seek peace and serenity.

BOOTH 4: Coffee Shop | Palawan

The coffee shop design executed "continuous drips of water," from how the 20 million old rock formations form that emerges directly and splashed entirely. Emulating the quick falling, slowly slipping of dripstone is like brewing a coffee. This haven signifies the continuous flow of design, the presence of indoor plants and sustainable materials. Add on the magnificent color of nature. Experience mood cave- the less wide but comfortable, mellow sound waves while chilling with hot coffee brew.

BOOTH 5: Restaurant | Bicol
Designers: Citela L. Reyes, Gilda P. Carmona, Almira Joy F. Radam

The restaurant name "Kakang Gata" has been taken from the fondness of Bicolanos of cooking their vegetables, seafoods, and other cuisine in coconut milk as coconuts are also popular in the region. Since the restaurant offers high-end service, 'Kakang Gata' - which is the first substance extracted from the coconut, the richest in flavor and thickest in consistency, best defines the restaurant.

The concept of the restaurant is the famous stratovolcano, the Mayon Volcano. It is located at Legazpi, Albay and is best admired as having the perfect symmetrical cone. The symmetry, geometry, and material of the volcano has been applied to the interiors. From the layout of floor plan to the geometry of the solihiya pattern to the usage of rocks as material for wall and floor. The layout takes the shape of the volcano as it divides the dining areas for banquet and for few seaters. For rhythm and contrast, the ceiling plan breaks the symmetry of the floor as it is slightly slanted and partly coffered. The coffered ceiling takes the pattern of solihiya as this is the accent of the space. This pattern represents the main industry of abaca weaving which is the main industry of Bicol Region. Solihiya is also widely used in ancient houses and is commonly seen as one of the main elements of furniture pieces in Bicol region. The color scheme takes the color of the concept as it is more of the rocky and earthy tones.

Taste and see the best of Bicol region here at Kakang Gata Restaurant.

The separation of the seashore and the ocean is seen thru the elevated flooring that celebrates beauty thru diversity, passage of time and mystery of life. Lastly, the tropical nature of the pearl farm is interpreted in the interior using natural materials such as pebbles, woods, Abaca, foliage and the mother of pearls or the Capiz shells, that will fulfill the warm accommodation that every guest wants to experience in their leisure time with their family.

ONE Championship Unveils New Battlefield in 13th Trip to Manila on April 20

Wazzup Pilipinas!

If it can be said of the ultimate proving grounds of combat sports, there is nothing more closely associated with a roped platform famously referred to as “The Squared Circle.”

Many martial artists invested blood, sweat and tears within the four corners of the ring just to have their hand raised and become legends in their respective fields.

ONE Championship will be paying homage to the athletes who elevated combat sports to where it is today by having all bouts in its 13th venture on Philippine shores inside the promotion’s brand new five-rope ring.

Aside from the marquee talents that will be featured at ONE: HEROES OF HONOR in Manila, Philippines on April 20, ONE Championship will likewise introduce its new battlefield.

All 11 bouts at ONE: HEROES OF HONOR are expected to be held inside the new ring, including bouts that are officiated under the organization’s Global Rule Set.

For the first time in ONE Championship’s seven-year history, mixed martial arts contests will be held in the ring instead of in the cage.

Former world title contender Kevin Belingon, who is slated to face Andrew Leone in the main event of ONE: HEROES OF HONOR, welcomes the promotion’s transition from cage to ring for its live event in Manila with open arms because during the early part of his career, he started out competing inside the ring.

“I was surprised when I found out that my next bout would take place inside the ring. It brings a lot of memories because my first few fights were held inside the ring. I have no problem of competing inside the ring again. I am always ready,” Belingon stated.

According to Belingon, he has bigger chance to brandish a stand-up battle in his upcoming bout with Leone under such condition.

“Fighting inside the ring or cage is the same for me. But for sure, I will use my experience inside the ring this coming April 20th. I will make sure that the action stays at the center of the ring. If it stays there, it will be easier for me to dictate the pace of the bout,” the 30-year-old Baguio City resident explained.

Meanwhile, Belingon’s teammate Honorio Banario shared that some grappling techniques will be limited inside the ring.

“There are some things that you can’t do inside the ring, especially in the grappling aspect of the fight. The angles inside the ring are hugely different as you're fighting within a square because the ropes bend more and the corners are harder to elude. It’s challenging, but I like a challenge,” the ex-ONE Featherweight World Champion pointed out.

Banario, who is booked to square off with Australia’s Adrian Pang at ONE: HEROES OF HONOR, bared that he made a few adjustments upon learning that his next assignment will be held inside the ring.

“The ring offers a whole slew of different variables that a cage concept cannot offer. We made slight adjustments because since 2012, my bouts were held inside the cage. But it’s fine with me. The ring will allow me to strike more,” Banario said.

Also making its debut at ONE: HEROES OF HONOR is the highly-anticipated ONE Super Series, a new iteration in ONE Championship’s efforts to bring martial arts to the forefront in mainstream culture.

The premiere offering for Manila’s ONE Super Series is a three-round kickboxing encounter, featuring international superstar Giorgio Petrosyan of Italy who takes on “Smokin’” Jo Nattawut of Thailand.

In other ONE Super Series match-ups, celebrated Thai kickboxer Nong-O Gaiyanghadao is scheduled to duke it out with French-Italian dynamo Fabio Pinca in a three-round Muay Thai tussle.

Elliot Compton shares the ring with Cosmo Alexandre in a Muay Thai clash, while Brad Riddell locks horns with Regian Eersel in a kickboxing bout.

ONE Super Series competitors will either use ten-ounce or eight-ounce boxing gloves depending on the weight of the athletes.

Unlike its mixed martial arts counterpart, Muay Thai and kickboxing matches in ONE Super Series will be scored in a ten-point must system and will be contested in three three-minute rounds.

ONE: HEROES OF HONOR takes place at the 20,000-capacity SM Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines on April 20.
