From Cruise Ship Chef to Viral Vlogger: How Eduard Laya Cooked Up a New Life on the Streets
From the heat of cruise ship kitchens to the vibrant energy of street vlogging, he is known to thousands online as Kuya Ed PH—is a living proof that mastery knows no bounds.
A certified Japanese chef with a JISS license and over 15 years of experience as Chef de Partie aboard world-class cruise ships, he has brought more than just recipes ashore—he’s brought heart, hustle, and a hunger for storytelling. With advanced training in food preparation and sanitation, and a burning drive as a businessman and entrepreneur, he founded ERL Foods, a Japanese street food cart brand born from his passion for authentic cuisine and accessible flavors.
But he didn't stop at food. In the last two years, he has carved a niche as a content creator, livestreamer, and street vlogging mentor, sharing real-world tips and techniques with aspiring vloggers and foodpreneurs. His journey from seafaring chef to street sensation is a testament to reinvention, grit, and the courage to hit “record” and share one’s story.
A humble trailblazer, he once said, “Pasensya na po kung medyo late—1st time ko sa ganitong forum.” Yet despite the hesitation, his story now inspires a wave of creators ready to take the spotlight, one street, one dish, and one vlog at a time.
Let's welcome, Eduard Laya.
