The Perks of Being a Fangirl

Wazzup Pilipinas!

A fangirl is a female fan who supports her idol. The idol may be a dancer, a singer or an actor. She shows her dedication to her idol by supporting all of his or her activities, buying their merchandise, watching him or her perform onstage and by sending him letters. There are many causes why a normal girl would become a fangirl. And there are many effects as well that can affect her life in the future or in her present-day life.

K-Pop fangirls are not all born, some are made. One reason why they are made is because of their friends who provoke them to become fangirls. When they are already fangirls, they’ll start listening to songs and watch music videos, and then they'll possibly fall in love with it all, not just to their songs and videos but also the ones who perform them.

Being a K-Pop fan is more than just adoring K-Pop idols. We are learning how to value things. It is love. It is all about sacrifices, because fan girls would do everything for their biases (K-pop idol crushes) whether it is good or bad. Sometimes, fangirls are crossing their limitations, such as learning to wander off without asking for permission to your parents, learn to lie, be warfreaks (especially if they are talking bad about your bias), disobey their parents, not focusing on their studies anymore and and being judged by other people, which lead them to the bad effects.

Demolisyon : To Recognize and Respect Our Heritage Sites

Wazzup Pilipinas!

A group of Architectural students made extreme efforts to come up with a youth conference to encourage individuals to recognize and respect our heritage or historical sites in the Philippines.

Many are perhaps unaware that the actual representations of our history are slowly becoming things of the past to make room for development and new structures. In the name of progress, we are now losing our heritage structures and are being replaced by modern establishments. What is sad or demeaning for me if these memories of a great history were demolished and flattened only to be replaced by parking lots or parks.

With the recent earthquakes that struck Cebu and Bohol where many historical structures like churches collapsed, it makes me think twice if we really need to preserve old and decaying structures, or it is necessary to bring them down and build ones with stronger foundations.

Fantasy Fest 2013: Awesome Street Party at the Keys

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Enjoying Fantasy Fest 2013 here at Key West, Florida.

The Fantasy Fest, a street party held annually on the last week of October, has grown to rival New Orleans' Mardi Gras as a grand event drawing even out-of-towners.
Traditionally October has been a slow time for tourism in the Keys, but since its inception, Fantasy Fest has continually boosted the economy by filling up hotel rooms and inundating local businesses, restaurants, and bars during this time period.

The tremendous influx of visitors during the ten days of the festival sustains the local economy until the holiday season begins.
