Epson, the no. 1 projector maker in the world1, recently held a 3-day Color Brightness Projector Expo and Launch at the SM North EDSA (Cyberzone) to educate the public about the importance of knowing the Color Light Output (CLO) of a projector.
CLO is a measurement of Color Brightness in projectors. It is a scientiļ¬c global standard that measures the luminance of the colors Red, Green, and Blue. The metric was developed to provide customers with fair and accurate information in choosing the right projector.
“About 70% of projector buyers aren’t aware that the ‘lumens’ advertised in projector specifications only refers to white brightness. For most projectors using 1-chip technology, their color brightness is only 1/3 of their advertised lumens – as such, their 2100-lumens projector typically can only display 700 lumens of color,” said Lyn Lizarondo, Epson Philippines’ Product Manager for Visual Instruments.
