Durables Versus Disposables

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Many homemakers, in their desire to save money and time, resort to using plastic bags and Styrofoam products as food containers. These are relatively cheap and do not need to be cleaned after use.

However, it is not advisable to use these disposable food containers for a number of reasons. First, these cheap items are made of flimsy material and are prone to breakage. You do not want to spill food on your bag and clothes, do you? It is better to use containers that can be sealed tightly and can be easily opened. Klio Food Keepers have an easy-to-open lid design that also allows secure fastening.

Second, you run the risk of having toxic chemicals leach into your food. Styrofoam leaches carcinogenic materials, especially when it comes into contact with hot food. On the other hand, Klio products are guaranteed safe for food storage. It is also microwave and freezer-safe, unlike some disposable food containers.

Gullible's Travels: Anong Klaseng Bloggers Kayo?

Wazzup Pilipinas!

There has been fake FB accounts posting fake events for bloggers. Unfortunately, many bloggers have been signing up, both veteran and newbies are victimized by this scumbag who has so much time in his wretched life that he wants to make fun out of bloggers especially those who are just so passionate in joining every event available.

What is so alarming is when other bloggers laugh at the ones who fall prey to these scammers. They would criticize and even create threads to talk behind the backs of the victims. Instead of cursing the scammer, they would humiliate the victims and say "Anong klaseng bloggers kayo" implying the bloggers who signed up could not easily sense that it was a scam, and will make them look greedy for every event out there.

Look at the signs they say, but AFAIK, some event organizers do not really reveal everything on their posts and details are only given to only those chosen. This is why there is a sign-up. Not everyone who signs up will be contacted and selected for the event.

Though it is true that bloggers also need to verify the identity of the event organizer, some bloggers would sign-up immediately before they ran out of slots. They get the details later because the most important right now is to get in.

This is why some bloggers would sign-up at multiple events even if they are all happening at the same time. Some bloggers do this so they can choose which one they deem better or worth their time. Though I don't really encourage such habits because the losing party here would be the event organizers. What would you feel if someone signed up at your event then changes his or her mind the last minute?

When Mothers Become Bloggers: Super-Powered But Still with a Weakness

Wazzup Pilipinas!

"Some parents will surrender to consumerism in raising their children. It's a shame to see decent, scrupulous mothers and fathers in externally imposed crises of anxiety about doing the best for their kids. The greatest gift we can give our children is ourselves, with our strengths emphasized and our faults not hidden but, to a reasonable degree, controlled."

For a third world country like the Philippines, it's not enough to raise a family when the father is an average employee working for our companies that still has below minimum wage compensation for some of their rank and file. This is especially true for the contractuals or temps who came from agencies hired by the company.

This is probably why some mothers feel the need to find a source of extra income. Some would setup a variety or "sari-sari" store at their house, while others would also work for another 8 to 5 job. The smarter ones will find a way to take advantage of the Internet or social media. This gave birth to the Work-At-Home mothers who do online language tutorials, social media management, virtual assistance, etc. The most popular nowadays that keeps some mommies busy is blogging.

Now there are several types of mommy bloggers. One type would remain at home and blog about topics that were contracted via online. These are the ones who are sent product samples for reviews and write about their experience using the products. While there are some moms that attend events such as product launches, press conferences, block screenings, expos and summits, etc. These are the moms that go out of their way to leave their children under the care of housemaids, yayas or relatives so that they can earn a few more.
